Fall 2013 Anime |OT| When is Crunchyroll coming to GTA Online?

Because Gen IV was the shittiest generation of Pokemon. 5 earned back my faith, but Goddamn, aside from the G/S remakes, Gen IV was SHIT. And the sooner I don't have to have Cynthia reminding me how lame Gen 4 was, the better.

Gen IV really was lame. I really don't like any of the games from it (even the remakes). Gen 5 (or at least B/W1) I enjoyed a lot. It had the least pandering, on top of forcing you to use new mons. Gives them glory, and there's plenty to choose from to make a team. B2/W2 would've been great, but frankly felt a bit grindy for me (which is why I'm not throwing a shitfit over the new EXP All).

Watching this just after watching Kitakubu really drives home just how much of a gulf in quality there is between the two shows. THIS is how you do a gag anime. The reception skit showed how you can do humor with very little dialogue and still have it be hilarious. And the end skit was AMAZING (though I'd seen it before on Youtube).

This show really is wonderful.

I'll admit that the grindy-ness is a bit shit in B/W2, but the sheer amount of great content in that game is staggering. Adored every second I put into it. Probably my favorite Pokemon game, though it looks like Gen VI may top it. Gen IV is easily the worst for me as I didn't enjoy any of the main 3 or the remakes. HG and SS just reminded me how disappointing Gen 2 is.

It wasn't just the grindyness for me, it was also the fact that I can't really play the "director's cut" releases anymore, so the grindyness getting in the way just made it wear out much faster. Shame because I wanted to have a usable Volcarona.

Speaking of which, that is Gen V's bullshit. Absurd level requirements.

It's a recurring issue? I thought it was because of my poverty internet. smh.

...So....about ten minutes ago, I just got the Blu-Ray/DVD collection of the first few episodes of Freezing. For free, factory sealed. I am unsure how to feel about this.

Well you got a show for free....

I really hate that vulnerable, sad expression. I don't know what mood they were trying to set with that scene but the only vibes I got were bad.

I know. It might have been effective if it was an attractive character, but its just Asuna.

I enjoyed Gen V a lot, and while I appreciated its forcing you to use new mons only, I really wish trade barriers weren't a thing, because sometimes it makes for such a huge hassle if you want to bring a team through the gens.

Gen IV's one redeeming feature was the Gen II remakes. While I confess that I love Gen I-II's designs the most, Gen III was one of my faves. I'm really hyped for Gen VI, though. Fire/Dragon Charizard is finally gonna happen, (shame I have to get X for it, 'cuz Yveltal is boss), and more to the point, NEW TYPE. Been so long since we had one of those!

There's a Dengeki fighting game? I don't even want to think about how overpowered Kirito is going to be.

Asuna is the SAO representative, not Kirito. Not that we know for sure that Kirito won't be in it yet.

The game also has Misaka (Railgun), Kirino (OreImo), Shana (Shakugan no Shana), Kuroyukihime (Accel World), and Shizuo (Durarara). Plus some other characters from those shows as support characters.

As long as they get Taiga and someone from Maou-sama in there, I'm importing. Hell, I'll import just for Taiga.

Honestly, the new type seems to be there for the sake of not nerfing dragons for the sake of balance, and Fairy has shit weaknesses (as in good luck worrying about that shit). Nevermind that no noteworthy poison 'Mons have been officially revealed yet.

I'm also not fond of the Gen II remakes because while it highlights a good chunk of Gen 2's problems, it also added a shit-ton of bloat to the underlying mechanics that just makes it unfriendly to even chip at, on top of having hoops to jump through for the sake of rechallenging the Gym leaders since they're the best way to level up... because wild levels are pretty shit.

The screenshots look really bad. It doesn't even give off the Melty Blood feeling of, "I have no idea why they're fighting but it looks fun."

I don't think it was necessarily obvious that some of the craziest GAF opinions on anime would all appear in that thread. I mean, people listed Grave of the Fireflies and Cowboy Bebop.

