Oh, well when Vanquish said to throw him down the pit or whatever, I thought that he was just trying to shame Cyan Pile, not "fire" him from the guild. Okay then.

Well.... It'll come to you later. Just keep watching. You're entering the second arc!

That sounds great!

I'm talking about Code:Breaker, dude. I don't hate Zetsuen, it's just a lot of nonsense.
Wait, Code:Breaker is shounen? lol
I'm even more confused, since Jex thinks its the best thing ever, etc, etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure. You have some of the cast for The Simpsons who can do a wide variety of voices and then even going back to anime, there was the one guy in the English dub of DragonBall Z who did a bunch of different voices.

I was going to say with the Japanese seiyuu they change more the volume or pitch of their voice more than outright change it. Kana Hanazawa has a bunch of different voices but you can always tell it's her. There's actually quite a few English dub speakers who do this too though, such as Johnny Yong Bosch. There are also a lot of one or two note people and not just in anime but going back to regular cartoons.

It's not like seiyuu's can't change their voice as Kotono Mitsuishi, who does Sailor Moon, has a much different voice for her than, say, Jury from Utena. I didn't even know she did both voices until I looked it up. I recognize Yuriko Fuchizaki's voice for Anthy in Utena but she did the voice of a young boy in Saint Seiya Omega and her voice was so different I couldn't tell it was her at all.

I guess it depends on your familiarity with a given seiyuu as well. Most people seem to think Rie Kugimiya is rather one note because she gets type cast into "Kugi loli" roles often. She can have a rather soft, almost ojousama type voice, such as her role as Shannon in Umineko. I haven't heard it personally but I've read people express surprise when they find out she does the voice for Alphonse in Full Metal Alchemist, so she actually has a few different voices.

I'd say the English and Japanese are probably comparable. Listening to many English dubs years ago the voice actors and actresses seemed rather one note or only did more of a pitch/volume change too. When it came to outright changing their voice it seemed it was more people who worked more exclusively in western cartoons such as Spongebob or The Simpsons.
Hah, well, I don't think it's fair to compare the people who are real grinders and get to do big shows and the people who do anime dubs. I figure that's like the divide between legit voice actors and porn voice actors in Japan (even if porn voice actors get paid more lol).

The women who can do boys/male characters are probably the ones with the most range. Maybe altos just have better range and this is yet another Kobayashi is great post in disguise. lol

Most of the men tend to basically just play variations of themselves or are basically just known for their voice and don't bother trying to hide it, like Wakamoto.

The thing with the Kugilolis is that it's more role-related than performance related. Like you can hear her voice in Kagura and Ed pretty clearly if you're able to divorce all the BAKA BAKA BAKA stuff from the way her voice sounds.

And you know, as weird as it sounds, American cartoons seem to be willing to be more abstract. So that even if the Spongebob voice is based on a real person (sort of), it somehow "makes sense" that it's attached to a yellow square sponge. You probably can't get too crazy when every other anime that's being made is set in high school anyway.

Not much to say about this episode beyond
Reinhard-sama's total assimilation of the Alliance being complete. I do like how they go to high attempts to demonstrate he's a caring rule with a disregard for corruption, up to the point that even the Republicans welcome his invasion. So charismatic, so handsome, so fabulous.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 074
Super sexist. I find the idea hot though. Kate is incredibly adorable.#cajunmode
Sounds like a George W. Bush quote.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 075

God damn Reinhard you just done goofed. Don't look over here when your head is parading around Heinessenpolis on a stake.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 076
Laugh at themselves for their tiny Alliance penises. Using the Imperial Cock as a method for subjugation against the Alliance people is simply too much firepower.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 077
R.I.P. Sexy Beard. :'( You were far too handsome for an actual character role.

Did you watch the Japanese original Sailor Moon or some other language dub? I'd personally recommend watching the original if you haven't.

I watched the German dub. I might watch the original later on, but right now I have some 1500 episodes of anime to watch. :p

It may be demographically a 'shounen' work but it's genre is more "stupid stuff happening". For the record, I don't think it's the best thing ever but it is highly entertaining.

You don't know what love is. Go on a date with the girl you like but talk about another guy the whole time. Why doesn't he realize it. What a hectic scene at the beach. He's not a traitor. Characters have problems communicating with each other. :(
He knows what love is, he just doesn't realise he loves the Sentaro cock.

#ironywatch!

Hmm, I wouldn't say so. When I watch some I actively dislike, such as School Days, that's something different (I'd like to point out that I did my School Days expressions years ago, back before it was cool). No one's forcing me to watch Code:Breaker and I don't think it's actually a bad show in any respect (apart from the writing). The main girl is a glorious HERO OF JUSTICE. What's not to like?

