So, as I told ya, I went to the last day of Rock in Vienna festival. It was held on Donauinsel, which is, as name suggests, an island between main Danube channel and artificial one. Bands for the day : Powerwolf, Gojira, Kreator, Nightwish, In Extremo and Iron Maiden...
More than enough food and drink stalls, I was drinking white spritzers for a whole day... Beer was disgusting, same goes for the WCs.
Ended up in a small group from the bus, we had a blast. It would be fantastic without weather intervention. There was chance of storms, but only 40%... but as we arrived to Vienna, it went up to 75% for 7 pm...
It went from this:
To the first downpour around 6 pm just when Kreator blasted
Civilization Collapse on stage.
to this at 7 pm (this is the cloud, that brought second downpour)
I took this pic in the middle of the second downpour, around 8 pm (it is blurry, because I couldn't even focus the camera in the rain)
Rain, heavy wind and lightning had a nice party,. Almost no cover, so we stood there, being lashed by rain and wind... Stage and big screens got damaged, Nightwish had to shorten their set as the result of the first storm and In Extremo just went off stage after five songs, when second storm arrived. I had my anorak with me, so I could stay dry, but several from our group shivered there, soaking wet. There was even a chance that they will cancel Iron Maiden performance, but luckily for us, storm passed.
Iron Maiden are in the top form on this tour, so go see them if you can, phenomenal performance
It was not over yet... somebody crashed in our bus, so we had to wait for the police to check it out and one of the group got lost and wandered to the other side of the Danube. We lost almost two hours due to that...
And obligatory 'being awake for 25 hours straight / tired as fuck' selfie on the bus
