If Erdogan is at that airport then he's the stupidest motherfucker alive. He landed in an active warzone with a target painted on his back.

There's nothing to like about erdogan, but as far as I know he was elected in a legit democratic process, so I don't know if I can support this and I don't see this ending well
insane times

"playing" dumb? unpossible
Jets are flying low over Taksim, police is shooting at them

So how these jets flying uncontested when Government officials and High Ranking stooge officers keep saying that it's just an itsy tiny splinter group within the army?

Could have been a feint to lul Ero into a false sense of security and then return home where they planned to either capture or kill him with little chance of him being able to escape. Smart planning by someone if that's the case.

Interesting. This thing seems very well thought out.

The CNN stream isn't pleasant to listen to, all the background noises man :/

It's unfortunate that there are supporters of Erdogan, but it's even more unfortunate that people are getting hurt. It's obscene that the mosques and Erdogan are encouraging Erdogan's base to go out and antagonize the military, after Erdogan has been the king of suppressing dissent. Absolute hypocrite.

But what's going on?

Whatever happens, stay safe TurkeyGAF, I mean that.

Really surprising that Erdogan felt safe enough to land there. It's one thing to put out propaganda about being in total control, but you're not supposed to believe it yourself
Hope the coup forces manage to get to him. The coup would be over right there if he gets captured/killed/both.

None of this makes sense.

Why would Erdogan land in a hostile area, even with escorts?

If the coup does have some type of air force under control, why are they bombing parliament and government buildings?

Him landing I think shows that this may be a planned measure on his part to ensure he retains power.

Legit have to wonder if the high level military folks condemning the coup was a bluff. There are so many potential twists.

my impression is that someone else took the reins of the whole thing after the first "part" failed...the same military that it's hitting civilians with heavy artillery and bombing buildings don't seem to be the same military that basially surrender and stopped the whole coup because the people got involved...sounds like someone will less scruples decided that now it's do or die.
but it can also be that my timeline is screwed up..lot's of conflicting reports

I was joking about this, but I mean what is the chance it's real?

Let us also not forget that it was Erdoğan who pushed innocent people to the streets.

I'm pretty sure the sounds you hear on CNN turk are broadcasts from Istanbul, not the studio itself.

Given how a planned military coup is usually kept secret, tactics like this should be possible with the individuals involved. It's entirely possible whoever is leading the coup faction has a series of contingencies. They wouldn't have been able to get this far without having to cover their bases.
