Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

I would kill to find a clone again.

I would also kill for the game (PS4) to stop dropping to 1 fps in Bullet Hell and crashing. That's crushing me. Hard to finally conquer that stage when the game keeps self-destructing.

Just a few more Dragun kills for the platinum, although I feel like a long way from completing the game in challenge mode. Best I can manage so far is floor 4.

Clone runs are ridiculous, the only down side is you're effectively playing for twice the length but it's so much fun to do.
Definitely - felt like a god even in bullet hell.

Yeah - this improved for a while recently but it's now back to hitching frequently. I seem to be able to deal with them without too much fuss but it would be nice for it to smooth out completely. Has it been acknowledged?

From searching around, this seems to have been happening in the game for some time. Here's a YouTube clip from a year ago showing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keOm7ilpHSE Seems like it's been reported a ton, but I can't really tell if the devs have ever made progress on fixing it.

I can deal with the tiny hitches here and there, it's just when it blows up into a complete stop-motion wreck and then crashes.

Looks like a broad patch is coming soon but unless I'm missing it, doesn't seem like it explicitly addresses this issue. Although maybe the various other optimizations will indirectly help prevent this from happening.

Thanks for the link. Was hoping to see that Hammer Time has been removed from the challenge modifiers but no dice! :'(

Also, fucking hell at the Dragun modifiers. I'm not sure I want to reach him now...

It cant possibly be worse then what happens to nuclear throne.

I've been getting into Roguelikes a little bit. Games such as Hammerwatch, Hero Siege, and Crypt of the Necrodancer. I definitely have to grab Enter the Gungeon during the next big Steam Sale. Can't believe I missed it over the winter.

For now my backlog is insane though.

Put like 30 hours into the original PC release but haven't played any of the new DLC or anything. Kind of want to play it on my big TV. Gonna double dip on the Xbone version I'm pretty sure.

So, like the Albatross trophy from Everybody's Golf on the Vita, I think I'm going to have to let the challenge mode trophy haunt me. I think I'll still dip in from time to time for a relaxing session, but other than that I'll be back in force when the DLC drops.

Congrats! This is definitely a platinum I won't get. I'll be happy to just beat the game once. But either way, I still enjoy it.
I felt exactly the same when I picked the game up, and for many MANY hours afterwards. It will come together - I don't consider myself an expert at the game by any means but the normal modes are fairly trivial now, and of course if you get lucky with your loot the whole game can be something of a joke.

Concentrate on getting better (obvious I know) and getting some stuff unlocks. Probably the single most useful thing I did when I was learning the game was to play with just the starter weapon and to focus on not getting hit.

Jeez, I thought the
Lich
having two phases was bad, but there's actually 3!

I started the fight with 9 hearts and 3 armour, Golden Gun, Polaris Level 3 and Akey-47 as well 😭

Yeah, that fight is no joke. I find the first phase typically pretty straightforward but the second I make silly mistakes on (much as I still do with Dragun) and the third can get pretty crazy.

Honestly I usually find when I get to him it's because I've had a decent run and I have good guns/items to help.

Whew, I pulled off Bullet Hell.

This stuff proved great for me on the boss: Polaris lvl 3, Disintegrator, Unicorn Horn, and Singularity. Singularity in particular was very clutch and gave me breathing room. Started the boss with 4.5 hearts, made it out with .5 or 1 left.

My remaining goals:
Kill The Bullet's past. (made it to the boss once, got sloppy)
Kill the Robot's past.
Acquire 5 Master Rounds in one run. (can get 4/5 pretty frequently)
Defeat the High Dragun in Challenge Mode or attempt Challenge Mode 30 times.
Find and use a Glass Shrine.

Now I'm a couple of hours in and I love it!

I haven't beat a chapter two boss yet but I'm having so much fun, the graphics, controls, enemy's and guns in this game are great.

I'm playing as the marine, I didn't know properly about the items till about half an hour ago and in chapter 2 there is a lot of offering stuff in trying to work out (along with what I spend the credits the bosses give me on) but the game is brill.

I swear challenge mode also screws with loot/money drops. A few challenge runs with no useful weapon drops and minimal casings, I decide to do a normal run and I'm swimming in money (135 on floor 1) and the rest of the run is pretty straightforward. :/

Is there a visual reference to the Ammonomicon online so that I can see what stuff I still need to unlock?

Picked this up on XB1 yesterday...I have no idea what I am doing, but this game is fantastic.

It's like Issac, but somehow even more engaging to me. Love the shit out of it so far.

It's more difficult to get fun overpowered combinations of items/weapons than isaac but I felt Gungeon becomes a lot more fun later on with the way the unlock system is set up. Maybe a bit too much of a grind to get there though

...Man, never underestimate the power of the clone. Totally OP.

I got so powerful, I think I didn't take any damage against Lich. Well, a win's a win. Time to unlock the secret characters.

