Number 2 said:Wow.. worst idea ive in the last month or so. There are too many story elements in Star Wars for Bethesda to pull off correctly.. thats kind of a sad thought. What i think would work great from Bethesda is a cyberpunk rpg. Open world, hacking minigames, cyberspace worlds, scores of people devoid of any emotion, a handful of interesting characters like Mr. Johnsons.. too bad they dont have the Shadowrun license.
Zefah said:Bethesda already has enough problems with bugs and balancing in their single player RPGs. I would be certain to avoid any MMORPG endeavor from them unless it came out and received universal praise or something.
BananaBomb said:Whoa, Obsidian? Does this mean New Vegas might be significantly better than fallout 3?
From the release of Arena in 1994 until now, there hasnt really been an Elder Scrolls "clone" which i find kind of odd. The whole genre seems ripe for the taking. Especially if its something other than fantasy.X26 said:Too bad, would love a new open world medevil/fantasy game
Jeesh, such a good sub-genre and oblviion sold liek crazy...why don't other companuies make something similar? Outside Oblvion this gen there's Two Worlds, which is garbage, and nothing else.

No more fallout dlc
Fallout vegas is 3rd part developed
Wtf are they working on?
Holy hell no.delirium said:They should buy the Arcanum IP and redo that the same way they did with Fallout. Except they need to hire better writers.
Why not? Arcanum would be great in a FPS style RPG. In fact Arcanum 2 was suppose to be a FPRPG using the Source engine.Number 2 said:Holy hell no.
i dont want to get into a huge argument here. i dont think Bethesdas strengths play well to games like Fallout or Arcanum. i would much prefer Bethesda make a new ip thats built from the ground up around what they do best than shoehorning their gameplay into other franchises.delirium said:Why not? If they made it, it would't be aracnum anymore, just like when they made fallout 3, it wasn't a true fallout game.delirium said:Why not? Arcanum would be great in a FPS style RPG. In fact Arcanum 2 was suppose to be a FPRPG using the Source engine.

sillymonkey321 said:mightttttttt be sarcastic, but i thought Two Worlds was enjoyable and i'm pretty harsh on games. Maybe it was the low expectations and the fact that Oblivion's main quest was horrible ( beyond horrible, more like disgraceful), but i had some fun with the game.
Nintendo has already announced Super Mario Galaxy 2, and New Super Mario Bros. 2, SE has FF13, 13Versus and 14, MS has Halo ODST, Halo Reach etc.RadarScope1 said:Oh, bullshit.
And Nintendo has no plans for another Mario game, S-E has no plans for another Final Fantasy game and MS has no plans for another Halo game. There are always plans.

My guess is a new ES in late 2010/mid 2011.
Of course it is, which is why the series so much needed updating to the Fallout 3 format (as so many Bethesda fans have glaringly pointed out), exactly like The Elder Scrolls needs an update to the MMORPG format to go with the times. Single player cRPGs? It's not 1994 anymore.

Ausir, you either obviously don't understand the whole point of the popularity of TES for so many people on here
So? For many people the point of popularity is not the same, and the setting and lore is what's important, as well as the exploration, freeform quests and other things I mentioned. And a TES MMO will surely appeal to a new fanbase, just like Fallout 3 does not have what was the point of popularity for much of the old fanbase, but still appeals to a whole new group of fans, as well as these fans for whom the appeal was mainly the post-apocalyptic setting. A lot of people I know would love to play TES Online.
QUOTE
Any TES MMO would be made by ZeniMax Online, not Bethesda Game Studios.
Exactly - a new developer taking the franchise into a new direction.

And a lot of people I know would spew at the thought of a TES MMO.
Just like a lot of people I know would spew at the thought of Fallout being a real-time FPP game. But it did happen, and guess what? Turned out to be quite popular.
QUOTE
I could get Civilisation and turn it into an Age of Empires clone
You mean turn it from a turn-based game into a real time one, based largely on the player's reflexes? Funny you say that, since that's what Bethesda did with Fallout 3.
QUOTE
I'd also alienate the hell out of the old fanbase and destroy the basic principles that were part of the game series. "Appealing to a new fanbase" is not always a good thing.
It certainly was a good thing commercially for Fallout 3, despite alienating much of the old fanbase and abandoning the basic principles that were part of the game series.
