MindsEye (ex Rockstar + IOI) releases June 10/2025

Check out the Gameplay Teaser Trailer #2 for MindsEye, a third-person action-adventure game developed by Build A Rocket Boy. Players can check out some open-world driving gameplay with some dialogue that hints at the underlying plot of the game. MindsEye is launching on June 10 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).

Let disclaimer myself: I want to like this game. I want it to be good…so what I say next is coming from a place of frustration, NOT blind nit picking

What in greatest of Tifa's titties are these ass "gameplay teasers"…I don't begrudge quicker marketing and PR cycle, but these are NOT enticing in my opinion.

No hands on? No previews? No extended gameplay? Yikes X10

Ouch. Was optimistic from the start and wanted to give this game a chance but this looks like a money laundering operation.
Not looking good at all.

An official gameplay teaser of 'drive a car through a city' is a really odd move. Might be good, might be bad, says nothing. It's like the developers are handling all the marketing and they don't have a strategy.

What kind of showcase is this? The marketing team should be ashamed.

Or is the game really that bad?

Weird, this game is hiding something

I'm sold

Lol :messenger_tears_of_joy: gameplay teaser is a totally out of context scene driving a car around and the city looks completely blurred too.
Seems like the marketing team has no clue or they're overconfident they can show whatever to get people excited or the game is really bad. We'll see.

This is the kind of game that would have needed a "building the hype" pre-launch cycle like Rockstar and CD Projekt Red did for GTA games and Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe the game will be shit (probably) but people are so angry about GTA that even a mediocre GTA wannabe would have do wonders.

But they are instead trying really hard to show it under the worst lights possible.

TLDR:
- Demo was hands off and streamed online. But the game was being played live (not pre recorded)
- Main takeaway from him is that it seemed very buggy and unfinished, which is worrying for a game supposedly launching next month. It also showed signs of performance issues though he does say some of it might just be the stream quality issues and lag. The devs, of course, said everything would be patched and fixed by release.
- The cutscenes were the highlight and overall pretty well done.
- The gameplay looks very GTA coded from the camera angles to the way the character moves and animates, the weapons wheel, time to kill, etc
- The encounter design seemed pretty basic, a lot of it is just enemies running at you
- There are Sci Fi elements but most of the weapons shown (except for one) were pretty standard ballistic weapons. They showed a late game mission where you also had a drone
- There's a whole user created aspect to the game called Arcadia (which will be available on Pc at launch) where they'll give you tools to build your own encounters and activities that you can put in the city (be he doesn't go into much detail)

Yep, another game I'll get 6-7 months from now after it's been fixed/patched at 15-20€ max.

This had Bomba written all over it since its 1st showing, it really, REALLY looked unfinished.

Yeah wait on reviews for this. Im not opposed to a 15 hour romp but if its buggy as shit its not getting a second look.

Reminder how busy next month is:
*Switch 2 launch
* Death Stranding 2
* Highly promising indie The Alters coming out.
* Stellar Blade pc release
* Steam summer sale

That covers everyone even remotely interested in gaming. So yeah, good luck.

This gave me launch Watch_Dogs vibes, and not in a good way. The lackluster city, mediocre driving, mid gunplay and tech gadgets, cringe dialogue.

It's Aiden Pierce all over again.

Edit:
Watching the other video, it's about a guy who gets a chip implanted in his brain that has messed with his memories and he doesn't like that it's messing with him? Gee, haven't heard that plot before. 🙄

I'm really not shocked to be honest, to hear this. It's disappointing though because I agree with him, why aren't there more GTA esque games? We had Sleeping Dogs, which was awesome, the first Saints Row was great too. I'd settle for a lower budget GTA clone, the eternal wait for GTA VI just isn't fun, there can exist more of these games.

Look at this thread. People are shitting on it because its not perfect. But its a new team with legitimate talent.

Not some fucking shit Ubisoft corporate slop.

But people will buy Ubislop and ignore this game

This actually sounds promising!

I will never understand why these game companies that make these huge open worlds don't allow users to help them fill-in the city. Just having the option to create NPCs with a real backstory and some dialogue, along with simple missions (fetch quests, base level money making activities, etc.) could really add life to a game. Having the option to add encounters/activities that are user-created would be a lot of fun. There are so many games with really detailed locations in open worlds (like GTA and Saints Row - as well as L.A. Noire, and then all of the AC games) that could be brought to life with user-generated content. I would be really into this.

But, as always, I won't get my hopes up for this particular iteration of this. In all likelihood, it will be bare bones.

Just because Leslie Benzies' name is attached to the project doesn't mean it's instantly good.

Every new video they've shown for the game makes it look like an extremely generic action game that's too full of itself, like Ubisoft's "corporate slop" Watch_Dogs, with a store-brand version of CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077's plot.

You'll have to pardon me if I am skeptical of the supposed "talent" of this team if what they've shown so far is the best they can do.

It's just like The Callisto Protocol.
Amazing cutscenes (and graphics) but bad gameplay with bugs.

Deeply unserious post. People are shitting on this because it kinda looks like shit. Not sure what Ubi has to do with anything.

You think people are going to drop 60 bucks "because it's a new team with talent"?

"Yeah the game looks pretty bad but hey it's a new team with talent so I'll gladly pay 60 bucks for a bad experience"

My biggest concern is this game is about a month away from release & so far we know nothing about it except that it's "open" world, has driving, shooting and a plot about military + tech/robots/something-or-other.

What are the gameplay systems?
What's the hook?
How big is the world?
What else can you do in it?

We know fuck all right now because they've shown fuck all, & if that's because there is fuck-all except for driving and shooting then I don't think this will go down very well in the market.

It's certainly rough around the edges visually (like an early PS4 game, being kind).

They either have big plans to reveal a lot more [about all the compelling mechanics & gameplay systems] very quickly to try to get us all excited in 4-6 weeks, or they don't have any, and should be worried HARD about how this reviews and what sales figures come in.
Reiterating for emphasis

If it is not broken, fun to play, looks decent but not AAAA and costs less than modern AAAA games yes we should.

This is almost like when a famous athelete has a child and now the child tries to replicate dads achievments and is never as good. I wish Benzie just made a different type of game because everyone is going to compare it to GTA which is unreasonable considering it has unlimited budget and time for development.

So it's basically a nepogame

game looks like 6/10

We know nothing about this game, very suspicious.

I liked Watch Dogs for what it was personally. And I prefer a lot the first over the sequel. If it's like this I'm more than happy.

I'm keeping my expectations for this simple.

I will give it a chance if I play the intro mission and it is NOT based on a group of 4 friends who "often engage in criminal activities together to afford their rent and student loans."

im gonna try it , i think it looks like a decent 7/10 game
honestly?
I am all in for a simple cover shooter with driving around the city.
been a while since we had a "normal" game like that.
But it looks to be a broken mess... but as of now - I am looking to get it unless they ask 70$ for it. Then I will wait for some reviews
