Just got home from work, downloaded the new hotfix, boot up game, try to push on friends and stuff. It waits for a while, and nothing happens, then i hear a sound as if i was constantly clicking :/ And none of the menu options work, i push on them but nothing happens...
Tried to push anything else, nothing happens.... Game is broken for me at the moment
Made a post about this in their boards under this patch thread. if it gets accepted that is.
Wait for a few minutes, the clicking will stop and the menu will work again. I discovered this after having the same issue first night. A guy on the Elite forums claimed it took 4m30s every time for the clicking to stop, so give it a good amount of time.
I think it's related to connecting to the servers, but I'm not sure. Wish it was fixed, but once I got past that I didn't have any other issues.
Its mind blowing. You can't really put it into words. You have to see it, experience it for yourself. The best gaming experience in my life maybe... probably.
Details? I'd love to join in, how late will you be going?
Has anyone got the Dual Shock 4 working with this properly? Seems to act a bit strange for me. Trying to set the UI mode to "Hold B" then use the Dpad to navigate but it just wont work. The Dpad still changes engine power etc whilst I have B pressed down, but the camera moves backwards, as if to wait for input to navigate menu's.

Weird, that sounds more like a bug. Normally it should just show as "stolen" and you can only sell it on a black market. You shouldn't get a bounty. Unless....they scan you....ooops.

The consistent updates make me really glad that I backed this game.
I picked up some cargo I found in the middle of space, then stopped by Eranin to get some fuel, was granted access into the station, scanned and insta-killed by the station security for "Stolen Cargo" with a fine of 350 credits. :-|
I should have known better but there needs to be some adjustment here.

I have. It works okay. A lot of the text is unreadable, so I pretty frequently had to take off the headset and look at my monitor to see what certain menu's said, and things in the distance are pretty low res. With that said, just sitting in the cockpit and being able to look around is amazing.
The experience is miles better with DK2 though. I could play for maybe 20 minutes with the DK1, but with DK2 I played for 2-3 hours. If you only have a DK1 though, definitely give it a shot! You'll still be incredibly impressed. Once you go DK2 though, there's no looking back.
The one screen which does not work well with the Rift is the Galaxy Map. It doesn't work well with either my Rift or Joystick. Still seems to be setup for monitor + kb/m. I'm sure they'll improve that eventually though as that is the only major issue in the entire game that I've encountered.

Bought a hauler but all the large deliveries are to systems I can't reach. Like they aren't any connections from my current location anywhere that I can find. Is there a drive upgrade I can get or something? Currently in ERANIN trying to reach ACHIAUT.
Nope, you have to buy a new ship. They plan on adding addition fuel storage in the future, but I don't think its coming in this update.
Just eat the fine and start saving for that Type 6!

Bah. Should've stuck with the Sidewinder. I was making bank doing those little 1 ton cargo runs. Why even give me the option to take the mission if my ship can't reach the destination?
I think they added an additonal tip on the delivery screens about how far you need to jump and how far your current ship can jump. I ran into that problem as well, but I hauled myself out of it with a shiny new Type6!

My brother wanted to play this but he said there was complaints about the controls being frustrating and decided not to, did he hear wrong? I wanted him to play it so I could have a, erm "demo" per se before thinking about buying it.
Nice run! I was considering getting the Eagle, but holding out for the Viper.

I can't think of any real complaints that could be had about Elite's controls.

This is rediculous, i still cant log in even at this time ...
I figured it out, i could wait for an hour basically and the clicking would not stop.
i can tell you what worked for me ! I was trying to follow up on the Hardware cursor option change while your internet is disconnected. So basicaly, i plugged it back in while in the options menu, and then went to firends and groups, and it finally worked, as it connected itself i could add friends so i am sure i was online.
UPDATE: I have confirmed that this worked for me, if you enable your internet connection manually, after you have entered the menu, you are able to push on the buttons and they register ! I am now in game, after 24 hours of struggle to do so, unlike others, my waiting for 20 + minutes did not stop the clicking, adding the launcher to firewall did not help, and time sync either.

Does that thing have rudder controls, twist around z-axis?
It has double of that. Functionality wise, both in the joystick and on the other stick.
The Thrustmaster X is great, I use it myself. 30€ and it works like a charm. I don't think you'll be disappointed! The only problem I have is that the throttle likes to slide on ym table but I put something underneath it and now it's nice and steady

Well at least you can play now! I hope they fix that soon!I really like the way the Eagle looks,especially with my red paintjob. And the Viper is the new "everyone flies it" ship now,so I want to represent the Eagle as the pirate that I am
I love how every ship sounds totally different.
My old Sidewinder accelerating compared to my Eagle is like an old truck accelerating versus a Bugatti Veyron
They are slowly increasing that as they go along. Right now you will see NPCs at most stations (especially in the more populated systems) and players are usually around too, the servers just sometimes have a hard time throwing you into an instance with them.
Basically, beta gotta beta.

Been playing for around 5 hours.. I'm bad but getting better, really loving it though. It's occupying my mind like nothing I can remember. Sometimes being a jaded gamer has it's advantages when you get floored by something out of the blue. I'm contemplating upgrading my GPU for this game and I'm sure my DK2 arriving on Monday will push me over the edge. Wife's wrath be damned.

Well right now you got two options: You can preorder the game for 35pounds, which gives you the fulll game on release. Or you can buy the beta for 50pounds which gives you the full game when released plus immediate access to the current running beta.
There's always the "jettison all cargo" button....
How long is the beta on for? Whats the ETA of release?
ETA for release is "Q4 2014".
Beta is on from now till release. Although at one point they will apparently transition into what they call "Gamma" which is basically the feature complete game being tested for a month or so before release.

How does this play with kb/m? I'm really interested/excited for the game, but I'm on the fence for getting a better control setup? What about on a single joystick setup, possibly supplemented with kb? Or is a dual stick setup like the previously mention T-Flight Hotas X just the best way to go.

I can only speak for my own experience:
I tried it with KB+M for about 1 minute and it did not work at all for me.
Then i used my 360 gamepad which worked absolutely fine and that's how I played the first three days.
Once I got my Thrustmaster X I would never go back to the pad though, unless I have to.
Agreed. Runs circles around what's currently in Star Citizen. It's not even close.
