The Midnight Special debate becoming a multi-episode argument was unbelievable, Sean's rant made me laugh til I teared up
Hayes is right though it's a good movie

CBB Live last night in Durham was amazing, loved it. Mike the Janitor & Amanda Calzone appeared.

They are also donating some of the proceeds from the show to Equality NC to fight HB-2 here, so that was pretty cool.

Is anyone else hoping one of the next Comedy Bang Bangs will be hosted by Zouks? They joked about Jason doing some while Scott was on tour in the anniversary show.

Still slowly working my way through Hollywood Handbook. The first person to blow my mind by being unexpectedly hilarious and a perfect fit for the style of the show was Dave Thomas of all people. He didn't let up the whole episode.

That Little Esther episode was just about as bad as I thought it would be.

Have you listened to the Pauly Shore episode? That shit is as bad as it gets.

Sinbad is the guest who surprised me the most. He caught on immediately and was hilarious.

The Pauly shore episode is bad but it also has one of the best moments ever on the show,
When Pauly calls Sean a homo.
. HH is often a pretty intentionally awkward show, so it's kind of amazing when something actually really uncomfortable happens. It's worth listening to once.

The guest is bad, the episode is not bad. Listening to them deal with a guy like him whle in character is a treat.

I don't know, I remember listening when it came out and thinking it was straight up bad. Like it's mostly kind of boring really, lots of bits just not taking off at all. It only starts to get fun towards the end when they realise just how awful Pauly Shore is.

Was Pauly Shore ever considered a funny actor? I had no real background info on him going into the episode, he seemed like a nice guy other than the homo comment. Episode was a train wreck of course haha

As a young kid in the early 90s he seemed cool and funny on MTV cause there was no one like him on TV. His movies at the time were dumb but ok. Now they're of course odd relics of the past.

I was lucky enough to be able to go to both shows on the first night in NYC. For anyone going Saturday or Sunday, I think it goes without saying you are in for a treat. Everyone was fantastic. Paul F put on 2 amazing characters and Lauren knocked it out of the park. Neilerdude's opener was amazing as well. At the meet and greet afterwards, the crew couldn't have been nicer. This podcast means so much to me, and it was amazing to see it up close and personal. If you have the chance (And I PRAY that you do) go see these wonderful people on tour, it is everything you'd hope it would be and then some. HEYNONGMAN.

Nyc show was aces.

I saw the late show. PFT's Sam Elliot was amazing and, guys, to see him crack on Hot Sauce in person, and describe why a shitty Hot Sauce "Joke" dies on the vine because "maybe it's just easier to take when you're washing dishes or at the gym" is going in my top five moments of comedy of all time.

And yeah, Neil Campbell is God Tier Stand Up.

I was a little bummed there was no super secret guest though. Wanted NEW NO NOs LIVE real real bad.

Went and listened to an old How did this get made (Sucker Punch ep) and it was really funny to hear them talk about Oscar Isaac being this unknown dude in a creepy role that Chelsea Peretti had an odd attraction to and was somehow the best part of the movie.

Holy shit the new HH may be my favorite episode of all time. Julie Klausner without a doubt is my favorite HH guest. She is just the perfect mix of playing along and pushing back on Hayes and Sean. Plus she always sounds like she is having a great time, which is infectious. Her one liner about American idol on the podcast time was amazing. Great great episode.

Yep new HH is great. Plus I thought the Tom impression was pretty good.
EDIT: I was wondering what they were talking about when Sean said something about a celebrity starting with Z sabotaging Julie so I looked it up. Julie got in to a Twitter feud with Zendaya. Savage, Sean.

Amazing episode, everyone was on fire especially Julie. "A lot of actors start with the voice...but I prefer American Idol." Also "We told you he was gonna Klumps you" and Hayes' Tom impression was uncanny

Great HH ep, every episode with Julie Klausner has been great. I don't always like the Scharpling episodes as much as other people but this one really delivered.

Also holy shit at that Analyse Phish joke.

Gethards podcast sound really interesting

It is... generally. Some calls are better than others but they're generally really good and interesting.

Also, I loved this line from CBB live:
"Edward Scissorhands - it's like Edward Fortyhands but with scissors instead of 40's."

Alllssooo... the newest episode of The Hooray Show is great. Features Joe Wengert, Matt Besser and Mary Holland.

I was at the Austin live CBB last night and it was incredible. There's something missing if you can't see their faces as they react. It's clear they're all pros and really comfortable with each other. Not only are they unafraid to call each other out on their flubs and inconsistencies, they roll with them so immediately and sharply.

The live show kind of sold me on Howl to hear the others, but I highly recommend seeing it live if the tour is in your town. The mixture of watching it live, being a part of a shared crowd, and really giving it all your attentions (versus in the car or in the background) is so satisfying.

I really like it. He does a good job of having people from different backgrounds talk about their experiences with warmth and humour, like an episode where he talks to an ex-Hasidic jew about what that faith is like or one where he talks to a guy who moved to the rural mountains with his family. The best episodes get you thinking about these people's lives and empathising with them. It's a little hit and miss and sometimes it devolves into therapy talk which is a bit uncomfortable but I'm general it's pretty cool. Gethard is a fantastic host on it, and he's been pretty active in the community taking feedback and such.

YOU. GUYS.

HH LIVE.

It was a very strange and beautiful one off thing. They had a guy from one of those podcast networks as a guest and they spent the whole show trying to figure out how to get to the top of the podcast charts. (We watched them learn they are currently 156. In Comedy.)

I used to be such a Sean Stan but that one dude one time was so right, half the fun is watching these dudes and Hayes, in person, is a fucking juggernaut.

They ended up in a Casper bed together. It was glorious.

Holy shit just saw a pic from the HDTGM Instagram and it looks like Tom Scharpling is on the NYC live ep! I wonder what the movie is.

EDIT: I think it might be The Avengers (the older one)

Oh, man. I'm late to the party on Howl FM, but I didn't realize that you couldn't save the podcasts to your computer and then play them offline. I didn't know you had to stream them. I have a janky, $40 Tracfone smart phone with almost no data, so streaming isn't really an option. Oh well, it's a free trial, so it's not a big deal.

There's some important news about Howl and Paywalls and stuff.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Earwolf/comments/4kp8np/important_howl_announcement_please_read/

TL:DR Add free archives are coming for Howl subscribers on certain shows, and those shows are getting put behind the premium paywall at some point. It's mostly smaller shows right now, but presumably will be coming to the big stuff like CBB! eventually.

So if anyone wants to hop on the Reality Show Show or Andy Daly's PPP train without paying I would download the episodes soon!

Clink the link for all the details.

Just when I was coming around on Howl.

How are those
non-fan made
RSS feeds coming?

Yeah, I get why they're doing it but putting shows behind a paywall is such a bummer. I think having a subscription for Ad free archives and new exclusive comedy stuff should be enough to justify the service, getting rid of the archives for everyone else is lame. I guess they want Howl to become the "Netflix for podcasts", but I wish it was more just like a premium subscription to Earwolf with new stuff like how GiantBomb does it.

I'm not sure about RSS feeds, as far as I know the fan made ones work fine. They've said getting official ones made is not a priority right now but they want to do them at some point. They also said they'll leave the fan made one up. Right now they're probably too focused on their dumpster fire Android app! All joking/complaining a salad I hope this stuff works out for them.
