I'm having problems with online gameplay recently. A lot of disconnections, and sometimes insta death after I return to my world. So I did a little research and found this: Youtube.

They say this is the same thing that happened in every other souls game. And they can hack your pc too? This could happen in consoles too.

I'm going offline at this point. I would appreciate it if anyone could share their knowledge about this situation.

not really, the PS4 is jailbroken so there's a chance it might happen on PlayStation, but even there the only currently working custom firmware is behind the newest update and therefore cannot connect to PSN as far as I know.

so this happening on console is highly unlikely and on Xbox completely impossible due to no available jailbreak that could even deploy any hacks

Oh that's a relief. They all talk about gamepad button instructions for solution("press y for xbox, triangle for ps 5" etc.) so I thought it's possible.

Played online almost the entire time, and only got invaded a single time, when I had 1 person helping me through part of necropolis. We destroyed the invader pretty much instantly. Nothing will ever top the rampant insane hacking in OG Phantasy Star Online. People would join your password protected session, kill everyone in the group, pick up your weapons and then leave.

Going from this to saying they can hack your PC too feels a bit far-fetched to be honest.

It's not my opinion, everyone talks about it on internet(Reddit etc.). This hack happened on DS 3 too, you should check this 2 months old the verge news: "Dark Souls 3 exploit could let hackers take control of your entire computer". So why not?

That's always been an issue in pc souls.
They can soft ban you because their "spells" change your stats and it's detected as a cheat for the victim.
I am playing on ps5 and helping/invading quite a bit past few days without any problems or hackers
