from the other end of the day: I spend most of my day on a job selection thing that I kind of felt was going to pass me by anyway. That was a fun, productive use of my fucking day. How is yours? Ugh, whatever.
Currently watching Cell to walk it off, but this movie is baaaad. Kind of due to wasting time at the start though. But so much feels like there ought to be a droplet of info here, a scene there, and it's kind of... random feeling as a result? I'm sure the eventual resolution won't be pretty either, but at least Stacy Keach has arrived to save the motherfucking day. No Tituses were harmed in writing this post.

We take it in turns to be a sort of executive officer for the week but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but by a two thirds majority in the case of external affairs.

That's democracy. Just because you don't agree with the outcome isn't the point, it was a very democratic vote. I don't like the outcome either but it was a free and fair vote.
There are less people who vote than the population so it would probably be more like 35%

I should have put voting population. There's no accounting for those too young, and for the rest who are UK citizens and upset but didn't vote, there's no accounting for stupidity. Of course it was going to be a close vote.

The EU has done a world of good, but let's not pretend it's not bureaucratic.

my problem is two-fold
1) I can't drink and you would be surprised how many social activities revolve around drinking
2) I only have a tiny bit of time friday and saturday to do anything which makes it almost not worth the effort
so I've kind of just resigned to the loner life until after I graduate or get a new kidney

Politicians make promises they can't keep all the time, it's not unique to this vote, or sundae if you will. Besides, the UK has always had a fiercely independent streak, it wasn't a huge surprise when this happened.
