Well since I won't be here for the game I'd better get in my pick now and say my piece.
After two weeks of waiting and dealing with the hype (Brady's ankle, Plax's prediction, spygate rumblings, etc.) today's the big day. The thread title says it all: underdog Giants against undefeated Patriots and I'm sticking with Big Blue.
I don't know how much the regular season match-up plays into the teams' strategies today but just as the pundits are talking about how NE will make adjustments from that game I'm sure the Giants can and will too.
The Giants didn't stick with the run in that game and it cost them towards the end when they were trying to put it away. The Colts, the Ravens, the and Eagles all showed you can run on the Pats and both B-Jac and Bradshaw are both going to be involved this time. The Giants can hopefully play this one similar to Green Bay and play with a physical, nasty edge--stop/contain the run, keep Moss & Stallworth in front of the secondary and press them at the line, and punish Brady on every drop back. Even if they can't get to him for a sack the d-line has to hit him and disrupt his timing.
I think Steve Smith and Kevin Boss might be the key to the Giants passing game since Belicheck will do whatever he can to take away Plax and Toomer, daring Manning to make it happen without them. But if the Giants stick to the run, even for small chunks of yards at first, I think they can keep moving the chains and 3rd downs manageable.
If I had to pick a score I'd go Giants on top 34-28: with the G-Men scoring on a 16-yard TD run by Bradshaw with 1:09 left and the Giants defense holding on for one of the biggest Super Bowl upsets of all time. bELIeve!
If the miracle doesn't happen then at least there's not much shame in losing to a 19-0 team and I've always respected the Pats for at least providing every entertaining Super Bowls. Good luck Pats fans and keep it loud fellow fans of the Jints!!
