Early voting in Texas is breaking records in their top 10 counties

I hope hilary is able to win texas this year. It will glorious if voter backlash was large enough to swing texas to hilary. It will be a lot harder for Hilary to win texas in this election then it was for the Alberta NDP to win the Alberta provincial election in 2015. Alberta is a province in Canada the right wing in Canada thought they owned since they ruled the province for over 70 years locally and federally but voter backlash against the former government there was large enough to give the Alberta NDP a landslide win in the provincial election last year.People like to compare texas to Alberta a lot at times.

I imagine a lot of folks in Texas like Trump. If only Ted Cruz had a spine for a few more days...

Hannity had a story today that 2 voters in Texas claim the voting machine changed their vote from Trump to Clinton.

Excuses ready to go.

Early voters claimed the opposite in NC. What seems to happen is people touch a name, then touch the empty box, so the cursor goes back to the names and ask your choice.

It should be touch the empty box, then touch a name.

I'm in Hays County, and can confirm the long lines. All old people, and presumably Trump voters. It took me 45 minutes to vote this morning. Apparently the machines broke down yesterday and earlier today, as I heard the lines were 2 hours long yesterday. They managed to replace them just as I got there and I got to watch them haul them out. It was amusing watching the old Trump supporters start losing it when the machines were hauled out. "Theyre replacing them with rigged machines for Hillary, I bet!"

A lot do but I do not expect trump to win Texas by much at this point probably. He most likely will fail to win the state by more than 500k.

When do the results come out? I gotta know so I can take the night off to drink my sorrows away and/or party like it's January 1st, 2001.

What? Really?

They really shouldn't be doing that. Voters should not be allowed to be affected by what other people voted for, especially in the same state...so results shouldn't be announced until the polls closed imo.

Results aren't announced. Just the number of voters and their party affiliations. Nobody knows any results until all polls are closed on Election Day.

Did my part today, line went around the side of the building and was around a 45 minute wait. Sadly no Trump weirdos trying to intimidate the mostly minority line, no cops either.

And it's ALLLL for Trump.

Source: I live here, and see nothing but Trump yard signs all day erry day.

Seriously, look away people. It's embarrassing how many Trump voters are turning out here.

This is so true.

Everywhere I go around town, all I see is Trump signs, huge ones, small ones, it's insane!

I can't believe Trump is going to flip Massachusetts!

WTF you can vote at Fiesta in Texas? Damn I should move there.

Isn't El Paso really blue though? (from the charts earlier in this thread) So that's expected

Oh, of course, but the large increase in turnout is very much welcome. Additionally, the percentage here is higher than it was for Obama (one stat says it was +32 in 2008) but I'm sure others here can explain better how large the gap is likely to be at the end when it narrows during normal voting.

Almost made a seperate topic about this, but thought better of it. Fresh polling. Trump is only up 3 (within the margin of error) in Texas:

https://www.texastribune.org/2016/10/27/uttt-poll-trump-holds-narrow-lead-over-clinton/

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a three-percentage-point lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton on the eve of early voting in Texas, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence, had the support of 45 percent of likely Texas voters, compared with 42 percent for Clinton and Tim Kaine; 7 percent for Libertarian Gary Johnson and William Weld; and 2 percent for the Green Party’s Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka. The remaining 5 percent said they would vote for someone else for president and vice president.

“This is the trend that we’ve been seeing in polling for the last two weeks,” said Jim Henson, co-director of the UT/TT Poll and head of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin.

I hear this shit every time there's a major election. You'd think people would get more creative.

Or the rest of the dumbass country could just join us (Colorado, Oregon, Washington) in having all mail in ballots.

Wife and I mailed off our early ballots last week. We're registered in a deeply red county, but it does have a sizable Hispanic population. Fingers crossed.

The whole "machine changed to wrong candidate" thing is hilarious. Of course if I were to rig a voting machine I'd make sure the screen animates to show the vote being changed :D

Na I'm pretty sure I know what happened, it's a combination of the type of voting machine not being super intuitive and user error.

You use the turning wheel thingy to select who you want to vote for. I can see not tech-savy people fucking up and switching their vote accidentally while trying to move to the next page.

The first page of this thread is like a bingo card of ignorance in politics. Brexit comparison, Trump supporters being more enthusiastic, and yard signs.

Only thing missing is the Bill Mitchel Halloween mask sales index and rally crowd size.

What a clusterfuck of a design.

Wha....what is this?

I was born after the internet and I wouldn't know how to work this shit. Its like some old ipod thingy....thing. No touch screen interface?

I would say that feels intentional but I feel far more strongly that me and everyone in my generation would be able to figure it out meanwhile my parents are left shit out of luck accidentally voting for anyone but their candidate lol.

EDIT: I'm just noticing the Steet fighter like instructions on the side. Lmao ain't nobody got time for that when voting Hillary. Just give us a screen or an old pen & paper, neither requires tutorials.

third. Parties throwing their vote in the trash, just vote for Clinton.

They used to have electronic machines but scrapped them for this more efficient 'fill in the bubbles until your hand cramps' method.

How many people are you voting for? I just cast my early ballot and there were like eight bubbles to fill. I think the most I filled was in 2012 and that was still only like 14

What is that? That is not the machine I used nor the one that one of the claimants used. This story has video of the machine in question. http://www.newswest9.com/story/3349...ed-while-casting-straight-ticket?sf40028065=1

100% chance of user error or just incorrect calibration. Like someone else said, if you are going to steal an election, you don't leave obvious visual evidence. Also, as a software engineer, it is ridiculous that we use computer voting. Never mind the malice. There is no chance that the software does not have many bugs in the code.

Considering the elderly vote more than any other group, I don't think they're having that much of a problem with those machines.

I've always found them to be intuitive and easy to use. The only slow part is entering your access code at the beginning.

I like the voting machines -- they're pretty easy to use. I voted on the 2nd day and went around 9:30 or so. Took me about 25 minutes to get my vote in at UT which I consider to be very acceptable especially as it went by fairly quickly using my phone. I read some endorsements while waiting. My wife went with a bunch of her coworkers on the first day and it took about an hour but her and a number of other ladies had planned to do it together so they didn't mind.

That is the machine I've voted on in Austin at both UT (voted there a number of times) and at Wheatsville for the primary. I assume it's Travis County wide. Are you in the surrounding Austin area?

Yeah, WIlliamson County TX here - that is also not the type of machine I used.

In NJ we have these behemoths

Almost impossible to not see what you did.

Yeah I am in Williamson. I didn't realize different counties within the same state used different machines. Ours are touch screen and you just touch the candidates name.

34 for me.

My first time using a machine. It was nice but I scrolled through each page like 5 times just to make sure I had everything right.

Unfortunately, and unsurprisingly, not a lot of younger people spotted. TX will stay red.

Well, I mean you're voting in a mall. Who else besides old people go there now a days? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The worst thing about electronic voting machines (and the old mechanical machines before them) is that they limit the number of people that can vote at any one time. With optical scan paper ballots, you can (and I have) vote on any flat surface.
