EPA also accuses the reporter of writing the story from the "comfort of Washington" (the story was written from on-the-field reporting in Houston).

EPA releases this statement in response that claims the article is misleading, and personally attacks the reporter http://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-response-aps-misleading-story

One of the links in the statement leads to a Breitbart story

When the Agency is now in control of climate change deniers the EPA is turned into partisan shit. They have ne regard to the environment, and the response to AP article tone is very condescending and unprofessional.

I mean this 100% confirms the Trump admin is directly penning statements for agencies, using the same language and 'cadence' as Trump press releases.

Usually the EPA et al do their own public talking, but this confirms they've got all the agencies gagged and White House is using them as letterhead for WH PR.

The damage Trump has done to the epa by electing Scott Pruitt is going to be his worst lasting legacy. So many lifetime scientists with brilliant minds have quit or gotten fired because of this idiot, who was caught sending statements direcrly from oil companies to Washington on Oklahoma letterhead.

Is The Donald sitting over the EPA head's shoulders?

Also, can the AP sue the EPA for libel if they don't retract what they said? That'd be amusing.

Boy, we became a tin-pot dictatorship in record time, didn't we? State-issued propaganda and attacks on anyone questioning or criticizing the administration and everything. Hard to believe this is where we're at.

AP: Houston has more than a dozen Superfund sites. Many are flooded.

EPA: Lies! Slander! Only 13 are flooded!

That's.... that's more than the AP article led me to believe

We need an ACLU equivalent for environmental issues

we probably don't because i can't remember the last time we had a president micromanage the EPA this much.

this Pruitt asshole has even made it so you can't even be on the floor he's on without an escort and has a super deep security detail with him. For the fucking EPA.

It's kinda sad when you go back and look at EPA directors. All except one of the Democrat ones actually had a background in environment. Almost all the Republican ones except for HW and Nixon intentionally tried to sabotage green economy efforts and were just arbitrary politicians given the position.

America is fucked.

Not really. But it's time we start realizing the government no longer works for the American people and that the current administration has no intention of doing so. Demonstrate how flawed the government is by killing it from the inside out; the GOP way.

We need to stop blaming the government. That's the easy way out.

The problem is the people.

This country is incredibly divided. Something needs to change.

I never would have said this 10 years ago but I am starting to feel that they are going to win and drag all of us down with them.

But what does more mean? We are going to need a lot of scientific opinions to quantify what "more" entails, and then you can't trust the data because science might be lobbied.

And you thought Walter Peck was the biggest asshole at the EPA. At least he was trying to stop dudes with toxic unlicensed nuclear accelerators.

They already won. They stole a Supreme Court seat and ran literally the worst fucking person on the planet for president and still managed to end up controlling every branch of the government. The best thing we can hope for now is that it doesn't take decades to fix the damage.

Thats exactly my point. The government (specifically the executive branch) is no longer a useful boogeyman. They have demonstrated time and again they are not concerned with the will of the people or the pursuit of facts. Instead of continuing to point at them and say "oh how horrible!" we need to find other ways to enact change.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

the EPA doing a heel turn on the environment is one of the weirdest things to come out of this nightmare.

Please donate to the Natural Resources Defense Council or other environmental organizations you like to keep the fight up against this reprehensible administration

I don't know how this country can move forward when a huge percentage of the population would rather listen to Rush and Hannity over science.

If we can't even agree over fucking science what can we agree on with them.

Does it really say that he has a history of letting facts get in the way of his story? Or am I misreading or misunderstanding.
