This sounds awesome but I share the weariness of the manipulative consequences it may lead. Imagine the Chinese Government with this kind of technology, scary stuff.
I am also curious of the adverse biological consequences. Remember that the nervous system isn't made of endurable material, and this enhancement of cognitive abilites sounds like overclocking your brain. Artificially firing neurons that aren't properly myelinated, for example, could lead to the dead of both cells, ending a pathway. I wouldn't be surprised that long term use of a Neuralink would lead to faster deterioriation of the brain.
Also, if Neuralink is something like an external harddrive where you can store information/memories, does that mean that you would forget all of the memories stored in the external HDD every time you take the Neuralink off? Sounds like a weird concept when we take in mind that memories are the factor behind neural networks consolidating in the brain of an adult. Integrating HDD memories could lead to modifications of these pathways to adapt to the new information. These pathways would end up useless when Neuralink is taken off, making the person even dumber than before they used the machine since it can't store both with and without Neuralink neural networks, what is not used quickly deteriorates.
It would be funny if it leads to a larger development of the cortex. Soon the big brain meme will become real:
