East Coast Throwdown 4 | Fighting game tournament | June 9-10

Not to hate on Mk or other games...but why don't they stick UMVC3 and SF4 on the Main Stream.

The games with the most viewers should stick on the main stream.
This mentality just leads to a stagnant community and bitterness. Giving exposure to other games is the right way to do things.

MK could just be on another stream, but instead, they're on the main stream where the chat is filled with people who want AE or UMVC3, so now MK fans can't discuss it. That's how it'll always be when you put it on the main stream.

Aren't there like 4 different streams going on for this event? Stickbug, 8wayrun, one other too? What is running on all of those? Shit, if MK has a decent amount of people, I could see it having it's own stream.

I don't mind top 8 of each game being streamed on the main stream on finals day, mostly because the viewers increase and increase with each top 8 leading up to the main games' top 8 (UMVC3 and SF4) for the most viewers.

But isn't it logical to keep pool play of only the main games on the main stream? Isn't it logical to keep the viewers as high as possible and not have them drop off or be hindered by a less popular game?

Yeah. Except it's Capcom that is high on the hog right now so it is okay. But it isn't okay when they were the black sheep for the Halo and Smash crowds at Apex.

So the plebs can win with their spam? Screw that

Do you think that anyone can actually discuss Mahvel or AE properly on stream chat? I pop the chat out sometimes just to make it bigger and I can barely keep up. Go to a forum if you want to good post tournament analysis. I can't imagine that MK fans would want to come here after looking at the this particular page of GAF.
Agreed. Hope they run some VF or GG on the main stream.
Good luck with that lol.

St1ckbug's stream has been dead all day.

This is not a democracy and rotating the games gives exposure to other games and people who go to tournaments. There is nothing wrong with that. Use that time for something else in the mean time.

I'd rather see the Capcom games on one stream, just so the Capcom stream monsters will leave what I want to watch alone.

The best solution is seperate streams for each game running concurrently (in a perfect world). Switching streams to continue watching what your watching is inefficient, but every stream does it because of some perceived superiority of "Stream 1". Capcom streams being grouped is logical, as is ASW games, etc.

Seems like an easy practical solution is to divide up stream time based on the number of entrants. If MK has 20% of the entrants, it gets 20% stream time.

I think I see Keev (best French SC5 player and arguably best in the world) against Tokido (who had a very respectable showing at Shadoloo Showdown) on the mlg stream. Oh and Juicebox is on commentary.

the majority of the time spooky only streams either ae or marvel. its natural for people tuning in to want to watch that. isn't there a spooky type person that streams mortal kombat? why aren't they here streaming it? if a community can't stand on its own two feet then they shouldn't expect other streamers to shove it down the throats of their communities.

SFxT is deep. It's too bad people aren't giving it a chance because of Capcom's blunders with block gems working online and stuff.

Uhm, aren't the tourney organizers (LIJoe and SweetJohnny Cage) both MK fans?

So every tournament should have like 4 different streams? I doubt Spooky minds streaming different games considering how pissed off he got at Final Round by all the complaining.

ideally, yeah.
yeah being able to watch all the pools should be what fans of those particular games want. obviously they can't ever get that if all games have to be streamed on one channel. problem is many streamers aren't as professional as spooky so lots of streams end up being awful.

Yes. Though in practice it would probably mean everyone gets 500kbs after the bandwidtch gets divided up.

u.s. internet speed and other volunteers are problems too. The technicalities of it might be a problem as well, having a bunch of stream stations.

still, someone dedicated to each major game would kick ass.

Right, so what we will have instead is people complaining about all these shitty games hogging bandwidth.

EDIT: beaten

if the bandwidth wasn't bad, separate streams for each game would be ideal though

I sincerely hope ECT doesnt follow the streaming chedule UFGT did for starters. Also if theres multiple streams there, (Bifuteki, 8wayrun) they can handle MK9. Cause i sure as hell dont want to see it on the main stream.
