Should I use my real name or my rap alias, Flossasaurus Rex? I'm willing to be my real name is still available a couple of years from now.

?

Google says "Resmi" is indeed a first name that exists. Then again, it could just be someone named "Mitch Res".

Or "Iggy Resm".
I meant on Facebook, and yeah, it does exist as a first name. I'd know. ;)

I got 'firstname.lastname' for my URL.

Me too. I'm wondering if simply firstnamelastname (without the dot) was available, but I didn't search for it (since it didn't show up in the suggested names, I'm assuming it was taken).

I did "(first name)ofwonderandmagic".

Let's see how quick it takes for me to massively regret doing tha-- oh shit.
You realize that some random chick looking at your profile will see that? Say goodbye to any chances (however slim they may have been) you had at hooking up!

I got my "firstname.lastname" -- turns out that Facebook doesn't exactly recognize the period like gmail because firstnamelastname also works.

Had to use my full first name, instead the shorter version I go by.
Meh, better than nothing.

So do the big names all get notified a week in advance or something?

Facebook: reserve your shit before people take it!

FirstMiddleLast name for me. First and last was taken and I didn't want numbers. Almost took "cowsgomoo" but thought better... professionalism ruins me!

Seems that way. Britney Spears' Facebook page had /britneyspears in the URL as early as a few days ago.

did "firstname.lastname". Like someone else said, trying to keep it a bit professional. Job hunting now & all

It's amazing how often people forget this part of the equation.

I look at some of the pictures that my friends have on their profiles and just laugh. These are people that are connected to the group of the IS department of our college for the purposes of getting a job. Most of the high-tiered faculty are friends through Facebook. Some people just don't connect the dots.

So, why can't we change it later? Bullshit.
Don't know, but you can't do it on myspace either. Once it's set, it's set. Only way around it is to delete the profile. I got my first name and last name in there, so I don't give a shit anymore. :D

Got [firstname.lastname], but I wonder if I should've gone with just my first name.
Unless you have a very uncommon first name it was probably taken immediately.

DAMN YOU, BOBBY KELLOGG!!!!

Yeah, that's why I was confused. I see what you meant now.

Oh fuck... you mean girls don't like wonder and magic? :(

Verboten will you add me on facebook?
Don't need all of GAF having my personal info. >;D

Also, couldn't get my full fucking name despite being the thread starter and present after the fucking countdown. Had to use one of my initials.

I just took FirstnameLastname. I wasn't going to do it, but then I thought about someone potentially taking my name, so I did a pre-emptive strike. If only Mr. Fernandez up there did the same.

On second thought, damn, I should have taken EdwardCullen.

Oh you mother, FB, how is it fair that this crap kicked in at 5am on a Saturday morning in the UK, no wonder I didn't get my real name.

Not that I particularly care, I mean, everyone who I actually want to get in touch knows my name anyway. And putting your facebook address on any sort of formal communication is just weird.

yeah, the few people who share my name are all british, so it's lame.

I registered with First.M.Last for aesthetic purposes. I was gonna say it was nice not having to say 'first name dot..' when giving it to somebody else, but I just realised it works both ways. FirstM.Last works as well as FirstMLast or First.M.Last, which is a bit unfortunate for me since my middle initial's A (and so turns my first name into a girl's name). -_-
