Yeah, in general I think someone said attendance overall is down something like 50% this year. SFV took the biggest hit in attendance iirc. A combination of EVO ticket prices increasing a huge amount, and that last year was a crazy outlier in attendance.

Attendance isn't down nearly that much, but it is down. Entrants dropped off quite a bit for most games. Crowd is starting to fill in finally, but there are definitely fewer people and we're spread out more. That said it's still pretty packed in most spots.

The lower turnout and higher price point seems to have damaged it. The prize pool for Smash 4 is less than even EVO 2015 which had more entrants than this year, which is ironic because this year had the most amount of viewers for it. I don't think it excuses Nintendo not putting in some extra cash though.
