Two that I can think of:

1.) The Road : the whole movie is a giant black cloud of oppressive sadness and it caught up with me at the end.
2.) The Impossible - there is a scene near the end that had me ugly crying. And I dont ugly cry much... I have 2 young boys, so it hit me extra hard.

Ok its a Bollywood movie, its obviously not going to be for everyone, its 3 hrs long, there's dancing and singing out of nowhere (I normally skip these, there are some good songs though). But I watch this movie at least once every year, and I cry every single time. And its not even that manly type of cry, I always find myself bawling.

I cried during this scene as a kid. To this day it still gets me emotional seeing the Big-G slowing die while burning to death after seeing his son die. Fuck man, this always hits me in the feels.

Pixar movies are good at making me cry.

The begin of Up caught me out, mainly because in a weird way I saw myself, not being able to have kids, and eventually losing your life partner, only to be alone after my at the world, it was just a bit close to home.

LOTR: TROTK

“I can’t carry it for you… But, I can carry you.”

And here I am, bawling like a baby.
That is like the pinnacle of all of Tolkien lore for me, and I’ve read all the books. Sam is the main character in the whole Tolkien universe, imo. Everything epic that happened in the lore lead up to that point where it was up one weak, tiny, half-ling nobody to dig deep and muster sheer will power. No big swords or magic rings to help him, just good old determination and his whole heart. It’s touching and inspiring and probably one of my favorite movie scenes ever. Good pick!

Even though you could see it coming from outer space those emotionally manipulative bastards got me good at the end of Coco.

The start of Up too of course.

And strangely when Wikus has a change of heart in District 9 and tells Christopher Johnson to take his boy and go after being a dick the entire movie. Good music and good acting from someone that hadn't even been in a movie before.

Sure. Got moist eyes in the theater watching Titanic, and had legit tears while drunk off free booze on a trans-Pacific flight, while watching The Theory of Everything...on someone else's screen. LOL! I don't even think it was the booze, I think it's just really sad watching Stephen Hawking's body break down on him. I didn't need to hear the audio. It was just crushing to watch someone I admire losing their physical faculties due to something out of their control.

Gladiator always gets to me..
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
:messenger_crying:
Any movie that has some kind solemn moment or grand speech from a historical figure, I get really the feels. Gladiator is definitely one of them for me. I even used to be able to recite the Braveheart speech by heart. 😂

But arguably one of the worst movies that has one of the best emotional speeches that glistens my eyes is from Alexander. The man conquered the known world, and yet his desire for success was still unfulfilled.

Plenty of movies I've got choked up about over the past couple of decades. I've never full on teared up with the tears rolling down my cheeks, but pretty much anything with animal abuse will really fuck me up and it stays with me for good after I watched a movie with something like that in it.

Here is an example,

Baxter

I have a English Bull Terrier and this movie hits very hard at the end... I own it and I've only been able to watch it once.

Great shout on The Impossible, that film wrecked me. I think it was the scene when Ewan McGregor's character finally gets access to a phone. It was so raw and emotional and I just couldn't stop crying after that.

I'm definitely in the camp of crying more at films as I get older and Gladiator is every time for me, basically the entire end scene after he
kills Commodus

this is the ending scene for Creed 2, so spoilers if you havent scene it.

im a big rocky dork and this movie and the themes in it make for a perfect wrap of the franchise. i say end it right here. if they decided to make more, the opening scene would have to be rockys funeral, because the ending with him at his sons front door and his grandson their who looks insanely like talia shire (adrian), and the emotion and all, is just too perfect. they have to end his story there...

but i could also see them making one more Creed movie and having an emotional send off to rocky. either that, or another 20 years from now, when stallone is closer to the same age as Mickey was in the first three movies, he finds a new young fighter and trains him. possibly the grandson...? eh i dunno, sounds too cheesy even for rocky. i mean, its a miracle the franchise has lasted as long as it has and is still putting out good movies.

anyway, this ending is just too perfect and made me cry a little bit on a plane flight lol

I remember watching a HBO documentary in the late 90's about China's dog market and till this day I can't unsee those images.

