I'd say that's pretty good advice if you're worried about the crime in an area, but those neighborhoods aren't crazy and you'd absolutely be fine. If you aren't buying drugs or in a gang or making a living via petty theft you'll probably not get shot.

you're going to have to poll a lot of people to get an accurate description of what its like. all it takes is one crime for it to get a reputation with people and on the other side, its completely possible to have no issues in a heavy crime area.

so far around those areas we've heard from three groups of people. that person at work who thinks its unfit to live, cousins who go to church there and aren't afraid to let their (preteen) children to walk to the store and such, and my friend who hasn't had any issues.

also i actually went to the neighborhoods and some of the areas are very well kept and the worst doesn't get particularly bad looking. from what i saw they were very quiet with the occasional person doing yardwork.


tho the main reason its bugging me is probably because everytime i make efforts to something it feels like my parents go out of their way to discredit it in some way. i know its more trying to help by making sure everything is covered but its partially why i never get anything done. there always seems to be a concern about why whatever is not up to par
