Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Releases June 21, 2024 | Pre Orders Now Available

Crazy to think this DLC will most likely be higher quality, larger (without being empty) and loads more fun than most new AAA games that took 3x as long to develop. Say what you want about Souls like games but From Soft is doing something right!

Iā€™m a little skeptical about the June 21st release. Apparently that date is pulled from leaked GOTY edition releases of Elden Ring which include the DLC as a package. In the past, there has always been a few months gap between the DLC release and the GOTY edition that includes the DLC. The fact that this is trailer 1 means thereā€™s probably very little chance we will see ā€œAvailable Nowā€ at the end of the trailer tomorrow but there may be a chance we see this come out in April. Either way gives me some time to play FF7 and Dragons Dogma 2.

Canā€™t wait to see what FS cooked up after 2 years! Elden Ring will always hold a special place in my game library. At a time when AAA games were all following the same scripted cinematic flow and /or boring empty open worlds, I found myself bored with most games. Sometimes wondering if I was just ā€œgrowing outā€ of the hobby. Often times literally falling asleep while playing (Starfield did this to me most recently). I never enjoyed souls like games before but when I saw the scores and praise Elden Ring was getting, I couldnā€™t ignore it. I purchased a digital copy and got my ass handed to me for the next 5 hours. At first I regretted the purchase. Had I bought physical, I may have returned it but since it was digital, I kept trying. I completely sucked at the gameā€¦ but then something justā€¦ clicked. It was still very challenging but there was something about it that was genuinely the most fun Iā€™d had gaming since the PS2 era. Not to mention the open world felt like a place I wanted to explore.

No doubt the DLC will be awesome! Gotta wonder where they go from here now that they own the IP.
I also never played a souls game before ER and this game made me obsessed šŸ˜‚

We already know what this is. A new too hard area. Annoyingly hard area with enemies that scale way beyond ng but with weapons that canā€™t be too powerful for ng.
As usually itā€™s going to be awesome but annoyingly difficult.
I never liked the idea that all the souls dlc is is more difficulty. People donā€™t play this only for difficulty

Why spoil it

This is gonna be messy to sort out...
The EU/US version are the same (same CUSA number), but weirdly the PS5 versions have a PPSA number for US and another for EU.
So if I got the US version, did free upgrade for PS5 version with an EU account, in which store do I buy the DLC to play with the EU account?

I think Souls DLC is mostly balanced to where it's placed in the game, with DS3's Ariandel being more mid than late game. It doesn't help that it's easy to compare the difficulty of what you know to what's in new DLC, and the unknown will always seem worse on comparison.

Besides, Elden Ring has more options than ever to tip the balance in your favour.

I agree that this will likely be late game though, as I don't see them doing another DLC that takes this long to make.

Play in Easy mode*, problem solved.

Cannot wait

The only concern I can see with this is that my current character will be OP enough to just steamroll through the DLC in a matter of hours

I don't understand , why wouldn't you finish the main game first before jumping into this
The DLC could be re-arranging enemy placements and bosses, or adding stuff in the main campaign. Guy probably is waiting for the 'full' experience. Which is more or less what I did.
