Genius is rad, gonna listen to that later.

Saw RL Grime last night in NYC. Dude puts on a fucking amazing show. If you guys have the opportunity, I highly recommend it. He does an insane job of mixing stuff from his album into just straight up party/festival style EDM/trap tunes. Hearing one of his tracks run into Knife Party - Boss Mode was mind expanding haha.

Got to see Lowriderz, also known as An-Ten-Nae and Laura Low, this weekend at a tiny club here in town. A local DJ crew provided the sound system so it actually sounded pretty good, way better than any club system in town. Much bass was had by all.

So what's the NYE plans for everyone?

NYC has Jack U and Yellow Claw at the MSG... For music, that would be my top pick if I could go anywhere.

Closer to home, Bay Area has Sea of Dreams, Pretty Lights for 2 nights, with Glitch Mob going on tonight, and a bunch of other stuff for tomorrow. Unfortunately I won't make it this year.

The good news is that we're hosting a party in our studio (art studio... not a studio apartment). Full DJ setup, lights, open bar, etc. I've been talking with the DJ and it's looking like mostly trap and hip hop, we're going for accessibility. Personally I would mix in some dubstep/electro/glitch but we're going for more of an alcohol vibe rather than a psychedelic vibe. I'm not going to let him play any cliche old school hip hop, you know what I mean... I want good clean modern-mastered 808 sounds...

He got some new subs recently that I haven't heard yet... hoping for the best.

South Beach / Downtown Miami has a bunch of stuff going on tonight and tomorrow but the prices are beyond outrageous. Nicky Romero is at Liv tomorrow, $500+ for a general admission ticket lol. Steve Aoki is playing Story tonight and it's $90 general admission.

Being on the East Coast Ultra is the by far the best streamed music event. Don't have to stay up til 4 in the morning or something crazy and they actually stream live instead of delayed. They also will show a set for a good amount of time instead of jumping around every 5 minutes (I'm talking to you Tomorrowland/world people!). I hope Prydz gets to close a night like he did last year, his set was great.

Odd, as I generally hate this type of pop big room commercial house, but something about this album that is so catchy and fun that I couldn't stop listening to it all year. Pray to God and Under Control might be my EDM guiltiest pleasures of all time.

Incredible stuff here, nearly my favorite album of the year. Every disc is flawless dark driving hard Trance/Techno/Prog. The composition here is insane, he starts deep and dark ends up banging it out with peak time tunes by disc 3-4.