I had a run with clone a few days ago where I got Shotgun full of Love, Charming Rounds, Cursed Rounds, Full Metal Jacket, Skeleton Key, then got a massive increase in ammo on all my guns from a shrine and Ammo Belt. My Com4nd0 had like 380 ammo on it. Then after the clone I picked up Aged Bell, Relodestone, Flak Bullets, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember.

Seems like almost all my insane runs are due to clone. Aside from Super Hot Watch it's probably the most overpowered item. I'm ok with it though; having an overpowered run is a lot more rare in Gungeon than Binding of Isaac

I noticed theres unofficial mod support for Gungeon - I'm wondering how difficult would it be to disable enemy health scaling and perhaps modify the ammo drop rates. Heck, I'd do it myself if its not too complicated.

Yeah. IMO it seems clearly designed as a 'Here, have your free win for playing for a while" item.

Just bought the game and really enjoying it. Is there any reason to continue destroying the various items in a room like the books, jars, etc.? I figured maybe there would be stuff in them but so far I have yet to find anything.

No practical reason at all. They won't drop anything ever. There's a 0,5% chance of something showing up but it is actually supposed to punish you for wasting your time.

I just picked this game up again and am loving it so far! I bought it when it came out and was into it for a few weeks or so but dropped it for some other games sadly. Farthest I ever made it then was 4th floor... I can now say I have beat the
High Dragun
as of last night, only my 2nd time making it to him :). Also collected all
4 bullet components
with the hunter. Can't wait to dive back in again!

Also, is anyone else experiencing a bug with rumble? I am playing it on PC, windows 10, using a wireless xbox one controller + dongle. Frequently the controller will rumble at max intensity for 10-15 seconds. I did some googling and found some other reports, tried the fixes (allow xinput controllers only/ turn on vsync) but neither seemed to help. Submitted a bug report but yea.

So this is coming out at some point - and it apparently addresses what I've been saying since the very start

Hey there Gungeoneers,

We are excited to announce our second major update: Advanced Gungeons & Draguns.

The focus of the update is on community requested changes, quality of life and convenience features, hundreds of new and substantially more powerful synergies, a bunch of new guns and items, and getting revenge on the Gungeon's most hated resident, our new boss. Of course there will also be new rooms, npcs, secrets, and a new mini-boss. Our primary focus was to make the Gungeon a more generous place, while retaining options, for players who really engage with the difficulty of the game.

If you tried Gungeon in the past and found it too hard, too stingy, or too slow- this update will be the version for you.
If you liked it just the way it was, don't worry, we've got you covered as well.

The aim is to release this update simultaneously, or semi-simultaneously on each platform, and yes that includes the Nintendo Switch, this fall.

I've always argued the difference between Isaac and Gungeon is that Isaac lets you have *fun* with its systems and weapons. It's less so concerned with ensuring that you earned your victory (although it can punish you for bad plays), but moreso concerned with giving you a playgroud to experiment with crazy weapons and powers. Very much looking forward to this update!

A little old (these were mentioned in a devstream at the start of Sept) but for those of you who aren't following up.

• Attempts to make the Gungeon a "friendlier place" - more generous with item drops, make player feel more powerful etc.

• Guns will interact more with other items and guns via synergies.

• 500 new synergies, some being new effects that are not stat changes.

• Gun synergy where one gun floats around you and shoots when you reload.

• Megahand synergizing with items that can relate to attacks from Megaman 2, and gaining the power of them.

• Heroine synergises in a similar manner, however unclear whether any details were given. Might relate to an ice gun.

• Synergy with "two of the ice guns" (confirmed to be Frost giant & cold 45) that summon a yeti to fight for you every so often.

• Unknown synergy between relodestone and lodestone ammolet.

• A gun which is a giant stone head that you wear and shoot bullets out of.

• Optional "accessability options."

• Turbo mode - play Gungeon in x2 speed!

• Resourceful Rat is confirmed as the new secret floor's boss.

• "20 new guns & 20 new items."

• Bunch of new room layouts.

• You can warp to chest rooms and the end of the chamber now.

• Dual wielding is in. Apparently used in multiple combos, one being Super Meat Gun and Buzzkill.

I'm personally pretty excited about the changes - Gungeon will be a far better game for it.

These changes look excellent and I really feel it'll be a better game for it.

I think one of the reasons why Isaac has stayed longer in people's rotation compared to Gungeon is just the insane amount of synergies it offers. That they're adding 500 new synergies in this tells me they understood that and that's very encouraging.

I think I'll be in for the Switch version (if it runs competently).

These people are crazy. Trying to outdo the Shovel Knight devs in terms of free new content, I see. Getting a Switch is extremely tempting just to have this on the go, but I can't justify it yet.

I really wanted to like Gungeon a lot more than I did. I will definitely be giving it another look after the patch.

Is there a date yet? It basically has to be this week right?