Okay, so this kind of thing bothers me, because even in the future it's silly to think that a game is going to accurately reproduce real-world physics down to the atomic level. I'd rather have an explanation for why an attack does or doesn't work based on a set of believable gameplay mechanics than "I'll use Catapult Turtle to launch my Gaia the Dragon Champion into your Castle of Dark Illusion, breaking the floatation ring and crushing the monsters trapped underneath by your Chaos Shield" type of ridiculously specific, made-up-on-the-fly stuff. The battle as a whole was pretty unsatisfying given the fact that
Sliver Crow and Aqua Current were getting their asses kicked the entire time only for Silver Crow to suddenly end it in a single attack against higher-level opponents
.

Next episode looks.......wut?

The "stupid stuff happening" is just integrated into the fighting. You should be able to figure out it's a standard battle shounen from the OP. It just happens to have more evil protagonists than normal for the genre.

Shin Koihime Musou - 12 [END]

They handled the yellow turban rebellion with an
idoru battle.
I have no words. :lol

It looks like Guan Yu finally accepted
Liu Bei as her older sister near the end of the episode. Yay.

Not gonna lie, only excited for the next season because of this:

Wu Dynasty baby! Let's go!

I told you the second season was a low point ( there was some small good moments ) but it's not that great ..HOWEVER ..the third season should put you back into gear ..and yes the 3rd season wu dynasy episode(s) won't disapoint ...

Except that accel world rules allow that to be possible ..you'd think a game where your powers comes from examining your dreams and fears can't have crazy complex rules ?

Ah, right, I remember those. I've seen someone with your Palutena drawing too.

I used to draw quite a bit when I was younger but it was more sketches and I didn't really colour much of them in. I would more often look at a picture from a magazine or video game booklet or something and draw that than original stuff but I did enough of that too.

I got good enough at replicating pictures that people accused me of tracing and it got to the point that if I was entering a contest or competition, I would bring the original to the judges for reference, to show that I had simply scaled the drawing up or down in size.

I haven't drawn at all for about ten years though and all my pictures are put away. Sometimes I've wanted to take a look at the odd one I could remember but I can't remember which box some of them are stored in and for now it's too much hassle to look. :(

You mean this one? If not, I drew that one too.
Back in highschool I won like $100 in an art contest with a painting. It was one of the jurors' top picks. Looking back on it, I think it was awful, but who am I to judge?
I don't think I could ever stop drawing even if I wanted to. Helps me keep my mind off of things.

I don't find the genre descriptor 'battle shounen' to be particularly helpful because so many works fall under that category, many of which are more different then they are similar. I mean, FMA, Berserk, Hajime no Ippo, Hunter x Hunter are all fairly different from each other.

Oops. Forgot. This episode was a SS from Elements. Next episode is the start of the new arc.

I generally break it down more by whether they're standard or not. All the ones you listed I consider either non-standard or semi-standard.

The way I see it, unless fighting isn't the main purpose, people having battles with elemental abilities is as standard as you can get. That's essentially what Code:Breaker is all about.

Kamisama_Hajimemashita_-_01

i dunno what to think about this anime..
so :
-a high school girl becomes homeless , hayate no gotoku style...
-Meet a guy by chance that give her , his god powers ..
-find herself at odds with her possible familliar

shake everything... and present ..add some comedy ... and that's it ...
vE6yll.jpg

Here i thought the anime would turn serious ... And then it didn't .... i shouldn't expect serious things to happen in this , right ?

Well for the first episode , it wasn't that bad ..there is some possible chemistry in there that might be funny at times
Judging by the opening , there will be a high amount of bishonen inside ..but i survived hakuoki , so that shouldn't be a problem..

too bad the fox doesn't go dual gender like "Wagaya no Oinari-sama"

Will follow this serie , might be fun ...

But Accel World is like that to, to an extent anyway, and that's a completely different show again. That's why I think it's important to focus on the differences, such as everyone being an evil dick, because if you look at the broader genre landscape nearly every work (except Limit Cycle) will fall under one genre or other.

I think when a certain trope ends up being used to such a large extent, you can categorize it into a genre or sub-genre. I think it's fair to call "humanoid creatures fighting each other in one on ones with supernatural abilities and utilizing specific strategies as the fight escalates until reaching its conclusion" standard battle shounen just because of how ridiculously common it is even if it does sound super specific.

In the case of Accel World, I actually would categorize it as semi-standard because of how unique Brain Burst is. This is just my opinion, but I'd be much more open to put something with such a different setting in that category than something with non-standard character archetypes for protagonists. Even then, it's not like villain protagonists/anti-heroes are anything new for the genre.

I can't really keep track of all these characters in the larger story, but this episode was good and this arc holds a fair amount of potential. The character art in this show is often atrocious and in many ways holds the show back from being cool, but I like the background art oftentimes. It has a pretty involved level of detail that helps to raise the more global feel of the show, and the show does give off the perception that it is decently worldly without really even doing anything to back it up.

I find a lot of the story stuff interesting within this arc and there were a number of better character moments within this episode that help certain figures shine well. Pace is also just right, and even with the flashbacks the show is avoiding getting tangled all up over itself.

Oh yeah, OP sucks. ED is cool with me.
