Facebook is apparently getting DDOSed

How many people around the world today realized that they're addicted to Instagram or Facebook?
If GAF just dissapeared I would be very sad to be honest.

this is another reminder of DRM issues and the always online present/future we are living in, moving towards. People talk about companies just dropping your access to products on purpose or accidentally and it can happen pretty easily. I have a mix of physical and digital but do prefer digital if the price is comparatively good to physical and if I’m not interested in a collectors edition.

Even if they will care about upholding the service, there can always just be fire or terrorist attack or anything

Yep, it's bad. Even my missus rung me last night as I wasnt home and she said 'I just wondered if you could get on anything, it all seems to be down'. I knew she was suffering..

I said C'mon, we're from the 80's, i'm sure you can handle going without looking at pics of your mates kids or some food pics for a day..

..It was at this point I realised I'd married someone with zero hobbies who couldnt function without this crap :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not much would be lost if all those were gone for good. People fighting, only the site changes.

Agreed. The only decent social media site, back in the day, was MySpace. The simplicity of the entire thing was a wonder to behold. Take us back to the MySpace days and I’ll be a happy bugger.

I mean, I just cry at the moon: "Why does anyone need to be told that the content they're exposed to on that site adapts to their searches and so leads them down rabbit holes into extreme viewpoints?"

No wonder they become like dead sure that conspiracy theories run the world, they're dumb enough to eat up anything a mindless website algorithm that's designed to maintain their attention for as long as possible spits into their lap.

They present themselves as really high-integrity denizens of truth, when anybody who actually perceives the truth will tell you that the world isn't a place of absolutes, and any angry douchbag saying one thing over and over again is by definition not relaying reality.

so yeah, DDOS the f*ck outta facebook, nuke the place, break it up, because like some people out there can't be trusted to know the uranium-laced doodoo they're handling.

Almost getting in to billionaire Mark Davis territory:

My wife actually called for me last night from the other room and said "I think the internet is down, can you check".

It's actually crazy. My wife also has no hobbies. Known her for a decade and have always told her she needs to find something. Safe to say that's not changing.

Couldn’t it have gone a little bit longer? I would have done anything to see the reaction of the crowd here on the opposite side of the world.

I didn't miss it at all to the point I was not aware it was down until I saw the news.
Never even use Instagram, and Facebook is merely use to see some second hand sellers with throwaway account.

I felt sad when I heard Facebook managed to get itself up and running.

I deleted my Facebook and insta accounts ages ago, I just wished the world followed suit so the downage wasn't even noticed in my household apart from my builder questioning me sending a WhatsApp to him at 5am, had to explain I sent that tea time the previous day
