Man, how did I miss this thread?

I'll be watching Natsu no Arashi 2, Darker than Black 2, Blue Literature, and Kuchu Buranko for sure.

Other ones that look at least somewhat interesting to me are Tatakau Shisho, Kimi ni Todoke, and Winter Sonata.

I skimmed through the list and all I can say is Mahoromatic ftw! As for the rest, I'll have to look a little closer.

Huh, has anyone here read Kobato, the manga? Or is there a manga? I'm a sucker for the cutesy stuff, and I might check out the anime when it starts airing.

Also checked out Natsu no Arashi, shit was hilarious. Looking forward to the new season, will most likely watch (in order of preference):

1: Kuuchuu Buranko
2: Natsu no Arashi 2
3: Darker Than Black 2

It is definitely cute, and utterly slow. It'd be boring if CLAMP's art wasn't so damn gorgeous.

There's a few that look interesting but those usually turn out to be crap and the good ones end up being ones I never expected to be good.

I know this is just Values Dissonance and all that jazz, but I can't wrap my head around a show starring anthropomorphized train stations

It's no worse than talking cars. And we used to have an actual children's show about talking trains, too, though its name escapes me.

By the way--has anyone here heard of Cencoroll?

Er, Thomas the Tank Engine?

Heh, I guess it really isn't all that strange when you think about it, although the fact that their appearance is completely human is what gets me. It makes me think that if Microsoft had been a Japanese company the MSWord paper clip would have become the MSWord Gothic Nun or something like that.

Kuuchuu Buranko
Adaption of the award-winning collection of short stories by Hideo Okuda, directed Mononoke's Nakamura Kenji. The protagonist is an eccentric neurologist with an injection fetish and an Oedipus complex that is known for making patients much worse before they get better. SHOW OF THE YEAR RIGHT HERE, BROTHERS.

Fuck. Yes.

Thanks for making this post, I would've completely missed out on this if you hadn't - i'm so out of touch with anime, but Mononoke was the last series I truly fell in love with, so i'll definetly be checking this out.

What I'm going start watching . . .

Queen's Blade: Heir to the Throne . . . WOW, I thought this series ended at episode 2! Couldn't find any vids on veoh and stopped. Just googled it and came to a site that has 10 episodes 0_o Gonna watch them all!

Nyan Koi - I like cats.

Kämpfer - I love yuri!

Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra - Black girl on the cover is worth a peep by it's self.

The Sacred Blacksmith - Samurai Champloo and Michiko to Hatchin are great so this should be too!

And MAYBE Fairy Tail. I haven't read the manga yet but it might be a good stepping stone into OP seeing as it bites that style.

Huh, I was just starting to read the Fairy Tail manga. Good thing I only read a few so far, I might just stop and watch the anime then. It's pretty much One Piece with magic, except this time it wont be ruined by the dub for me :lol

You should read the author's previous work Rave Master, it's pretty damn good.

Thanks the recommendation, I'll check it out now that I can just watch the anime of FT. Also currently about to read O-Parts which sounded like it had a cool premise. Hopefully its good.
Edit:
Hmm well there is a Rave Master anime too. Should I just watch that instead or is the manga better in some way? I'm pretty lazy about this sort of thing and prefer to watch anime rather than read manga.

Enjoy Fairy Tail while it's good, because it quickly turns to shit at around the eightieth chapter mark.

How so? And oh well it'll take a while for the anime to reach that point so I'll enjoy the ride till then. I don't mind mild spoilers in the form of something like "It becomes too convoluted" or something along those lines.

Don't waste your time with Rave. The manga is shit (lame OP copycat without the funny and the awesome of OP) and I'd guess the anime can't be much different.
Fairy Tail is fairly good (at least for the first 2 volumes of the manga, still have to read the other 9 that I have laying around) so just wait for it.

Since nothing seems to be good this time around... what is a god anime to get into? The last thing I watched was Michiko and Hatchin and before that... Mai Hime / Samurai Champloo (about 3-4 years before that?)

