To the other Burger Boys/citizens of Spoon Nation in here: how've you felt about these post-Munch Madness Doughboys eps? Each one I was glad to see them branching out beyond their circles with the guest, but then I actually listened to the episodes and...well while McGathy was merely slightly bad, Barnatt was an infuriating guest, I couldn't stop cringing. As bad as Barnatt was this McGathy episode is almost harder to get through because I used to listen to her on Harmontown and I know she has her own podcast, yet she's breaking such basic rules of podcast guesting it's kinda amazing. I guess there's just a different skill set for being a host and being a guest.

Yeah the last two episodes haven't been great.

I thought Nathan Barnatt was a definitely way too chatty in a personal confessional kind of way on the Veggie Grill episode. Not so good.

The Chuck E. Cheese episode was pretty great and suitably gross for the theme of the episode, I thought.

I posted that with a half hour to go and that last section was better. But mcgathy stopping the convo in its tracks multiple times to note how this was soooo weird because she's been binging the show and now she's on it whoooa: that made me crazy.

Catching up on some old HHs. I was laughing my ass off at the Fixing Brets House ep.

Hayes: You need more books
Brett: Yeah not so many books - I have a uekelele
Hayes: That's not a book.
DC: Name one book you've read
Brett: uhh Jurassic Park
Hayes: Thats not a book either! I don't think you understand what books are.
DC: I was wondering why when I showed up he was sitting in an easy chair with glasses on, staring into an open dvd case.

Ooof this week's HH is rough. Sean and Hayes were right to throw that guest segment under the bus. Mike did not click with them at all and was very low energy and uncooperative the entire time. It's clear Sean and Hayes did not know how to engage with Mike. It wasn't even an amusing bad like the Pauly Shore episode. Mike did make some attempts to be funny but he did not mesh well at all with Sean and Hayes.

He wasn't great but I didn't think he was tanking it completely. The way he was resisting them at time was actually pretty "on game" for HH I thought except Lawrence just...wasn't that funny.

TBH I was more bothered by clemdawg hating Midnight Special so much he couldn't be more wrong about it

Yeah I didn't like how much they threw the guest under the bus. He was not good, but I didn't feel like he was actively trying to dismantle the show.

Am I bad person if I totally don't care that I missed out on Happy Endings Reunion tickets because they sold instantly since I got FUCKING HOLLYWOOD HANDBOOK TICKETS MOTHERFUCKER???????????

Just listened to this weeks HH.

It was rough for sure. I think it was a mixture of both Hayes and Sean having a comedic style that is hard to jump straight into without any prior knowledge, and then also Mike Lawrence being somewhat resistant and more negative as the show went on. His comment like "I think that sums up the difference between New York and LA comedy" and the whole thing about the question being the low point of his life were off putting to me, but at the same time Sean and Hayes were for sure playing off his low energy.

Eh. There were still some good laughs in there.

I have been thinking about "Oh god... if you think about it... six million dead?" and chuckling to myself randomly all week.

So fucking random... why was that so funny?

"I don't eat anything without rubbing it on my chest first...do you need the list again of things that have given me a rash on my chest? Hot sauce. Sriracha. Jalpeños. Habaneros."

"We'll probably use Horny Adam so...this is for safety. 'I'm John Lonely!'" "'andhe'shornytodd'" "You gotta say it more confidently than that"

Hysterical handbook ep

Did they throw it under the bus? It was so boring I just sort of tuned it out while I was working. HH works best when the guest fully commits to being a douchey/clueless Hollywood stereotype or when they get irritated and pissed at Sean & Hayes. When the guest plays it straight, the show suffers. Mike was probably the worst guest I've listened to so far.

7th Anny CBB is pretty amazing.

Too many memorable moments I'm already forgetting, but everything Neil and Horatio are brining is gold. He like Morris Day when he went solo.

Howl has improved and I don't hate it like I used to when they were doing the paywall with archived episodes. It's a good way to try new podcasts you don't feel like committing to a subscription.

Listened to about half of the 7th anniversary earlier and it's fantastic. Can't wait to finish it tomorrow. John Lennon just fucking slays me every time.

The idea of John Lennon driving an RV really fast in an attempt to jump the Grand Canyon will never not be funny.

And a week until I see CBB live :D!

I will never get tired of Sean asking for an explanation of something, assuring the guest that "[he] knows what it is, but for Hayes and Cody and anyone else who doesn't know, why don't you explain exactly what it is."

Everyone is fantastic in the Terrytown CBB, but it's a great showcase for how talented Lauren Lapkus is. She is hilarious. Also Regina is a great character.

I love when PFT calls out Scott for his dumb or poorly worded questions, in today's live episode Scott is talking with Warner Herzog about a version of Hamilton with gregorian chanting, Scott asks him "At what point do think this should be called Gregorian Chanting" and PFT goes "I'm sorry, is the title of the musical Hip Hop?". I lost my shit after that.
