EDM |OT| Future Flo-Rida Hits

Wow you must really like this song to post it twice.

I don't blame you, it's actually really good.
I hope the edit is okay, I don't really know the procedure when I do that to be honest. Back to music, that guy is actually a small-time producer down here. He travels nationally to do gigs but is still on a smaller scale. He's a really cool guy though, everyone jokes about his name though because they say its lame. I donno.

Yeah the edit is fine, it's not really a big deal. I was just joking around haha. I really did like the song though, it was very groovy. I may check out some of his other stuff.

What are the chances Porter Robinson is an anime fan? Speaking of Porter, anyone else see that BT called him out for being ungrateful?
There's an extremely high chance that Porter is an anime fan. He, like most of us, spends a lot of his time on the internet. Not to say that means he likes anime but there's a high chance. Also, he seems like one of the humblest DJ/Producer's there is. I watched his interview from the Language Tour and although it could have been faked he just seemed so humbled and taken aback by it all. The last thing I would expect would be for him to be ungrateful.

BT is no stranger to calling people, or things, out. He called out Paul Oakenfold a long time ago for basically putting his name on a bunch of stuff, including music, that he had very little or nothing to do with. He also called out the EDM magazines for constantly pushing "new trends" and basically said they are responsible for making EDM fans attention Deficit. I just saw that even more recently he called out Borgore for objectifying young girls and smoking crack.

I think his words about Porter were not that bad, just really saying not to forget where you came from and who helped you. Here is the article if you are interested.

This guy sounds like a first class prick. Porter is definitely extremely humble. I've seen his studio and the way he travels on tour. He doesn't stay in over-the-top hotels or constantly try to draw attention to himself. He's just another guy doing what he loves. I blame the guy's accusations on jealousy.

I honestly don't think BT is jealous of Porter. BT is a electronic music titan and very well known. I bet he also makes more per gig than Porter as well. I think he's just irritable and getting old.

Then he shouldn't be wasting his time on Porter. I'm not complaining, because all it does is promote Porter's music.

Go to the link that Deadly posted. BT doesn't really sound bitter or even angry, playing the disappointed angle. He even says that he wants people to hear his music because he thinks he is gifted, but he was upset that he was blown off, I am assuming on multiple occasions, by Porter. I don't know Porter personally, but the claim isn't that he is acting like Steve Aoki, just may be getting caught up in himself, which unless you know and work with him, it's pretty hard to dispute.

BT, being the veteran he is, has been pretty noble in the things he speaks up about. If he doesn't like how something is, he speaks up. Even though he is getting older, he doesn't come off as a crotchety old man, just follow him on twitter and you will see, many things he says are positive. Anyway, I think he really likes Porter, just wanted to give him a little perspective.

Reading what you just wrote makes me think he almost wants to mentor Porter to ensure that he gets to the heights that he's capable of. Sorry for criticizing BT's opinion!

no worries, I know I get defensive when people say bad things about artists I like. I think the BT calling out Poryer is a little sensationalized. Their situation can probably be cleared up with a phone call.

Cyril Hahn is a beast.
I was gonna mention that you posted a sweet mix by him the other day. That track posted is pretty awesome too.

Found Pendulum's Essential Mix from back in 2005. The Drum n Bass GOAT

C'mon! I like Pendulum and all, but they're not the D'n'B GOAT.

Yup. If I'm not mistaken he played this track in that mix too.

I'm going to see Audien and Adrian Lux at Webster Hall in about an hour, should be some good stuff. Haven't seen either of them live but I love their music.

Posted on Gareth Emery's FB page yesterday:

Just took a bizarre unsolicited phone call from a publicity company who help DJs promote themselves for the Top 100 poll, who told me I should be aware one of my ‘competitors’ (as she put it) was spending $15,000 on Twitter advertising alone, and unless I got on that sort of level, I would find it ‘hard to compete’. Obviously not going to say who the DJ was, but I was nearly sick in my mouth.

So here’s an alternative Top 100 message: Don’t vote for me. Seriously, when you buy a ticket to see me in a club, I consider that a vote. When you blast my music in your car, or share it on Facebook, or tell your friends about it, that’s a vote too. Those votes, and the amazing support you’ve shown over the last year, is what matters to me.

If you did plan on voting for me, give that vote instead to the DJs you see spending their money on promoted tweets, sponsored stories, banner adverts, rebranded twitter pages, etc. If they care that much about their number, just let them have it.

