More details on the new content in Elden Ring Tarnished Edition were revealed at the first FromSoftware Games Event Spring 2025 held today in Tokyo. Japanese journalists from Famitsu and Dengeki also attended the event in person and covered the new reveals made there.

Expanding from the initial reveal at last April's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, FromSoftware published additional details by specifying the amount of content that they will add. We have previously known that there would be new armor for the player's avatar and appearance customizations for Torrent the horse. In this event, FromSoftware revealed that they will add 4 new armor sets and 3 new selectable appearances for Torrent.

In addition, FromSoftware revealed 2 new selectable classes, which are tentatively translated from Japanese as Knight of Ides and Heavy Armored Knight. Their armor sets will constitute 2 of the 4 new armor in Tarnished Edition, and the remaining 2 sets will be obtainable in-game. FromSoftware also teased that they will add more new weapons and skills.

You can find photos of the new reveals from the events below, courtesy of Famitsu:

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which also includes content from Shadow of the Erdtree, will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. The new content added in Tarnished Edition will also be available for the existing Elden Ring releases on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC via the Tarnished Pack DLC. FromSoftware also promised in the Japanese event that the DLC pack will be available at a low price. In addition, they also used the PC version of the game to showcase the new Tarnished content at the event.

Are there really people out there that have been waiting for the Switch 2 to play ER? I get that you can play it in portable mode now but IMO the combat is way too intricate and demanding to play on a handheld.

Basically useless shit that no one will use among the hundreds of already balanced/overpowered stuff the game has. Nothing worth being dramatic about.

Yes? some people consider it difficult to find time for games to play on a tv for long periods of time. One of the reasons the Switch has been so successful is for that hybrid nature. Get out of your own bubble and realize there are a lot of different types of people out there.

The starting class is practically irrelevant in From games aside from the early game or if you really want to min-max a pvp build.

Shoot finally all this will be bundled. I made the genius idea of buying a disc version of Elden ring and sold it. Glad , I can wait a little longer so I can finish up lords of the fallen.

You misread my comment, but that's ok. Not hating on handhelds, I use my Switch in portable mode all the time. I just meant ER (specifically) feels a bit too demanding for Joy-Con precision. I struggle to parry Malenia on a pro controller, let alone on a train, etc.

Is PS4/PS5 getting a Tarnished Edition with all DLC in this & Shadow of the Erdtree on the disc?

Perfectly playable even on the Portal with added input lag from streaming.

says " they also used the PC version of the game to showcase the new Tarnished content at the event."

Geez, wonder why they did not show the S2?

Great to see new content being added to ER. Always fun to check out new armor sets and weapons. Customization for Torrent is cool too but it should've been an option from the start.

I don't feel entitled to anything, but to nickle and dime people for this after monumental success feels like they're taking the piss. Either put some content in or don't charge for what is nearly 50% horse armour in a game that is old enough to have been bled dry by any existing owner.

They better hope that Nightreign does well, they are trying to use up all of the goodwill they've built up over the years.

Witcher 3 have sold close to 3M on Switch 1… People are going to buy ER on Switch 2 for sure, +1M is almost guaranteed, same for Cyberpunk.

Not sure who would PAY for armor in a souls game that has 29083109841384 diff armor to pickup around it's world.

But... it will sell millions none the less. Not from me

Where do you see Witcher 3 selling nearly 3 million on the Switch? Genuinely curious as I googled to check as it sounded impressive, but couldn't see anything (Ive no odea where to look outside google) except the first few months having 700k.

As for this game, something feels off. From are slipping into that typical slot most successful studios fall into, money over quality / effort. This and the new multiplayer game just feels like they are beating the game to death.

Really trying to appeal to Fortnite casuals and long-time players for that extra money. Not buying. Should have used these extra assets to create a second DLC.

Lots of people play Monster Hunter handheld, and that also has intricate and demanding combat.