Mononoke;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mononoke_(TV_series)

Mononoke follows a wandering, nameless character known only as the "Medicine Seller" (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai). The series is made up of individual chapters in which the medicine seller encounters, combats and subsequently destroys various mononoke. The "mononoke" are a type of ayakashi, unnatural spirits that linger in the human world.

The directing and art have been called "boldly confrontational." It seamlessly blends a murder mystery structure with "twist of supernatural and a shake of historical, peppered with plenty of stylistic experimentation." It frequently achieves "the ideal - great directing combined with great animation." The Mainichi newspaper said it could not be dismissed as a mere experiment, and that the story's themes were every bit as advanced as the digital animation techniques employed.

I watched the first two eps on Youtube. Badass. haha Got anything else?

Depends on how much SHAFT you can tolerate, I suppose, but I suggest Bakemonogatari. I thought it was the best anime of the year thus far.

Will be checking out:

Queens Blade :lol
Kimi ni Todoke
Sasameki Koto
DARKER THAN BLACK:Ryuusei no Gemini (Maybe)
One Pie...Fairy Tail
Kuuchuu Buranko

Ah, the infamous pantyshot test. It's like the SZS intros, where the yuri bondage prints turned off some viewers.

Well, that's SHAFT.

The OP of episode 1 is not indicative of the tone of the series, it's just SHAFT being SHAFT. I highly suggest you give the rest of the first episode a shot.

Of course, if you don't like it then, you should probably stop watching. Bakemonogatari is a very verbose series with minimal action.

They should have just gone full hentai with Queen's Blade 2, judging from the first episode. Tentacles raping a girl's mouth, what will they show in the second episode?

DARKER THAN BLACK: Ryuusei no Gemini
Sequel to the Darker than Black TV show. Suou Pavlichenko, a cheerful 13 year old girl living in Russia, becomes embroiled in the war of the various factions and Contractors vying for power.

:lol :lol :lol

I love the mentioning of Suou Pavlichenko a cheerful 13 year old, when in the picture she looks very sad and miserable.

Fairy Tail's main problem is that it enjoys hitting the reset button at the end of the arc and quickly becomes predictable in its conventions. Its still a fun read and neat series but you have to keep your expectations in check. The best way I find of describing the series is that its "One Piece's style with Bleach's structure".

I prefer 'the annoying perkiness of One Piece without the awesome.'

oh and hell yeah for FairyTale, can't wait for that.

hopefully they don't destroy it like they did with D-Grey man and sould eater

Major is FUCKING AWESOME

Is this excitement based on you watching the first season? I was impressed by Major too (Slightly nostalgic childhood drama), then stopped watching it when
Goro grew up
, forgot every character, and became a run of the mill shonen baseball show.

Watch the whole first episode, you might be impressed.
I felt EXACTLY the same way about those first 10 seconds.

Pretty much feel the same way. The first season had awesome games that utilized clever baseball strategies, but that all went away in the next seasons. So disappointing. Luckily One Outs filled the vacancy left by Major :-)

I actually like Major season 3 more than season one, heck fuck that i love the entire series thus far and can't wait for the next season.

Mid s2+s3 was awesome. It had the rivalry against Kaido, which is the best arc in the entire series IMO. Season 4 was absolute shit. Season 5 was okay, but too much filler.

Oh man! Kokoro (by Soseki) is one of the literary works being adapted for Blue Literature. I have to watch it, probably just to watch one of my favorite books get massacred.

First six episode = best, Best yeah. The Kaido stuff was good. 4 was terribly boring, and 5 was a bit better but not much.

also i'm gonna check out;
(After I checkout Canaan, SZS 2 and 3.)
Kobato
Natsu no Arashi 2
Kimi no Todoke
Trapeze
Blue Literature
Winter Sonata

Huh, is that a new Shakugan no Shana for October 23rd?

Shana is weird, I think it's a bad show but I've always kept up with it. Probably one of the worst fucking protagonists out there with the most annoying love triangle ever.

Yup, they greenlit a third.