Well this was to be expected. ITs just another outlet to hate this fandom.

Niiiiiice. Now if they just fix everything else about Magi that isnt Ren or Mor.

Or eyecancer inducing.

Oh lord..why?

By the way, I've heard that this is what happens every time you mix up the acronyms for KLK and KnK this season.

(original pixiv link)

HNNNNNNNGH. I approve!

Man, its been years since I've watched any anime. I feel so old :(

Luckily I've been getting the itch though. I can't watch to watch Kill la Kill and maybe catch up with Gundam 00. I want to try Yowamushi Pedal, but i'm hoping its not too targeted for "hot guys", I just like cycling.

I just signed up with Crunchyroll hoping this will get me back in the scene. Its still crazy to me there is a service that I can just give money to give me up to date anime that isn't subbed. Its like the future.

Crunchyroll has pretty much spoiled the hell out of current anime fans.
Yall are so lucky and you probably dont even realize it.

Madoka Magika - 01

Episode was interesting. I do enjoy the modern/futuristic school setting and the ambient mysterious music that played when Homura was on screen. The ending was a bit abstract and weird when the scenery started to change and then blondie (I shall call her that for now) saved the day with her own abstract/weird stuff...

I came into this having watched Mawaru Penguindrum and I hope it will deliver the same feels as I progress through the show. Overall the episode was enjoyable however the plot is still up in the air, hope it is grounded soon so I can hopefully invest into the show.

One of my favorite animes of all time at this point. Its very very good.
Ill not spoil a thing. Not a single thing.

Gen II had 16 gyms and 2 regions. When another game does that, then I'll sit down and worry about whatever other flaws Gen II had. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it had 16 gyms and 2 regions. The only thing that has me even near that hype is Gen 5's World Championship.

Considering the comprimises that happened (and the fact that GameFreak seem to be shoddy devs when it comes to 3D), I'm not sure if I really want that.

Ok FINE! ALMOST everything that is wrong with industry today!

What exactly do you dislike with most of those titles?
I think that line up is quite nice already. If you look at the crap MF Bunko J puts out ...
If you want something more "mature" you could always read MW Bunko, Kodansha, or Gentosha's books instead of Dengeki's.

Or you could read actual books.

I recommend Keigo Higashino books like The Devotion of Suspect X and The Salvation of a Saint. They both even exist in translated form and translated by Alex O. Smith.,

a certain magical index season 2 1-24 END

Much better than the first season. Story is better and it looks as good as Railgun. Watching Railgun first pays off in that you're more familiar with some of the side characters like Kuroko and Uihara. I thought it was odd how Saten didn't make an appearance though. The ending wasn't really an ending at all. Hopefully season 3 is a lock. The fights with Touma all follow the same formula though. The guy still can't fight. He gets lucky, gets close, throws a haymaker and it's done. Pretty boring in that respect. He can survive all his encounters because of dumb villains and bad writing. oh, and he gives a speech about right and wrong which the villain is too dumb to realize. It's the oddest thing about this series.

Next up is the movie and then a certain scientific railgun S.

The problem with the 2nd season of Index (among other things) is that there's way too much focus on the deathly boring magic side. It just gets dumber and dumber.

This one was easily one of the best of the new season so far. The two main characters have a great dynamic. I had a feeling this one would be good, glad it delivers.

I didn't mind it either, but I'm an easy mark for shows about temples and spirits and such.

Walkure Romanze 1

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going in. I'm still not sure whether the focus is going to be on the jousting, or character relationships, but it's got me interested enough to stay with it.

Could have done without some of the horse antics though, unless those girls sleep in applecarts or wash their clothes in apples.

I didn't find anything wrong with the magic focus but I would've liked to have seen some more level 5s or level 4s I suppose.

Has a third season been confirmed? Was Railgun S pretty popular?

