Evil Within System & Hard Disk Requirements (PC/Consoles), strongly suggests 4GB VRAM

Welp, just ordered two GTX 980s. Despite this game not supporting SLI, the 4GB VRAM requirement is telling for newer games.

This game looks on par with mid-cycle PS360 games, why would it need that much of VRAM?

Sorry but asking a sane man to to put his luxurious 4GB VRAM in use on shitty looking games is as hostile as killing his dearly beloved pet.

I hope this game fails commercially.

Holy shit, this guy. lol.

really upset. Already spent money on the pc version and now i feel ripped off. You would think a 4770 16gb ram and gtx 770 2gb ocd would run this fine but that comment about the vram is absurd. They will be crucified if this runs badly on lower settings on 2gb cards. In fact the whole silence on pc reqs is shady as fuck and thus might be a real shit port. this better be some nvidia 9xx marketing deal.

I never put any stock into recommended system specs.

Yeah, I don't even pay attention to them anymore. The funniest are the ones that list recommendations for specific ATI/nvidia cards, but choose two cards of completely different performance tiers or even generations. Sometimes with one several times more powerful than the other (Dark Souls 2)

I'll probably wait until I build a new pc to get this.

I'm fine when it comes to RAM but my i5 750 and 3GB 7970 ghz might not do so well.

Woah such high PC requirements to run the game, with 4GB of VRAM still being expensive on PC, we are talking $300+ it makes more sense to get the console version which is much cheaper to own and run and has 8gb GDDR5 over the 4gb vram. The game must be a mess on the PC.

As trop said, the new drivers specifically mention this game.

Not mentioning the min requirements to run the game gives me the impression that this could be a real shitty port. Hope I am wrong, since I really want to check this out on PC

Just want to say fuck megatextures, fuck IDtech5 and fuck my 2 GB Vram graphics card. If this becomes the norm i need a 500 dollar graphics card to keep up.

The 970 is like 330 and has 4GB VRAM.

I'll probably get one this year. :P

It's cheap enough for me to not even care if in a year or two games start asking for more, I'll gladly upgrade again if they keep releasing cards with fantastic value like the 970.

"Recommended" requirements will only go up, as they should.
You card is sufficient for the game but not maximum settings.

Why do all the "next-gen" games seemingly have huge cpu requirements on pcs? Seems weird as fuck when the consoles that they also run on, have garbage cpus afaik

These aren't minimum specs. Why are people acting like these are the minimum specs?

Because of this:

Note: We do not have a list of minimum requirements for the game. If you’re trying to play with a rig with settings below these requirements (you should plan to have 4 GBs of VRAM regardless), we cannot guarantee optimal performance.

Cause they gave none and just said this:

Makes it sound like 4 gigs of vram will be a minimum.

May as well not even bother with October's Steam thread. Shut it down.

FIFTY GIGABYTES??? ARE YOU FUCCIN NUTS?

i7? 670 w/ 4 gigs? the shit? lol

I guess I'll be playing the slideshow version then, after I delete a bunch of games to free up hard drive space lol

ridiculous!

Game is coming out on past gens, so it will be running on toasters on low.

The "4GB ??!!??!! WHAAAT??!!??" people need to calm down.
This is idtech 5 game. Just like Wolf. Just like Rage.
Did both those game run perfectly fine on 3GB 280X I own ? Yes, they did.
Will Evil Within, with its corridors and shitty aspect ratio ? Yes, it will.

Yeah, pretty much this.

Just calm down people and wait for the game to be released. Go play something else in the meantime.

I have a radeon 280x and 3570k processor and while it might run okay, if the PS4 can run it smoothly I'd rather take that guarantee.

seriously I feel like Bethesda is intentionally inflating its recommended specs just to fuck up with neogaf

Just picked up the 970 so I'm fine on the VRAM, but I'm still rocking an i5. Damn.

exact same song and dance on wolf, and yet wolf ran perfectly on my 4 years old 2500k

....

See you in hell Steam thread!

Am I seriously the only person out there who is not panicking about having to play the game on medium-high (instead of super-duper high) settings because of 2GB VRAM on my 670?

Such an outrage, jesus freaking christ.

I cant tell if people are sarcastic anymore with those decent spec PC and getting PS4 based on stupid PR setup list.
