Man, Rod Woodson is just LAYING into the HOF committee. Said it should be balanced because none of those journalists strapped up a helmet. Apparently they got wind of his comments and got pissed.

Good to see Monk get in. It gives me hope that Andre Reed may have a shot down the road, I doubt it though.

wasn't Christ Carter eligible this year? How did he not make it isn't he like the 3rd best WR of all time statistically behind Rice and Brown?

He is second best receiver to play during the 90s. Brown only played longer. Carter was more dominant.

How in the did Derrick Thomas not get in. He is one of the most dominant defensive players to ever play.

He'll get in eventually. It would be absurd for him not to.

mock punters all you want, but shouldn't the greatest punter of all time be in the hall of fame?

Guy should be in the hall of fame, Thomas should have gotten in, Tagliabue should be in. But Monk has been snubbed for far too long, so it's not all bad.

how is he not in on first ballot though? Its like a basebally player being 3rd all time in HRs and RBI and not getting in the hall of fame on first ballot. Man the Football HoF is so worthless. Good to see Green get in though.

Voters have been keeping wide receivers out because of the inflation of passing numbers. They don't want to let in a shit ton of mediocre wide receivers and have been putting very strict tests for wideouts.

Michael Irvin got in on year one, and that shocked the hell out of me. Monk was for a time #1 and he didn't even get in on the first ballot. Carter's time will come. Not to mention that in football, "first ballot" doesn't mean nearly as much as it does in baseball.

All right topsyturvey and gentlemen, less than 24 hours until game time, let's get our predictions on the table for massive crow-eating afterwards.

Close game all the way through ending with a TD with less than 4 minutes left in the game.

Brady sacked twice throws at least one pick.

BJac kills two LBs and forces Seau into retirement one game early.

Giants - 31
Patriots -
35

PS: I will not be here for the game tomorrow for shit talking unless there's WiFi where I will be and I can use the ol' iPod. Someone take up the heroic Giants mantle for me.

I'm pretty sure Irvin made it in after his third year of eligibility and not his first. Agreed on everything else. HoF put a freeze on WR's for a while and now there's a backlog.

Edit: Prediction, this game has 49ers/Chargers written all over it. Pats win by at least two scores, 35-17.

Giant fans don't want me on the bandwagon, it will go down in flames, I'm a jinx. My brother is begging me to cheer on the Pats, not going to happen but I'll try my best.

Don't compare BB hall of fame they have dumb stuff too. No player has been voted unanimous. Babe Ruth, Willie Mays among other didn't even get in unanimous how dumb is that :lol

Comments like Smith's and Woodsons are why I can barely deal with ESPN anymore. Their entire business strategy relies upon signing as many washed-up or has-been professional athletes as they possibly can and then proclaiming them their knowledge to be the word of christ. Jaworski and sometimes Hodge are the only decent ones on the network.

Seriously, how can a news outlet employ Shaun King and expect us to listen to them..

I honestly think it's going to go one of two ways. Either the Giants are just going to be outmatched - have trouble getting to Brady consistently or getting there but with Brady finding Welker and Faulk time and again; have trouble getting the run game going for four quarters against the Pats front three; etc. - OR the Giants are going to win a very, very close game - they'll keep Brady on his back, force some bad throws, maybe a pick; they'll pound the ball with Jacobs, get into the secondary with him, and simply run people over down to the red zone; and Eli will play a poised, smart, mistake-free game and lead his team to the upset.

I think the biggest indicator early will be what the Giants do when they get into Pats territory. This team is going to score some points. The question is whether they are coming away with three or seven. If this game goes to halftime with the Pats winning 21-9, 14-6 or something I think it'll be clear that the Pats are coming away with it.

Perhaps I'm just covering my bases and copping out, but whatever. At the end of the day I really see the game going one of those two ways. I see a huge Pats win or a close Giants upset. For the record I see the chances being about 90-10 in favor of a big Pats win.

Scores for each prediction, but for the sake of whatever the first one is my real prediction and the one I'll either be proud of or eat crow over:

Patriots 45
Giants 19

Alternative:

Giants 31
Patriots 28

Wait what am I saying, who is this imposter that is posting under my name! Pats score with less than 4 minutes left and Easy E leads the Giants down the field and scores with 23 seconds left. Giants kickoff and the Pats fumble! Giants recover and win! 38-35 is the final!

Eli rides off into the sunset to join names such as Elway, Montana, and Dilfer in super bowl legends lore!

Nah, they will make something up to bail out the Pats. The game will forever be known as the Desert Job: a sequel to the Snow Job.

If it's any consolation, the Giants won the annual Messibowl! Go BJAC!

I'm surprised you guys aren't going ballistic about the new info about the Pats first superbowl. Supposedly there's some sort of evidence out there that they snuck a camera into the St Louis Rams pregame walk thru, which was why the Greatest Show on Turf got bogged down like a JV vs Varsity game.

This is far, FAR worse than what happened before. I really wonder if the NFL has the guts to truly investigate this, because if it's true and they were going so far as to sneak cameras into this stuff, then it's right up there with the Black Sox and Pete Rose in terms of cheating.

How is this not already being investigated?

Simple. Then there will be nothing stopping every old coach, player, assistant and what have you from coming out and popping the lid on cheating in the NFL from every team in the league going back years and years. From video tapes to signal stealing all through the years.

Per SportsCenter: The league has said that they looked into it months ago and found no evidence, a Patriots official has denied the claims and the former Patriots film guy who says he has old tapes or whatever refused to comment about that Superbowl in particular.

And Kintaro is right. Time and again former players in the media (Golick mentioned it on Thursday, even) have said that this type of thing has gone on elsewhere in the league. You have to be pretty naive to think that the Pats are the only team to ever film another team's signals.

EDIT: That said, if there is enough evidence to confirm that they taped the Rams' walkthrough prior to the game, their Championship should be revoked.

because all teams probably do it. Its like steroids. THe Rams probably don't even give a shit because they probably did the same thing (come to think of it, weren't the Rams actually accused of sending in a spy to watch another team's practice?)

This is even sillier. Ok, you revoke it. Then what? Give it to the Rams? No champion that year?

I guess I should have worded that differently. I don't think it should be revoked, but I'm guessing that's what the majority of NFL fans would demand happen.

In any event, this isn't going anywhere. There's no proof and the NFL says they couldn't find any evidence.