It's only a matter of time, they did just do a movie for Index in the past year as well.'

As per something's lists from AOD.

034) *24,494 2009 To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
053) *16,993 2010 To Aru Majutsu no Index II
054) *16,752 2013 To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S ★(3 vol)
087) *12,126 2008 To Aru Majutsu no Index

Can't wait for Worst that is actually Best.

And you'll get what you want in a 3rd season.

SIXTEEN GYMS, man. TWO regions. That shit blew my mind when I was 12, and it continues to be the best quest in Pokemon for me. You beat up a whole bunch of new guys, a whole bunch of old guys, then you beat yourself for good measure.

Does Vegeta have greatest character development of all time?

It's like Piccolo didn't do his entire arc before him with less angst!

Those are nice but chances of them getting an anime is next to 0.
Tfw there will never be any god-tier mystery adaptations. Ever.

We could've had Zaregoto animated instead of Monogatari (which just gets worse and worse).
We could've had Shoushimi series instead of Kotenbu series.
We could've had Mansion series instead of Another.

Why do they always choose all the lame ones to animate?

:Reactions:
Implying you're not going to forget them all when the new spirits start showing
Tohko master race still though.

Also maximum hype for Tokyo Raven if 2-cour isn't a lie. Volume 6 and on feel like a totally different series compare to 1-3, and volume 4+5 are basically forced by the publisher onto the author. Shitty FujimiShobo always love to make their authors write the most stupid short stories amid their long runs. If they axe 4+5 they could finish the entire part I of the book in 2 cour and have a very nice ending without rushing.

Not even gifcam can help me make a decent gif :(

Kirito will be in 100%, if he wasn't going to be a character in this game he would've been Asuna's support, like Touma is for Biri Biri lol.

I expect either Maou or Emi to get it from Maou-sama, they pushed a lot of novels thanks to the anime which sold pretty damn well itself.

What exactly do you dislike with most of those titles?

Yeah Dengeki's lineup is way better than MF Bunko J.

Golden Time feels more like a Pet Girl set in college more than something resembling Toradora. The really blatant harem set up is kind of pushes it more in one direction than the other. But hey, hopefully the show doesn't squander the fact that the characters are adults and not high school students anyway.

Totally forgot I was following Tsunenori Saito on twitter thanks to Duckroll linking it in the thread in February. Turns out he'd posted some new stuff the past couple months I'd just never noticed!

Those are some nice sketches. Always neat to see more animators use Twitter or other social media for stuff like this.

Out of 56 illustrations he's done on Twitter so far:
- 39 are for Stranger
- 8 are for Zetsuen
- 5 are for Cowboy Bebop
- 2 are for G-Gundam
- 2 are for RahXephon

Zaregoto :( I aint even mad.... just :(

Tokyo Ravens 2 cour isn't exactly confirmed? I'm a bit worried in regards to production though since 8-Bit are doing it along with IS 2 and Walkure Romanze this season. And they've like only done 2 series before this, well 3 if you want to count a 5 min anime. (Though they did help alot on Aquarion EVOL and the Frontier movies).

idolwr@ssler 1

You can't fool me, Japan! This isn't a wrestling anime, it's a fucking bdsm fetish anime! Where you listen to painful moans of girls as the shot of their bulge stays on screen for what feels like an eternity.

It's also just another bland idol show. It lacks any of the silliness and style of wrasslin. I mean if you're going to do a haircut match do it right!

Give me a show where anime characters act out old wrasslin' plots! That would be good anime! But if you want to hear moans and look at bulges but don't know how to search for porn, I guess this is the show for you!

Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!/Wanna be the Strongest in the World! Episode 1

Jesus this anime sounds like your watching Hentai lol

And those close ups of the faces when the girls are in pain its like they are getting penetrated lmao

I'm not one to tout quantity over quality, and generally roll my eyes when I see new content is preferred over fixing problems (or both) since new content doesn't really address the problem. I mean, HGSS was pretty much lets throw everything in and a kitchen sink, and you can still nail its problems in the remake that existed in the old game, on top of the bloated shit that came with the package too!

