A team of developers and industry veterans with credits ranging from Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studio to Respawn Entertainment has come together to form Wildlight Entertainment, a "fully-funded" remote-first studio that has been "working on a new IP for quite some time."

Founded in 2021 according to the studio's LinkedIn page, Wildlight Entertainment is composed of video game developers and industry veterans united by their work on Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends.

The studio describes itself as "remote-first, hybrid friendly" and currently has offices in Los Angeles and Seattle.

No details have been revealed about the project or its scale, but the studio's self-described "deep passion for making AAA games" makes it likely that the project will be a premium AAA console title.

It sounds like they got some talent. I'm interested to see what these new studios like this one and Ballistic Moon can do

Maverick Games the leads from Playground Games are another studio to keep an eye out on

I wonder if this is another Sony funded new starter. Would take some big money to have offices in those locations and make a AAA.

Whatever happened to that one studio that had a bunch of high tier devs, that were supposedly making a AAAA game?

I think they were called The Illusive or something.

The Initiative?
They initially got a lot of articles about getting a lot of Sony staff (ND, Santa Monica etc) then they got put onto Perfect Dark, then Crystal Dynamics took over, and then most split.

If you have big expertise and experience just create a new studio, find foundings if you need it, make a game, sell the studio, profit.

Bruh, they about to make the most hype historical mythical fiction 3rd person, FPS shooter of ALL TIME!

What happened to That's No Moon studio? It was also comprised of AAA talent from naughty Dog, Santa Monica and others.

I'm cool with that as long its single player experiences.
But also wouldn't brag until I can aee what I'm dealing with.

Somebody's pumping several hundred million into this to poach a bunch of senior staff with offices in LA and Seattle. Really really serious money, almost definitely the most expensive start up in industry history. Who is the Sugar Daddy I wonder. One of the Chinese titans? Saudi wealth fund?

If it was, the announcement of this studio would have been within a Sony/PlayStation blog post. This will be a multiplatform studio.

Not necessarily. Ballistic Moon are making a game with SIE and there was never a blog post or announcement.

And lol at people saying they're bragging. They're a newer studio who would want to announce their existence to attract more talent. Giving a bit of info on the talent that's already there, that they offer remote working and that they're funded are very basic pieces of information, not bragging.

This is the nature of the industry and a healthy one. New studios pop up lead by industry vets.

Looking forward to seeing their new game.

It has SSM members, so it's possible it is a new studio from their studio incubation project. They usually have to release one or two Playstation exclusives after leaving SSM, but after that they are free to do whatever they want.

This May Microsoft had a shitty start, then Sony had a shitty end, and Nintendo had an amazing middle, What a sandwich.

Sounds as a potential 2nd party Sony studio that may end acquired.

No. Firewalk was founded in 2018 and started to secretly work with Sony, but their partnership wasn't announced until 2021.

SSM ended their incubation project they they got rid of What Remains of Edith Finch. Some of that SSM team left to create Annapurna and other part left to make an American 2nd party publishing team in a separate office, as before did XDEV in Europe branching off from Liverpool Studio and later did the 2nd party publishing team of Japan Studio.

The fully funded part is interesting. It's clearly a live service game.

It's also interesting that the vast majority of the team left respawn.

Why would you bump an almost 4 month old thread with a post that is completely off-topic? Are you okay?

How about just wait for the game announcement before declaring this a new Sony studio. Most likely left to be independent with a focus on multi-platform to bring in the most money.
