Just voted. Even standing in line was depressing. Two women behind me were pretty much checking off every box when it comes to Trump talking points they read on Facebook. They went from the 'my daughter in Amarillo - who is well educated! - had the machine change her vote so we better check when we're done!' to 'and everybody just says to check Snopes this and Snopes that but you know who runes that website? Two liberals in California, so you can't trust that' to 'she really scares me, I think it's probably the end of the world if she is president!'
At some point one of them decided to blurt out 'and you know who the first slaves were? The Irish.' for whatever reason.
They were just so exasperated and beside themselves that people just couldn't see the 'truth'
And of course there were some quick 'I'm not prejudiced at all I have a black/Mexican/half ______' whenever the still functioning part of their brain kicked in to remind them how they sounded.
It was fascinating and totally sad all at the same time.
It would be nice to see a little purple, but sadly I'd be downright shocked to see this state ever turn blue anytime soon. Hopefully that's just the weight of my anecdotal experience making me too cynical.
