EuroCosplay bans League of Legends Cosplayer for alleged "blackface"

I don't know if I am crazy, but wouldn't a racist be the only person who actually cares what the race of the person behind the cosplay is?

A normal person wouldn't need to know the race of the person inside the costume.

The world is going nuts, I guess.

It's not blackface.

It's a BODYSUIT.

On top of that, does Europe even care about blackface since it's an American thing?

Yup.

The most racist people are always the ones pointing out and claiming racism.

Non-racist: Hey everyone, check out that hilarious new comedy show in TV

Racist: Hey everyone, that new comedy shows has 5 white people, 2 latinos, 1 black, and zero asian. The producer and director are also white, and the person in the credit doing make up sounds like a white last name.

anecdotal, it was not really a thing (at least in UK) until recent years when people start "cancelling" others because of it.

Ha the other board is giving week bans to anyone who defends it in anyway. There have been like 10 people banned on the first page alone.

Is there any way to tell which mod bans people on resetera? It would be interesting to see the stats on who is banning what. IMO it should be public knowledge to allow for checks and balances.

anyone want to explain to me why this one cosplayer should be shunned but we should still be fine with Robert Downey Jr. having a career? like this is way more offensive and yet the SJWs love their Marvel actor:

I think this was a good example of NOT blackface. There was a reason his character chose to darken his skin and look like a black man.

And it had nothing to do with Marvel ... He was just "a dude playing a dude playing another dude!"

Not that I'm aware of but I think that would be a good idea because some of the mods over there are definitely ban happy, when maybe a simple warning would be much more helpful in a discussion, instead of just shutting the discussion down for certain people, if they have a different opinion.

I noticed on the last few pages I looked at, some people were actually questioning the bans (surprised they didn't get banned too) which says it all really.

She clearly hates black people and is doing this only to mock them and continue keeping them down.

Seriously though, imagine if she went that far with the costume but used a white skin suit instead. It would look so ridiculous and people may not even know who she is trying to dress up as.

I stopped visiting ResetEra because of this. They are always taking the suffer from another people and hating on each other, and you can't even question anything cause you can get banned

Doesn't that reenforce that black people are alien thugs? ... This

Don't know about alien thugs, but that cosplay isn't blackface, at all. There are people here who're more progressive and don't think it is, either. Black face is usually all black face with white, pink or red outline on the lips, signifying the lips of a black person.

That cosplay was made to look as exactly like Pike as that person could make it. My question: are there people trying to push an agenda and extend how Black Face is defined? If so, then I say keep it simple and call it for what it is, not for what it isn't. There are already enough words that are being bastardized in the English language as it is.

I bought that indian clay on Amazon and that's how it looks when I make that face mask. Is that blackface now for these people? Spa treatments are racists!

I actually wasn't trying to post that picture after I realized it was a face mask... The "black lives matter" tag was in poor taste, tho

I remember to old days of GAF when I dared to say I thought the term racist was over used...I was banned for saying that.

Glad GAF gave it's head a shake.

This isn't black face. It's just cosplay. Big difference. There is no intention or any hidden agenda to cause any sort of harm towards a race. People need to learn the difference before freaking out.
