An oldie but it was played in that mau5 set I posted, still to this day one of my favorite electro house tracks, really wish there was more stuff that was this good down this alley. This was way ahead of its time

deadmau5 "FML"

This is driving me insane.

Can anyone ID the 2nd track, that has the piano riff in? Start about 50 seconds in on the "Our boy Weiss welcomes RIVA STARR and Dennis Cruz to Egg London this Friday! This is Weiss City..." video.

Awesome song but I couldn't figure it out either :( sorry!

Please help ID this song.
Overplayed when it was hot and beyond.
Late 90s - Early 00s ???

Take just the piano/synth melody from Eric Prydz - Pjanoo

Now instead of piano imagine hard string-piano synth applied to the same melody. Also toned way down to be not nearly as sunny.
Now for backing imagine hard beats, trance just shy of acid. Lots of breaks with just that melody playing. Changing sounds for the same melody.

Shot in the dark here.

Is there any chance it's just a remix of that song? There's a bunch of official remixes you could check out

Grabbed from the mau5 twitch stream, setting up his new live show. Looks like he's going to be doing something fairly similar to his old show - split up the tracks through the presonus mixer, control individual channels through a variety of instruments, ex. the Moog voyager, 2x Virus TIs, with a giant touch screen running some sort of touch OSC program through Ableton. I'm guessing there will be some modulars on stage too like last time that aren't pictured here.

The bigger point here is: there's a tour coming. Soon.

Edit: OSC program is in-house, here's a better look at it. Love the "fuck off"

FINALLY! I AM FREE!!!!
I know most of you don't care, but for the sake of resolution I found the song I was looking for.

A friend told me it was Darude as a joke (but I had already checked all their songs.) However, I remember the song being attributed to many different acts when it released. I finally stumbled across the song (mislabeled) on an old archive.

It was "Pitchin' (In Every Direction)" by Hi-Gate.

I can confirm this is Pitchin by Hi-Gate (a mixed version though). Possibly from some compilation. Darude never did a track named 'Ecstacy'. This same track is also cracked up as "Infected Mushroom - Trippy Shit". Another millenium myth

Hopefully you can understand why I thought it sounded like Pjanoo. If not apologies for the false lead. I'm free!

Welcome to how I felt for five years of college. I'd spent night and day writing music only to be reminded that I also had shitty projects or exams that I had to do lol

Needless to say going to festivals didn't help either

Bassnectar's new album "Unlimited" is out. I'm not a Bassnectar fan myself so I haven't listened but reviews have been pretty lukewarm apparently. Thought I'd post here that it's out anyway in case anyone wants to check it out

Monstercat has been lacking lately. The newest Vicetone track, with them returning to Monstercat, is pretty disappointing. Is it different from the rest of Monstercat's releases? Eh, I wouldn't say it is but from the latest releases, Vicetone's latest track is different to a degree. I find that it is nice to hear from Vicetone on Spinnin' because they do bring something different compared to the rest of Spinnin's releases.

Vicetone - Nevada Ft. Cozi

It's got some Future House going on which I don't really like. Vocals are decent.

New track from Dillon Francis, GTA also but they were not credited in the title due to record deal complications since GTA is releasing an album and they didn't want to wait to release the track.

That said as much as I like Dillon as a guy he's probably the most inconsistent artist I know, his marketing is usually better than his music. "Need You" was great but since then the songs he's put out are just not all that good, it's like once in a blue moon he'll put out a good song with a lot of filler in between. "Candy" is predictable and generic, it just feels like to me an artist should keep moving forward but every time Dillon takes a step forward he takes 2 steps back. I gotta say when I found out the whole "Gerald" gimmick on his snapchat was just a marketing scheme I couldn't help but roll my eyes, so I wasn't impressed when I found out the song wasn't too hot either.

The music video is um... odd as well.

I find most releases from Monstercat to be lacking. It's not that their releases are bad, but their releases are often missing that touch of quality and detail for some reason. *shrug*

Wanted to share this amazing live-remix with all of you. ^_^

Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition (Youngr Bootleg)
Thanks for sharing, this is great

I felt that way a few years ago, especially when they seemed to be filled to the brim with Skrillex wannabes

I think they've definitely turned around since then and are pretty damn good in general now.

If you (or anyone who wants to) could post some notable ones I'd love to hear, I'm not an avid Monstercat follower needless to say so I'm not super familiar with the better stuff

Just some personal faves off the top of my head, not particularly exhaustive

Muzzy - Endgame

Hyper Potions & Subtact - Adventures

Noisestorm - Breakdown VIP

Using Rameses B as an example feels a bit like cheating but oh well :p

Slips & Slurs x Mihka! - WiFi Tears

Tristam - My Friend

Direct - Parallax

Direct & Labisch - Better World

Man wtf it's been almost 4 years since Rameses B started releasing on Monstercat. Feels like yesterday.

Hahaha the dislikes and comments on the Direct - Parallax video made me laugh. Those guys clearly haven't listened to much Burial! :p About to sleep but I scanned through them briefly and some pretty good stuff here I'll have to check out more later, the DNB stuff in particular

Funny you mention Burial since I'm pretty sure he posted a recreation of a Burial track on his soundcloud a while ago...

Hmm I can't find it, maybe made it private...

Aw yeah you can find it on google but it's been removed

"I remade part of 'Burial - Archangel"

It was really faithful

Hmm might have to dig for that see what I can find, that sounds interesting

You can't recreate or remix early Burial, Untrue is perfection. His more recent stuff on the other hand is debatable.

Anyways thought I'd check the Glastonbury stream last night and Fatboy Slim was playing. He's still got it. Tickets booked immediately to see him.

Oh dude he fucking killed it when I saw him at EDC last year, was completely shocked by how good his set was, I went in expecting very little

EDIT: Just wanna add I'm leaning to agree with you. There's something to be said about avoiding re-visiting art and maintaining its original creation. The artist had an intention and vision at the time and sometimes the altered product sways from that.

As old as he is and as many times he's been in and out of rehab, I am stunned.

Though he crushed EDCLV last year, I still prefer his older sets(saw him in 2001 and it was bonkers). He has moved to a more "big room" sound vs his old days of breaks and big beat. Still an absolute legend and props to him never selling out to the pop EDM sound.

The thing is though it was a straight recreation, no altering of vision. Almost a tech demo of sorts, just to test his ability I guess? I wish it still existed, cause it was very on point.

The thing is when you do that you're inherently going to approach it a bit differently. For example if I revisited tracks I made three years ago, even if I kept it exactly the same, there are improvements engineering wise I would make, thus diverting slightly from the original. It's bound to be true whether the artist is conscious about it or not, even if the actual music is a straight recreation. I'm not saying it's "bad" because I've heard tracks improved, I just mean there's something to be captured and kept about art that was created in somebody's life at that given moment, where they were as an artist, etc. I'd still like to hear the recreation if I stumble upon it.
