ESPN: Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze resigns; escort-service calls cited

Yeah, Prostitution is still mostly illegal, but using company resources to do so, is probably pretty fireable.

The way the AD of the university described, the only call that showed up in Coach Nutt's FOIA requested logs, was a 30 second call. So they took it upon themselves to look further into Freeze's logs (the ones that maybe Nutt didn't FOIA for) and "found a seriously troubling pattern" but didn't get into exactly what that means. Just enough that they told Freeze to resign or be fired with cause, cause they "No Buyout/No Settlement" him, a rare thing in today's Football coaching.

The question is, does he take the fall and say he was hiring the escorts for himself, or does the NCAA drop the hammer on Ole Miss? Everyone knew something was up at Ole Miss, but I don't know that anything will come of it.

Regardless, I join everyone else in the SEC with a sensiblechuckle.gif

But Ole Miss isn't Auburn...

I say that as a Pitt alum from the Big East days where we lived solely to hate Penn State even though we were in different conferences

Since 2015, Auburn has yet to beat Alabama. Ole Mi$$ has beaten them twice in that time (2015, 2016).

He was using university resources to do it. Plus he's in a completely different firestorm regarding cheating in recruiting. This I think it more of a straw that broke the camel's back type of situation.

Also, the former coach is suing the school because they are trying to pin all of the cheating on him. So as discovery continues, it's possible more stuff like this comes out.

I think the bigger problem is in the implication he was buying them for athletes.

Whats wrong with hiring escorts?

Yup, dont get it.

The recruiting process involves going into a family's living room and convincing the kid's parents that you'll be the perfect surrogate father to turn their little boy into a man while he's away from home and in the scary big city college.

You might disagree with the philosophical stigma attached to prostitution, and you might be right, but unless you happen to be the father of a 6'5" 215 pound high school senior that can run a 4.5 second 40 yard dash your opinion does not matter. At all.

Running in the Eagle later this afternoon.

what exactly is troubling

yeah, keeping assholes that punch women is totally fine.. but hiring prostitutes? Can't have that.

They're finally trying to end a practice that's been going on for decades in college sports LOL

Aren't they usually pimping out the cheerleaders and co-eds? At least the prostitutes get paid.

Reminds me of all the faux outrage when a cyclist gets caught using PEDs.. everyone does it, but you have to keep the illusion alive I guess.

God this quote is so damn wrong.

Last time Auburn beat Alabama was in 2013. Ole Miss beat Alabama in 2014 and 2015

Fuck was it 2014 2015? My years are blending together. I had 2014, 2015 then edited it to 15/16. And yeah, I know the kick six was the last time Auburn beat Alabama, I was using '14 as an arbitrary year

Only shocking thing about this is that it took this long. It was obvious something was going on there. I agree with Tuberville that the whole administration needs to go. No way they didn't know.

That program is done for a while. No way Kiffin or Miles takes that job. Train wreck on top of a tire fire.