In return for your non-votes, rather than spend an amount on a campaign that would probably buy a school in Africa, I am going to donate the same amount to charity, and maybe some good can come out of this.

Actually how about this… I’ll post a poll of my own tomorrow with some various charities that I like and you guys can vote to decide which ones I will donate to. Together we can do something good. A poll where I’ll be proud, rather than ashamed, to ask for your votes.

Back soon,

Gaz

Who takes the DJ mag top-100 seriously then?

It's not unheard of for djs to be buying votes.

The top 100 list is bogus anyway. I can't see the list not being effected by what gets radio play, pr companies selling advertising and votes, and "trends" that are circulated by the very magazine putting out the top 100 list.

The top 100 has very little influence of what I listen to, only when it effects the blogs I visit.

I don't know why, but my first thought was Tiesto. This is not based on any sort of informed guessing, just a gut instinct which is probably wrong.

i was thinking on Getta but Tiesto may be too.

Damn it. I really want this track.

Yeah me too. Myon and SHane are awesome remixers and I love all the stuff from Late Night Alumni. Every album they release is better than the older one, the last one is incredible.

Tiesto just strikes me as being particularly douchey, so I guess that's why my first thought went to him lol.

I don't know why Afrojack is in that video, he is guilty of whoring himself out every time voting comes around. DJ Mag turns into more of a joke every year lol, i love it.

Do clubs use the DJ mag list to book shows?

Sadly yes. Of course not all clubs do but the ones with tons of money use the list. I guess another benefit of being high up means you can expect more per set. The whole thing is dumb but shit, I still vote anyways. Gareth Emery recently summed the whole thing up pretty well on his facebook page.

Here is what he said:

Just took a bizarre unsolicited phone call from a publicity company who help DJs promote themselves for the Top 100 poll, who told me I should be aware one of my ‘competitors’ (as she put it) was spending $15,000 on Twitter advertising alone, and unless I got on that sort of level, I would find it ‘hard to compete’. With tickets disappearing in record time to this year’s edition, Tomorrowland has sealed its standing as one of the world’s most desirable festivals. Nearly 200,000 people will make the pilgrimage to the Flemish town of Boom this summer for three ridiculously huge days. Stretching from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 July, the festival covers dance music in all its shades, from the biggest names on the mainstage to specialist arenas catering for dubstep, trance, techno, house, drum & bass, hard dance and more. Now there’s some good news for those of us looking on with extreme FOMO: ID&T is once again partnering with YouTube to broadcast Tomorrowland TV, which will bring the festival “to the entire planet” over that weekend.

The live footage will be shot in HD and include sets, interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage. In 2012, a crew of some 173 people ran the stream from a custom-built studio on-site. The YouTube hook-up certainly makes sense, as Tomorrowland’s after-movies have amassed millions of views. With this year’s rapid sell-out and the festival’s most extensive line-up yet, there’ll be many would-be punters tuning in and wishing they were there.

On the Main Stage this year, it’s over to Tiesto, Hardwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Avicii, Armin van Buuren – and on Sunday, a three-man DJ set from Afrojack, Nicky Romero and David Guetta. Aside from the biggest amphitheatre, the set times might bring the pain for anyone who wants to take it all in. The Carl Cox and Friends arena sees the big man joined by Loco Dice, John Digweed, Marco Carola and more, Markus Schulz does a 12-hour marathon set on the Friday, Q-dance has its dedicated corner of the festival for the hard dance fanatics, and there’s so much more.

Tomorrowland TV will stream from from 9PM to 2AM CEST each day of the festival, 26, 27 and 28 July.Check out the promo video below, which sums up how some of us will be spending the weekend.

http://youtu.be/l5sErSU-WgU

I wish it was streaming more than 5 hours each day,but I guess it's better than nothing at all.

I want to go to Tomorrowland one day.

I cant even imagine what it's like there. so far this summer I went to summer camp and electric forest. the forest was one of the best weekends of my life. that place is just incredible. ive still got summer set and north coast left this summer so those should be dope but none of them get as close to the amount of people that hit up tomorrowland.

Candyland is releasing, for free, one remix a night until all remixes are released for the Bring the Rain EP, 11 remixes in all. So far they have released the Butch Clancy and Jay Cosmic remixes. Check their soundcloud here for updates on the release. They also post it on their facebook page here.