Y'know, I wonder how many LN series under Dengeki Bunko have a Maou of some sort somewhere in their story.

I'd also ask how many have an imouto in a lead role, but that number would probably be too many to count.

Sorry, I guess I should explain - when writers can't find a way to make [almost always female] characters interesting or conflicted, they'll sometimes throw in a rape to spice things up but just tamely enough not to make it quite the devastating fulcrum event in the lives of its characters that it ought to be. Like easy, exploitative shorthand for real character development. It has been a disturbingly prevalent trend in American comic books in particular for decades, but I'm sure it's not rare in other mediums, either.

Btooom isn't the deepest thing around, but it definitely fucks the character in question up quite a bit. Also, it's attempted rape, not full-on rape (obviously not downplaying that, but I think the way it effects the character is somewhat believable).

This episode made me feel all warm and comfortable inside, it's wonderful. I was a bit concerned about having that sort of conflict in the very first episode, but after it ended I felt like I really understood our two main characters Makoto (who is goddamn precious by the way) and Gintaro. These two just have a really heartfelt relation with each other and I'm incredibly eager as to how the show will develop it.

Cant wait. Soooo precious looking!

Haibane Renmei 6

So Kuu reaches the "day of flight" and seems to have left forever, leaving her halo behind. So...where did she go? Is she dead, or has she just been summoned out of the town? And why Kuu? Right now the only thing that I can think it might have something to do with is how...I forget who it was was telling Rakka about how she had grown up a good amount since being born as a Haibane, mainly by no longer trying to be like everybody else. And that the jacket that she gave Rakka was something she had been holding onto for a while. And the Kuu even credited Rakka with giving her some of those "drops in the glass" that she felt she had, letting on that she felt that her time to leave had come.

And Reki had that one mysterious comment at the end about how eventually, "everybody leaves me". Wonder what she meant by that. I don't think it has to do with that guy they were talking about last episode. Sounds a bit more personal and permanent than that.

More mysteries await, but not all of it will be explained. Its very interpretive.

Tetsuko no Tabi (That Train Otaku Show)

This show is boring, but in a good way. It's very chill and relaxing, makes me ready for a nap. I didn't know anything about this show before I started watching it except that it was about train otakus, but I suspected that there was more to it than that. Nope, that's literally it. Just this otaku dude, his editor, and a non-otaku manga artist riding the rails and visiting station after station, while the otaku dude tells them what's cool about each station (not much). But it's easy to watch, and it's mildly amusing to watch someone geek out over their hobby, and like I said it's very relaxing.

This looks like a good show to just relax to when Im sleepy or something.

Curious, I'm watching the show on Crunchyroll and I swear there's a mini-ED for the first 2 episodes, oh well.

Madoka Magika 04-05

Really loving it so far. Though I do enjoy mindfucks like that of Steins;Gate or Mawaru Penguindrum it is nice that I can enjoy the dark themes and pay attention/understand the story progression.

Looks like Sayaka finally bought into the wish and even though the results look sweet and happy so far I can't help but feel that it will all come crashing down driving her into a downward spiral in regret. The fight scene with the new Magical Girl (I shall call her reddie until a name is revealed) looked like it drove some doubts into Sayaka.

Theory Time

Now as for Kyubei, I predict that this little cat-fox-thing is going to be the main villain of the series. His constant passive-aggressive persuasion of many girls (as referenced by reddie in that all Magical Girls are created by Kyubei) and Madoka into Magical Girls is starting to become more prominent with only Homura trying to stop it. I would even say that the Witches are some creation of his doing.

I'm warming up to Homura and supporting her own little quest of sorts but its soon becoming evident that Madoka might follow suit due to her attachment to Mami and Sayaka.

Nice theories. always love reading Madoka impressions.
