MindsEye (ex Rockstar + IOI) releases June 10/2025

I don't know if this is real or not...

Like at this point the game is a fully finished product.

But at the same time it looks basic AF and fake at the same time

This game does look strange. Good and bad at the same time. Generic and interesting at the same time. Quite curious about the final result, but not enough to buy at launch.

This looks like the most basic shit shoot, drive, shoot while driving
Like, cyberpunk without the stealth, the RPG, the characters, the graphics, the quality artstyle, the plot and in third person. It's probably a good piece of software but it looks so unremarkable that it's painfull tto know the spent docens of millions of dollars making this.

The game also has little to no marketing so I really don't know if the pub actually trusts this.

Watching the newest gameplay it sort of looks like a remake of some lost Ps3/360 era game.
It doesn't look terrible but I feel like it needs an extra hook, right now it looks very standard. You know, Gears had the cool weapons and enemies, Uncharted has the setpiece moments, Vanquish has the fast movement, Max Payne has bullet time, etc. What does this game have?

Being an open world game where none other exist of the type these days?

But it doesn't even sound like a proper open world, the team itself describes it as a "faux open world"
From how they've described it, it sounds like Mafia 1/2 where it's structured like a linear story driven game with an open world that's more of a window dressing and doesn't really have anything for you to do in it outside of the main missions

Looks cool 😎 Feels like an ambitious game with a lot of potential. I'm definitely down for this. Playing Cyberpunk right now and it feels like Mindseye will have the same sort of vibes. I hope Benzie nails the gunplay and that the story sticks the landing. Godspeed.

And thats bad because?

Not really a fan of faux open worlds you go all the way in or make something like yakuza that is explorable on foot.

I wanna see more combat from up close.

Looks like the kind of AA fun I would really enjoy.

A lack of open world is a plus in my book. The Mafia style of having an atmospheric city that only acts as a backdrop to the story is very appealing. I don't need a "world" to sink hundreds of hours of busywork into. A 10-15 hour campaign with some fun mechanics is more than enough for me. Will wait for user reviews as I would with anything, but this is looking like a week 1 purchase.

It's not necessarily bad.
I just don't think it's a particularly compelling hook

How is it not compelling? The only other "faux" open world games out there are the Mafia 1 remake and Mafia 2. In a sea of 100s of open world checkbox slogfests, this is basically going to be the third one that isn't one of those in well over a decade.

That sounds great.

Maybe faux open worlds didn't catch on because having an open world with nothing much to do or find in it just isn't particularly compelling to most people. At least Mafia is set in a underutilized setting (for games) so seeing 1930s "Chicago" digitally recreated was part of the appeal.

But if occasionally having to drive from one objective to the next is going to make this an amazing experience to you than that's great. To me it doesn't really do much to detract from the fact everything else about this looks super generic and uninspired.

This has or was never even said let alone inferred by me lol. I have no idea what this game has going aside from the trailers. Staying blind. It's the preferred way nowadays.

Is this getting a decent ps5 pro patch? Looks like it might be worth picking up.on the cheap for some bombastic swimming in 7s and 8s fun.

It looks as soulless and fake as a cryptocurrency scam ad. A product that only exist because some old greedy suits invested during the pandemic bubble.

Looks like something the 2007 spat out and even then it would be generic, with a modern coat on top of it while at the same time looking extremely fake. This shit has more red flags than all my exes.

My biggest concern is this game is about a month away from release & so far we know nothing about it except that it's "open" world, has driving, shooting and a plot about military + tech/robots/something-or-other.

What are the gameplay systems?
What's the hook?
How big is the world?
What else can you do in it?

We know fuck all right now because they've shown fuck all, & if that's because there is fuck-all except for driving and shooting then I don't think this will go down very well in the market.

It's certainly rough around the edges visually (like an early PS4 game, being kind).

They either have big plans to reveal a lot more [about all the compelling mechanics & gameplay systems] very quickly to try to get us all excited in 4-6 weeks, or they don't have any, and should be worried HARD about how this reviews and what sales figures come in.

They must have abandon the whole Everywhere concept. Nothing at all in their promotion or when they talk about the game. Seems MindsEye was too far along to get canceled and here we are.

It looks like absolute shit. It's got the veneer of something high quality if you look at it in stills but the animation is just atrocious. Cars look like they're floating on the road. Guns do not move at all while shooting. It looks like a fake game you'd see playing in the background in a movie.

Not to mention the story looks to have political satire that's about as subtle as being punched in the face (VEGA vs MAGA... red hats... populist leader talking about being "thankful"... come on).

The new GTA6 trailer dropped today and it's extremely apparent that all the talk of the 'talent' exodus from Rockstar has been hot air. Several of the big names are gone, but the people who actually put in the hard work remain. It definitely shows. Without these talented people and the billions in Take2 money, the so-called genius Benzies has produced junk.

Feels like Saints Row 3 & 4 gameplay, effects, and mechanics, specially the driving and camera position. Stiff stuff. 🤷‍♂️
