Hey there, EDMGAF! I really need a favor from y'all.

I just entered in a contest for a local festival where the grand prize is a time slot to play at the festival.

My entry is here: http://springawakeningfestival.com/dj-contest-vote?entry_id=1537
(And my mix on its own is here: https://soundcloud.com/technicolors/a-new-awakening-spring-awakening-dj-contest-mix)

All you've gotta do is enter your email, and then confirm the vote through your email, it takes like one minute and is super easy.

If you all (posters and lurkers ;P) could give me a vote (and a listen, if you're so inclined!), I would be eternally grateful. I only need to get into 15th place to be considered for the grand prize, and 15th is sitting at 409 votes, so all of your votes would be super helpful in getting me up there!

Okay, thanks for reading (and listening/voting, if you do! <3)

Now back to our regularly scheduled jams...awesome album list, L1nett. I'm most excited for WSN and Galantis.

I voted! You're great slay ha!

Could someone please Shazam Soundhound it for me? (worth a shot)

I would, but can't , I am at work and I have no speakers on my computer.

This is the first thing I tried and it returned no results :( sorry! Maybe it'll be on the soundtrack when that comes out.

New Ten Walls

So good. As always

Ten Walls kills. Wish I could see him live, I'm sure he puts on an awesome show.

I really liked that mix Sai-kun! It felt stylistically unique throughout and I found some new song to listen to lol.

Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen, and I'm super happy you enjoyed it! :D thank you to Dany and CJ as well :) every vote helps~

Thanks, now that I am at home I gave Soundhound quite a few runs before I got a Kyodai as artist, Listening a few tracks from Kyodai on YT, the sound seems accurate, but the track may be one of those unreleased, improvised ones.

The new debut from George Fitzgerald came out today and it's excellent. Available on Spotify and the other usual places. Quick review from The Guardian that sums it up well. Strongly recommend checking it out:

The fading love of George FitzGerald’s debut is as much for the club scene that nurtured him as for the girlfriend he was splitting up with at the time. Disillusioned with the remorseless euphoria of computer-made EDM, he turned to analogue instruments and drew on the influence of more emotionally nuanced ravers such as Leftfield and Underworld to reflect his mood. The result is an intimate and beautifully textured record that is free of club bangers. But though these tracks are largely elegiac in tone, they still seek out the consolations of the dancefloor, delivering pulsing beats and warm surges of melody.

David Guetta said:
“Something crazy happened to me on the [first weekend],” he says. “I’m using Rekordbox and Pioneer to play, and before I saved my playlist to my SD card, my computer crashed. So I just had to put all my music in a random order on USB sticks at the last minute, doing it really old school, scrolling to look for the records I wanted to play next.”

Hahahahahaha

Look, I know DJs have pre-planned sets and it's not necessarily "wrong". But what I take issue with is that he calls the kind of DJing he's describing as "really old school"

Does this surprise anyone?

While not my cup of tea, he is a great producer, guy can crank out hits, but as far as DJing he flat out sucks. I can only imagine what would happen if he had to play a slow building opener set LOL

Unfortunately, he's not much of a producer either. If you look up the credits to any of his tracks it has like 5-6 writers & producers, and Joachim Garraud has openly talked about producing for Guetta in past years.

The thing about guys who have ghost producers is, honestly you can hear it. Think about it, he doesn't have a signature "sound" like other producers, they all sound like they were made by someone different, you know? Like if you listen to Titanium you can clearly hear it was made by Afrojack. Same with Lovers on the Sun and Avicii.

Just look at the credits for his album: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listen_(David_Guetta_album)

Then look at Madeon's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_(Madeon_album)

Thinking of pondering

It lands on my spring break too now which makes it tempting. To be honest though I'm wondering if it's really a good idea. I'm thinking of just going for Miami Music Week instead. The thing is it lands on a lot of peoples' spring break now, and it already has kind of a "bro" culture to it.

If anyone who's been to Ultra can give their opinion it'd be appreciated

Omnia was fucking awesome and them having a fucking EDM and a fucking Hip Hop room in the same club is absolutely bat shit awesome.

They even let us move our bottle service to the other room half way through the night so we could experience both sides.

That's rad. First time I went to this club called 1015 in San Francisco was kinda mind blowing like that too. They had top 40 stuff in the first room, dub/drum n bass in the basement, edm/techno on the 2nd floor, and hip-hop/house in the main room. My cousins and I spent like 4 hours there, it was rad.

How's the hip hop side? Going first weekend of June (in addition to EDC) but most of the group aren't electronic music fans. Also, is it reasonable to get around inside Omnia? Or is it stupid packed like Hakkasan?

We spent like 60% of our time on the hip hop side and my friends who aren't into EDM loved it.

The EDM side is the main room and is literally a fucking light show. I mean if you're gonna roll lol it's going to be some next level shit.

It was pretty damn packed and prices were through the roof, but this was mega fight weekend so i cant speak for normal weeks. I can assure you EDC week is going to be nuts like it always is, but first week of June not so sure. The EDM side bottle service was running at about 20 grand minimum while hip hop was about 10K. But from what i heard normally half of that or even less for regular weeks.

Their service was pretty top notch with everyone else, crowd was good on both but I'm be real hip hop side was def 100% better.

You're gonna have EDC to go apeshit with EDM anyways, i wouldn't bank on Omnia EDM room to do much even though the visuals were amazing. Even though hip hop side much smaller it's just as good if not better.

Ah yes, the old 1015 Folsom... Probably been there over 20 times (I live in the Bay Area and they host a lot of EDM dance parties). Glad you liked it.

OMG 1015

So many cracked out memories of that place. Probably my favorite club of all time. Multiple floors with every genre of music from Jungle to Hip Hop to Trance(which was great as Electronic music wasn't popular back then, and we could bring friends and they could listen to Hip Hop). Main room was always dark, sweaty, and played mostly Trance and Progressive.

When Tiesto used to be awesome

One of my best nights ever was at 1015 SF around 1999-2000. It was Sasha+Digweed+Max Graham back to back set till 7am. I probably ate an ounce of mushrooms and 3 triple stacked dolphins and didn't sleep for 2 days lol. Dark prog bangers for 7 hours straight, Epic night.