Those DoDo videos, I've watched. I know they always wrap up with a happy ending usually but the start of them are always rough.

I cry at a lot of shit. I just have to be in the right mood. I never understood it when I was younger. Even when my peers mentioned crying from a movie, I would be puzzled. It's not that I was emotionally devoid though. As I got older, it just started happening. I mean, it doesn't even have to be sad. Sometimes when I watch live concert footage, if it's really great, and the crowd erupts in massive applause, I may get a little teary-eyed. It's a bit weird how common it's becoming for me. Maybe I'm depressed, Idk.

Yeh not for me, there's a few of those burnt into my memory, that genuinely makes me feel ill and tear up thinking about it

1 was frying live dogs in a giant wok

The other was some cunt beating the dogs, the sound they made still haunts me, and the way the dog was looking up at the cunt helpless and confused, thats worse than the wok one for me

So I refuse to watch anything like, anything to do with animals tbh, I can watch anything to people, doesnt bother me, but animals, and especially dogs, I never wanna watch that shit

Theres very times in my life where I feel I would/could kill someone out of rage and contempt, this is one of them, and I wouldn't feel bad at all. I mean that too, I dont consider myself hard or violent at all, the opposite to that.

Awful awful awful, making upset now just picturing it, and I cant ever get rid of that.

Anyway enough of this subject

Grave of the Fireflies messed me up good. 10/10 must watch.

Titanic is another one that hit me right in the feels when I was a kid.
Grave of the Fireflies is one movie I will never ever watch again.

I tear up pretty easily so that hunger games scene in the first movie. Had the girl (stranger) right next to me looking at me weird in the theaters when I was wiping the tears from my eyes. I knew it was coming since I had read the books a long time ago but it still got me.

The ending to the Basilisk anime series. I just feel complicated about that ending.

I've forgotten the other times.

edit: someone mentioned up and yeah that first 15 minutes had me in tears.

Absolutely yes, but I couldn't possibly name them all. :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
Same here. I suffer from extreme empathy. Not joking, empathizing with people in any number of situations is exceedingly simple for me, as if I can become them in my mind or something, and the pain just becomes too real.

There are certain movies I refuse to watch twice, despite loving them, due to this. Grave of the Fireflies is a no go at this station for this reason, flick left me empty and drained. There are others.....

I like to laugh man lol. Don't like hurting, and seeing others hurt makes me hurt. Badly.

Ohh trust me, I am right there with you my friend. Having an overactive sense of empathy can certainly be a double-edged sword, but I think of it overall as a gift. 😌

Just please remember: Don't be afraid to take yourself out of social situations when you need to recharge, don't let others take advantage of your kindness, and avoid people with narcissistic personality disorder when at all possible. We are like a battery for those people, and they will drain us dry if we let them.

I’ve cried a lot during movies. During anime too. One thing that comes to mind immediately in a movie is Paul Walker’s (Brian O’Conner’s) last scene in Furious 7. That was heart wrenching. The Fast and the Furious has and will never be the same for me after his passing.

  • Up
  • Big Fish
  • A Monster Calls
  • Interstellar
  • My Girl

There are more but those came to mind immediately and were probably the worst ones.

Grave of the Fireflies. Definite tear jerker.

Watching the final Lord of the Rings film. It was an emotional roller coaster to what felt like a truly touchstone series of films.

Drive. I know this may sound weird but in the end when absolutely no one got what they deserved, especially the main characters, was rough. The fact that the cinematography and score was so good just added to it.

I just can't attach myself to drive, its one of those films I know I should like, but find it ultimately pretentious and dull for some reason

I'll give it another go

Oh it's definitely as much flash as it is function, thanks to the director. It took me a rewatch to really appreciate it myself.
