Sup xenobros. I'm interested in trying out this game and was wondering about the quality of this remaster. Is it overall just better than the Wii U original game? Or is there any reason to check that one out first instead of just jumping into the remaster?
Graphics have improved but they did make it easier with things like quick cooldown and reducing the grind to level up affinity and crafting augments/gear and raising the lvl cap from 60 to 99.

Definitely the remaster. The original was incredible in its day with miiverse and everything but there's no getting that back now

WAY better... Well the NPC dialogue sucks but you can just skip that if you want. The game looks and runs great. The dubbing and delivery is fantastic and there's tons of exploration. That said it's still the same game at it's heart. So if you don't like the battle system or exploration it still might not sit well with you.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

This remaster is fantastic, I'd say much better than the original. The QoL changes are great, and its worth it for the improved faces / character models alone.

The only Xenoblade to have a post game. New elite monsters appear, there are also powerful new skells and skell mega weapons you can't get in the story playthrough. New outfits and weapons for the characters to use as well. I don't know what the new content is yet and I hope I don't find out except when I get up to it and that will be a very long time from now.
Awesome. I feel like this is a game tailor made for my tastes. I definitely see myself sinking 150-200 hours if not more.

I'm somewhat rushing to Chapter 9 so I can unlock the flight module on my Skell. Then I can truly explore the world freely. Once I reach that point I see myself easing up on the gas so I can enjoy the side content.

Is it possible to control your team members?, I looked online, but I'm getting conflicting reports.
You can swap to one of the team members in the "Active Members" menu. Select the person you want to control, and press X to set them as the active party member. You can't do this during battle, and there's no way to "quick swap" to someone else.

Other than that, you have to issue party commands with the + button during battle. Stuff like "concentrate your fire" means to tell your AI party members to all attack the same monster (in a group of monsters) or "conserve your TP" to make them save up. "Give them everything you've got" = use your strongest moves, etc.

ok i got it, i never noticed the command menu. Is it possible to pause the game in battle, or is it always active?

Thanks for the replies my dudes. I'll make sure to add this to the backlog. World, exploration and setting seem amazing to me.

Even opening the menu while not in battle doesn't actually pause the game (you can still move around with the analog stick, your skell still refuels if you're out of it, etc.) Only way I've found to actually "Pause" the game is pressing + during cut scenes, OR just straight up pressing the home button or power button to put the Switch in sleep mode.

I'm glad I got the digital version of the game, the physical I preordered through Best Buy was delayed
Same, my copy from Costco still hasn't arrived - they say maybe today.

My copy was delivered today, but I'm still busy with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2(fantastic on PS5 Pro btw).

Loved it when it released on Wii U and still have my Collectors Edition. So I can finally wrap it up and store it. It's my favourite Xenoblade game after XBC 1. Looking forward to putting another 200 hours in X.

So I've finished chapter 3 and have been scratching my ass thinking about what I should be doing now. Affinity Missions are locked behind much higher levels, Basic Missions - the ones you pick up from Mission Control don't seem to reward you with much experience points and that leaves me with a handful of low level Normal Missions to pick up and do. And aside from that I just have probes to install? Any tips on how I should move forward until I can unlock chapter 4?

I know you talked about this before but can you be able to pause the game during battle?
I don't think you can while you're in an active battle.

I've been in that same spot the last couple play sessions, I've just been doing the green sidequest missions as they give you a decent amount of XP and send you to new places. Then on the way just do a few fights, scan for wreckage, plant probes and do the survey items, hit any basic blue missions you picked up etc. Leveled up to 12 pretty quick and did an affinity mission to get to level 13. Recommended level for Chapter 4 story is 15 so shouldn't take too much longer for me (what I mentioned above was maybe 2 hours total so far).

Support Missions for quick leveling and art/skill unlocks/upgrades.

2nd one is an easy 700 exp/12 class exp/8 BP for 20-30 sec work.

Yeah I had the same problem. Felt very aimless in the early game. I think it's the developers way of encouraging players to explore?

My light bulb moment was realizing I could fight monsters 5-9 levels higher than me for massive exp gains. You can gain tons of levels that way quickly. That's how I powered past being out leveled by most of the content.

Is there an option to just automatically accept all items after battles and ditch it pausing me and sending me in to the 'item accept' window every time? Really breaks the pace at times.

Unfortunately not. Best they give you is pressing X to open all the item packages at once. Would be a welcome feature though, hopefully it's something that comes in a patch down the road - but I'm not holding my breath.

What I do is do all the side quests and affinity quests if they close to my level before moving to story quests.

I'm in no hurry to finish this game as fast as possible.

On the fence with this one. Purchased the game but not sure whether I want to wait until further clarity is provided on Switch 2 and potential BC boosts it may give to the game. Anybody else?

Get the remaster and enjoy a REAL GAME.
my dude, you know I'm always playing REAL GAMES.

Once I'm "done" with DDON I might jump into this. Was considering Monster Hunter Frontier as my next game but I think it's missing my favorite weapon, the charge blade. :goog_relieved:

I agonized about it for a bit, but I decided not to wait. I needed a new game to play, and I’m enjoying seeing what Switch can do when pushed to its absolute limit. It looks awesome on a 65” OLED even though it’s only dynamic 1080p resolution + 30 FPS.

No regrets. I’m sure I’ll have at least a few other kickass games to play when Switch 2 launches.

If this game runs at 60fps / 4K on Switch 2, it's just going to give me a reason to replay it next year.

DDON will be my forever game since leveling every vocation will take a long time. So much to do in DDON. So it gets played in downtime or if I need to wash out DD2 disappointment.
