Isn't it enough that we both like cold temperatures, selective Disney properties, and cheesy croissants with bits of bacon in them? I'll let you take me to a Canucks game with you but then afterwards we play Settlers of Catan and drink.

VI is a great game but I just can't enjoy it more than the PS1 era games.
It needs a remake...
I still enjoy it more than VII...
Though VIII, I still need to play it.
Have it on PSN, but was thinking of getting it on Steam.
My bro really seemed to enjoy it.
Guess I'll buy it on the next Steam sale.
All I know about FF VIII outside of what I played as a kid is Triple Triad and
I like Crisis Core mostly for Zack and Aerith, funny enough. Plus that slot machine limit break system is interesting. Didn't care much for Genesis outside of that 3 way fight between him Sephiroth and Angeal in the danger room.
And I've been actively avoiding XIII, so I guess all that's left for me to do is go back and finish VII, VIII, and X.
Squall possibly being dead at the end.

VIII often gets knocked for being too high school. I typically hate that kind of thing but it didn't really bother me.
My only real complaint about the game is
the time jumping weirdness at the end felt pretty dull
It's difficult to do a time travel plot well. Even Back to the Future had it's problems, as awesome a movie as that is. It's kinda weird watching that movie because I've been to both the clock tower (Universal Studios backlot tour) and that mall (Puente Hills Mall). They are nowhere near each other.
The concept of free will and the perks of being single are starting to dawn on me. I can pretty much do whatever. I don't know why it took this long for me to figure that out.
And you guys keep talking about poutine. Should I go buy some fries from In-N-Out and make poutine myself just to see what the hype is about?

I haven't played through one in a while, but that Record Keeper game makes me want to boot one up. My backlog though... You've seen the pics. XD
I've only seen the first two, and that was a very long time ago. A lot of my friends and family rave about them now though. I wonder if they're on Netflix, I might have to binge watch them and get caught up.

I wonder if we'll ever get a mainline FF that really embraces the roots of the series the way IX did. That seems to be relegated to spin-offs and sub-series now.

True.. I think that's why I love FFIX so much. Gorgeous music and FMV, some really iconic cast members, and very traditionally final fantasy.
Having said that, VIII is also a favorite of mine, and it's very different from the traditional FF concept.
Although, as of recently, it would be nice to see them return to their roots a bit X_X It's been a long time LOL

Yeah they do. XII basically was but the story turned out to be a dud because of internal issues. I think they should give Hiroyuki Ito another chance and let him do what he wants this time.
So I had to google a gif from the family feud episode where that guy yells "naked grandma" to use in that thread for The Visit. I really should have googled "family feud naked grandma gif" instead of just "naked grandma gif" because I'm in a public place and I'm at the far end of the room with my screen facing the rest of the room. Whoops.

VIII is amazing, and it definitely was a different take on the series. I wonder what a traditional FF would even be to SE nowadays though. They've set a path for themselves for the main series that would make it hard to suddenly revert back I think, at least for the core games. But I'd be totally up for it.
