Yeah I don't know why Spagnuolo would take the job, it's an obvious figurehead coaching job, not much real power. It's one DESIGNED for a veteran head coach who is just looking for a paycheck.

and apparently Jerry Jones is trying to trade his 2 first rounders AND marion barber for the number 1 overall pick to take Darren McFadden. Chris Mortensen claims there might already be some framework for the deal in place and this is the reason the Dolphins were allowed to sign some of the Cowboys assistants/front office people. I don't know if its true at all, but it would be stupid for the cowboys to do this. I know JJ is in love with McFadden but thats way to much to give up. You can get a nice RB in the late 1st/early 2nd to pair with Marion Barber and be much better off IMO.

This would be the most hilarious trade since the Ricky Williams one.

2 1st rounders and MARION BARBER for McFadden?:lol

Yeah, besides, you wouldn't hear "Dallas is trying to trade" if it was that deal, the first report would be when the trade took place. Because there's no deliberation needed on Miami's part.

While you don't give up Marion Barber in that trade, the Cowboys would need to give up quite a bit more to get the first overall pick. Their two #1s are quite low (By the draft chart, they together are half the value of #1), and they'd probably have to give up a second/next year's 1 and a player or a shitload of picks in order to make the value equal.

I think it'd be a completely freaking retarded thing to do, but objectively the value may work out. Instead of picks and a decent player, they throw in a good player who is going into his last year before needing to be re-signed.

Of course, if they actually want to get rid of Barber, they can always just offer him the highest tender because somebody would sign him at the expense of a 1st and 3rd rounder, then they'd have 3 first round picks to work with and wouldn't be crucified by their fans.

I don't know whether this has been mentioned or not, but the NFL is taking another home game away from the Saints. Last season they played a "home" game in Giants Stadium against the Giants while the Superdome was closed (Because sometimes life isn't fair enough on its own, the NFL has to do what they can to fuck with you). Next year, it looks like they will be hosting San Diego from the confines of Wembley Stadium.

Ah, I can't tell you how many times I've watched Saints games and thought "God, those London fans support this team so much, it's a good thing they don't play somewhere ridiculous like New Orleans"

Where did you see this reported from, I'm curious.. I would love for the cowboys to make this trade by the way:lol

I dunno, usually PFT or AOLsports will mention if Mort says something like that. I think you're just fucking with Cowboys fans:p

I would rather have Marion Barber than Darren McFadden, especially when you consider they respective salaries. With all the quality late round/undrafted RBs in the league, who would be stupid enough to trade up for a RB anyway? Not even the Great Adrian Peterson was good enough to carry the Vikings to the playoffs.

Last year? That was more than two years ago!:lol :lol

If it's true let's hope the NFL actually gets it right this time. Pro tip fellas, if the forecast calls for rain all week, let's put a tarp down over the fuckin' field so the game isn't played in a marsh.

Barber won't be making $500k a year forever. And who knows how good he will be if he's the main guy? He certainly wore down in the second half of that Giants chokejob.

Greatest Super Bowl ever being replayed on ESPN 2.

i don't think Barber can be a feature back, but him + say Felix Jones late in the 1st round + having another 1st rounder IMO is >>>>> blowing your load on Darren McFadden

that's pretty much the general thought on the cowboys boards. if jerry trades the picks and barber, there will be blood.

Would you watch if either were on? I would be depressed knowing my team used to be so great and now has Alexis Smith behind center, Frank Gump Gore running the ball and Ashley "I have a womans name because I in fact have a vag" Lelie at wide receiver.

better to have been a great team at one time than never! frank the tank is better than any rb the broncos have, alex will be a champ with martz around, and at least lelie isn't turning bitch (again) and demanding a trade cause another WR pushed him out of the #1 slot (jwalk).

also jay cutler is a vagina.... letting phillip rivers talk shit to him like that!

I would lol pretty hard at the idea of mcfadden going #1 overall too. He's good and I don't think he'll be a bust by any means, but with a #1 pick I'd just go for jake long or some other awesome OL, regardless of the team. both will have an immediate impact their rookie year, but a stud LT/RT will be awesome for like 20 years barring any serious injuries.

I think McFadden should be a top 10 pick, but I wouldn't pick him top 3. Then again, wtf do I know, I'm not Mel Kiper.

Why would Lelie bitch about being pushed out of #1? Is the Niners WR core that crappy that Lelie is #1? For the love of God say it aint so! Say what you want about Jay Cutler but when people think "good NFL player named Alex Smith", a TE from Tampa Bay is who comes to mind. When they think #1 bust with miniature hands they think Alexis!

Walker going down cleared the path for Brandon Jesus Marshall to become my 09 spec catch WR so I can only be happy about it :D

Yeah, I wouldn't want to draft a running back that high ever really. I mean, yeah he's a great running-back, but he doesn't represent a gigantic step up from any RB you can pick up later on. That and Wide Receiver has to be the easiest position to fill later on.

On the other hand, defensive tackles and ends are pretty rare.

aside from adrian peterson, high RB's recently haven't panned out. carnell williams, ronnie brown, cedric benson.... all good, but nothing worth a top 5 pick (which all were)

Awfully nice to know Giants grabbed Brandon Jacobs after those three were off the board. :D

The Cowboys also got Marion Barber before the Giants/Jacobs selection.

My thoughts exactly. I always look for a stud on the defensive or offensive line. Those are the two most important groups on a football team.

I was only off by one season! I get that I was wrong, but by last season I meant 2006. That did seem awfully recent though, I probably should have thought things through a bit more.

Yep I know Garrett was signed prior to Phillips, but I don't know if I've ever seen a lot of the staff being signed on. So far I've seen OC, DC, and LB coach being set already. I'd imagine they'll retain almost all of the defensive staff aside from Jerry Gray sadly since he's a Williams guy.

Coaches I want to stay:
Bugel
Gray
Danny Smith
Byner

I think Byner leaves, and I'd be surprised if Bugel wants to stay anymore if Gibbs isn't around. So I hear it's either Spagnuolo or the OC of the Patriots--the rumor is Snyder has already somehow spoken to them to get their input on who they wanted for OC/DC. At least it's not Fassel, right! :lol

The Pats' OC? He's only been coaching for ONE year.:lol He'd be even worse than Mangini.

Apparently, for some reason, Snyder asked Pete Carroll if he was interested. A guy who loves the college life and wouldn't leave for anything less than insane money and full control.
