Fable: The First Preview

Feeling like Avowed part II. Hopefully not. But the DEI push is annoying.

And fuck IGN for calling this a preview.
This will make Avowed look like the lost NWN2 DLC. Playground and Microsoft have laid down the gay gauntlet and they are going for the nothing short of the crown. I don't even think the tools we have now for quantifying slop are going to be any use. It's entirely new age when this comes out.

Dragon Age Veilgard part II. That was pretty rough.

We finally got a fresh look at Fable, and it's clear Playground Games is aiming to bring the series back to its fairy-tale roots. In this breakout, we break down everything shown so far, from player customization and flexible playstyles to the tone, humor, and world design that make this feel unmistakably Fable again.

have you played the fable games before?

Well almost everyone was ugly in early 2000s games

The new Fable coming in Autumn 2026 is confirmed to have no dog. For many RPG fans that might seem like a dealbreaker. But are Playground Games right to leave Peter Molyneux's dog in the past? And what does it say about their approach to bringing back this beloved Xbox RPG? Now also confirmed to be on PS5, naturally.

Fable 2's dog is probably the most beloved canine companion in video games. Even Fallout's Dogmeat doesn't inspire as much loyalty as the Fable 2 dog, who can infamously die at the end of the game and only be resurrected via paid DLC. No dog in Fable? No problem: the minimap is back. Dog AI is hard, ok?

Good. I think I said this earlier, but I don't want a dog if the dog just ends up getting killed off. That feels like emotional manipulation to me. If you can give me a dog who has a decent level of interactivity and doesn't get killed off for the emotional reaction, I'm in. And make the dog important to the story somehow, not just a tag-along; give him a few companion quests or involve him in the quests somehow. Then I'll be on board. Most game dogs are just props, though.
