I can't do music while doing the deed. I've tried it and it is just too weird for me. What are your favorite songs off that album, I may want to check 'em out. I wouldn't say I listen to chill out often, but I do like some ambient tracks bordering on chill out, but most of the tracks i like lack that super tight snare hit. You know the one i'm talking about.

Dude, music during sex is incredible, especially if it's all surreal and ethnic. I feel like it adds a lot to the atmosphere.

This album isn't exactly chillout in the sense that it lacks a beat, but it's very loungey and I'd say a cross between deep house and chillout. It's great to play every now and then when you're in a certain mood and dance music just won't cut it. Here are a few of the standouts for me on the album:

Naomi - White - love the breakdown @ 1:50

Panjabi Hit Squad - Hasdi Hasdi (Hit Squad Mix)

Nomadix - Chura Liya

Alhoeverah - Tan Cani - this track has a sick flamenco vibe going for it

Wow that's a great track. I made the mistake of clicking on that link with my headphones set to max volume lol, that was quite a shock.
Yeah, that song was actually the first time I heard of F.O.O.L or Let's Be Friends. Purchased the EP, which has the full version of the songs on it, definitely don't regret my purchase at all - especially because it seems like Beatport has calmed down on their ridiculous markups for lossless tracks.

Another fantastic EP is Friends On Mushrooms - Vol. 2 which features collabs with Savant, Pegboard Nerds, and Kelsey Karter (that Now is Gold track I posted earlier).

Labor Day Weekend.

Edit: Never mind, that was for last year!

Man, Armin at Marquee on Friday into Gareth Emery at Marquee Day Club on Saturday... so good. If only work would have let me wait on my vacation until the end of August.

EDIT: Tritonal, then Sander van Doorn and W&W? I'd spend nearly all of Labor Day weekend at Marquee god damn!

I have to settle for Electric Zoo on Sunday this Labor Day weekend, but knowing that sort of Labor Day lineup means I have a bachelor party to carefully schedule next year for myself.

BT's new album A Song Across Wires it out tomorrow (or tonight digitally I'm assuming).

Should be pretty awesome, I already really like Skylarking, Tomahawk, Must be the Love and Surrounded.

Yeah very excited for tomorrow.

It's weird, when These Hopeful Machines was released GAF seemed to be exploding but I haven't heard any hype for this album at all. Maybe BT released too much side stuff in between? I posted about this album on the Groundbreaking Electronic Music Thread and they basically shunned it. :(

Love this:

Skylarking is a beastly track. I didn't realize BT's album was dropping tomorrow, this is very exciting news.

In other news, I'm flying to Mykonos on Saturday to spend a week there partying on the beach and partying in clubs and listening to EDM nonstop. I am SOOO PSYCHED.

A portion of this album has been released in single format so it's not like you're getting an entire album of new stuff. I know These Hopeful Machines did something similar, releasing 2, maybe 3, tracks in single format then releasing the album. I don't remember any mega hype behind any of BT's albums aside from people who are his fans.

As soon as I heard Skylarking I thought it was the Trance track of the year, I still think so. I've used it as an example of capturing the classic Trance sound at the same time as making it sound modern. I don't give a shit what anyone says about BT, he is a force of good in the music industry. I don't need to hear that his first albums are good blah blah blah, his new shit is good and the quality is as good as it's ever been. Funny enough, BT encourages new production techniques and he encourages artists to share these techniques with each other so that we can all have better music.

I hope he worked with Ulrich Schnauss on this new album as well.

Yeah I heard the 3 tracks but Skylarking is clearly a monster song. There was definitely a lot of hype surrounding These Hopeful Machines on GAF - that's how I discovered it, by reading all the hype on the OT thread and all the 2010 GAF album of the year posts. I can literally count 6 posts about Song Across Wires in entire GAF though. Stardom is fleeting I guess.

Hoping EDM can deliver me from another long trip. Six hours to Gainesville on Saturday, then six to Louisiana on Sunday. Hit me with awesome sets please.

Ideal: breakbreats and/or trance. The harder the better.

Can't WAIT for BT's new album. Does it have a thread yet?

It does now!

I got you covered

New Russ Chimes mix: Really Funky House. good for groovin, but not exactly what you asked for. Some of the bass just sounds so nice though.

New mix by Pierce Fulton: An hour long set of PRog House gems, Fulton is the man so listen.

Here is a 2 hour Breakbeat mix: Give a shout to DJ Sharted if you gotta chance, he's the man.

Definitely using the third, I'm good with the second. Maybe on the first, long as it keeps me awake.

Thanks!

I guess I should have described the second one more accurately. It's mostly Trance influenced by program house a little, just look at the artists and you can see its Trance. Either way take what you want, they're just suggestions and I'm glad I can help :)

I really like listening to Daft Punk and deadmau5. I'm looking for 3 other artists to listen to.

If you like Daft Punk check out other nu disco artists: Fred Falke, Classixx, Goldroom.

deadmau5 is harder to emulate, but I'd say check out some of the more ambient producers like Amon Tobin, and maybe check out old school Kaskade.

Meh :/

As much as Vegas is trying to become the "New Ibiza" they really are lacking in musical variety.

Whats with 95% Electro/Pop house DJ's?

No House/Tech House/Deep House, Techno, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, and a tiny amount of Trance.

Speaking of other types of music, has anyone here heard of Luvstep? It's this nice, chill brand of dubstep that could almost be considered romantic/sexual in tone. I really like it, and there's a few albums out there that are quite good:

6 Mojo - Blues [Terrorhythm Recordings]
7 Subscape - A Lot To Learn [Dub Police Records]
8 Foxes - Youth (Adventure Club Remix) [Neon Gold]
9 Other Echoes feat. Alice Smith - You'll Be My Medicine [Hospital Records]
10 Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 (Xilent Remix) [Polydor Ltd.]
11 Emeli Sandé - My Kind Of Love (Gemini Remix) [Virgin UK]
12 Seven Lions - Days To Come (feat. Fiora) [OWSLA]
13 Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Household Goods (Zeds Dead Remix) [Polydor Ltd.]
14 Sébastien Tellier - Russian Attractions (Axel Le Baron Remix) [Record Makers]
15 Little Jinder - Parked My Heart [Unreleased]
16 Twigs - Ache [Twigs]

But those are all Wubstep artists. lol. Funny that I have a majority of those songs already, I guess that makes me a fan of Luvstep. I'm guessing they are trying to sell it as a brand vs. a genre.

I feel compelled to post this. This is Sasha's mix (aka Disc 1: North) from the first in Sasha and Digweed's incredible Northern Exposure series. It was released in 1996 and remains to this day, for me, as one of the most gorgeous, masterfully constructed, goose-bump inducing mixes I've ever heard. If you've never heard it, do yourself a favor and listen. This thing is a true journey.

Amazing mix. I really miss old Sasha, before he turned into a more minimal sound :/

One of my favorite all time albums-

Beautiful, melodic, and banging progressive. Sooooooo amazing.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Sasha's recent sound. But back in the day, that guy was a Prog House god. His Global Underground: Ibiza set is classic.
