8-12 maps? C'mon people, what's with these low expectations?
You mean realistic?

Give me 8 good ones, more than 15 mediocre ones.
I've liked what I've seen out of the 3 that they've shown, so far. If we can get ~10 like that, I'll be happy.
Call of Duty: Ghosts launched with 14 maps and like 12 of them completely fucking sucked ass.

Prepare for disappointment.Usually a AAA FPS has like 8-10 maps...
We're paying 60$ for multiplayer only, I expect at least like 16 tbh.

Actually it really is quality not quantity. of course 5 or 6 would be really low, but 8 to 12 wouldn't be bad for this sort of game. Halo's really good maps were almost infinitely replayable and never really got boring. Having 20 mediocre maps for the sake of variety would actually kill the replay value quicker due to them not having enough thought put into them.
just my opinion I guess. I would rather have 8-10 amazing replayable maps than a ton just for the sake of variety in visual appeal. The setting or visual of the map isn't really what makes it play so well.
I think Titanfall will live or die based on playing styles and how people choose to play the game en masse. From the alpha footage I've seen people are playing this like CoD, sprinting randomly across the map, flanking campers or shooting people from behind, little to no teamwork when it comes to choke points on the map. And with these elements who do you blame? The players or the designers who developed the core mechanics? CoD can be played tactically if the player base found that to be more efficient or fun, but the core gameplay of CoD easily supports the lone wolf style of shooting anything on sight.
The best evolution from CoD are the titans themselves, instead of tons of killstreaks that can wipe out players in really random ways there's one main "killstreak" all players get. Titans are huge targets, so getting killed by one won't feel like some sort of random blight. One worrying thing about Titanfall is human vs human combat, doesn't look that satisfying when compared to Titan vs. Titan combat.
The most worrying thing about Titanfall is how sustainable the player base will be. After playing for a couple or few months will people be ready to move onto the next big multiplayer release?
Not worried at all about the maps. Respawn's portfolio:
Crash, Vacant, Overgrown, Crossfire, Ambush, Pipeline, Afghan, Favela, Highrise, Scrapyard, Terminal.
All solid maps, IMO. There were a few duds here and there but for the most part they have been amazing with their quality maps.
I'm really enjoying Angel City and Fracture so far, too.
Believe.
I really like Angel City. It's probably my favorite of the Alpha.
Fracture has some epic shootouts with the large empty spaces though. I've really enjoyed the flow of each map so far.
I've watched enough leaked footage now to know that I need this game in my life.
I prefer Angel City purely based on the wall running. So satisfying![]()
I honestly can't believe it's still just the two from yesterday that are floating around. I expected a bit more, at least maybe like a video for each map. Both are just from the same one.

i've definitely seen two full matches on different maps

UT3 shipped with 50+ maps. A MP only game has no excuse for such a low map count.
50+ bland metallic arenas! Yay!
I need to play this game.
51 days.
Man, a particular weapon is just so good. Very reminiscent of MW and MW2 it's scary.
That girl on the invite is such a ripoff of Vasquez from ALIENS

why is everyone always ripping off Cameron?
All the positive impressions are hard to ignore, but I really just can't justify spending $60 on a multiplayer only game. I know that sentiment isn't well received here, but it's the truth for me.
Typically when I purchase shooters, I always go through the story first and take my time with it, and only dabble with the multiplayer afterwards on an on/off basis unless the multiplayer is incredibly addictive to me (Gears of War, Halo). Otherwise I probably play a total of 50 matches during my entire time of owning the game, instead replaying the campaign here and there whenever I get the urge to. So for me, MP only isn't a valuable investment as I'm afraid the initial fun and excitement will wear off quickly after...*sigh*.
I feel the same brother. But if it at least has offline / local MP with 4 player split-screen then I would be really happy. I have real friends to play in the same room so that would worth be $60.
I thought you can't talk about the Alpha?
give me 8 great ones and 8+ less than great ones for variety then.
dam they aint messing around.lol someone was streaming on twitch. his twitch account got shut down.
I don't even have an Xbox One (yet) but I saw a youtube video with the double jump and the wall running and dammit I like it. All they need is a slide something like Vanquish and an active reload like Gears and it'd be awesome.

Does ejecting also self-destruct your Titan? Or can you eject and still get back in?
Also, can you get crushed by friendly Titans?
