I don't see how Spain gets discredit for being the overall better team yet other countries like France and Portugal have tons of trouble against overall worse teams than Turkey.

Spain would be nice to watch if they had Diego Costa.
Croatia should have beat us 3-0.
They played amazing against us.
We've been a joke so its definitely allowed Croatia and Spain to play amazing.
Those first rounds don't mean much, no need to get into a "my favorite team is better than yours" on this.
In tournaments like this one, the team making the better impression on the first two matches is rarely the winner, the good ones peak for the quarters and onwards.
Spain does a pretty good impression tonight but they failed to do so on their first one, and we will truly know their level once they are faced against a top team.

CZE could still qualify by winning there.
I think, ans with reason, his complaint is that when Spain plays a team and dominates the other team is garbage.
Like i said before this same turkey team was playing Croatia and people were saying how amazing Croatia was..people here are just awfully biased football thread always was anyways.
I agree. I was a spain doubter before the tournament and still am but anyone discrediting this game today doesn't know football. That's just my opinion. Spain has been great but Turkey is super open, Portugal faced a super closed Iceland and France had the same problems. Portugal v Austria should be a much better game though, with Austria needing to win.

Turkey started opening after the first goal, before that the whole team was 2 lines of 4 + 5 in 15 meters.

The closest Turkish defender to goal is actually stepping on/over the line, where as #2 from Spain has already started running inside the box before pass is even made.

EDIT: Ok I admit it's hair line too close, (diffidently NOT "Offside: clear as day" after seeing this gif... but I still think it's offside.

well in qualification the matches were
tur 1:2 cze in Istanbul and cze 0:2 tur in Prague
so who knows... but Rosicky got injured again today so I guess Cze will go home anyway

True, but their defence was a bit disorganized, unlike the other teams. Also Portugal could've easily trashed Iceland had the finishing been better.

Isco didn´t complete a good season. Saul was in great shape, he should´ve come. Silva played a VERY good first game, don´t know about Cesc, he isn´t impressing me today either.
Why the hell isn't Iniesta ever mentioned in the greatest ever discussions?? Is it because he's not flashy? He's the main player behind both the Spaniard team and Barcelona juggernauts. Xavi obviously pulled strings there as well but Iniesta IMO has always been the main guy. I dislike tiki taka but watching that man pass the ball is porn.

Mostly because he lives in the era of Messi and CR7. If Iniesta added goals to his game on a more regular basis he'd get noticed more.

Agree, the guy´s pure magic. I can´t understand why he wasn´t in the ideal team but Cristiano was :S If he played in Real Madrid the spanish press would have made sure he got more attention.

It doesn't help to have played in Messi/Xavi's shadow for most of his prime, whether that's at Barca or with the national team. He's also been the key cog in the background without being the main guy that the squad relies on, so that takes away attention from him. But Iniesta is definitely one of the best and most brilliant footballers of all time and he'll get his due and appreciation.
interesting that this time they got knocked out by Iceland , Turks and Czechs :-D
and 2 of those from what i saw are the worst teams in the tournament so far

If I had my own professional football team, well first I'd make sure we were really good team... Won most matches.
Second, I would try to mind fuck my opponents at every turn I could.
Perfect example... When ever we get scored on, I would make my team celebrate along side of the opponent, go in a huddle with them hug them, high five them etc. just to fuck with their head, don't even give them the satisfaction of celebrating a goal without pissing them off, interrupting them.
What say you? Great strategy for the world's best football team?

As a Madridista I think it's bordering on the criminal that Xavi and Iniesta never got the Ballon D'Or. Messi and Ronaldo are great, great players but in my mind, Xavi and Iniesta were the heart and soul of those dominant Barca/Spain teams that won everything.
Pretty sure that'd be the best way to get your team covered in yellows for bad sportsmanship...
