Even after nearly 30 years, Alien Trilogy (PS1) is still a go to game for me

I'll never forget the tag line on the box. I got this game for Christmas in 1996, along with Tekken, Criticom and Mortal Kombat 3 as well as some random demo and the Demo One that came with the console. Playing this game scared me so much that I had nightmares for months. It got so bad that I couldn't even look at the box art without feeling dread in my chest.

I don't know what it is about things that scare you and how we come back to them, but today Alien Trilogy is still one of the best FPS/PS1 games I keep coming back too. I can't tell you why. Part of it may be nostalgia but for a licence game, it's actually pretty good. It's got a kick ass sound track that sounds very Alien, even if it is a more techno/electronic sound. I can't believe the sequel never got off the ground.

Recently I had a brainwave that some of the locations in the film have been recreated in the game which was a bit of a wow moment. Like how did I not see that before? The prison section for Alien 3 for example has the mess hall, Andrews office, the tunnels where they trap the alien, the scrap room where they put the EEV etc.

It looks beautiful in 4K on the Duckstation emulator. But I sincerely hope that NightDive or another company can do a good 'ol remake of this one. GAF, share your memories of this game.

Where is nightdive on this gem?

I feel like they could do this in a weekend

My memories on this is that I know I played it at some point, and that is all. But NOW I wanna play it properly.

i love that game :)
my god that soundtrack bring back good memories, it's just combined perfectly with the gameplay

I like ALIEN: Resurrection a bit better -- but yeah, Trilogy is actually a pretty good game. I have the longbox version of it.

The soundtrack is particularly great, especially this one. Absolutely love the ambience.

This one was always my favourite. Especially the level with the sleep chambers and the dim blue lights with the synthetic scientists. Always made me think they were experimenting and testing on the perfect impantation and birth of a xenomorph. Horrific stuff really. It does sound very medical and that heart monitor adds to the ambience.
