I don't know who Kintaro's English VA is, but he's my hero.

I liked this one the most so far. The whole scene at the horse track completely cracked me up. Also much more toned down in ecchi stuff compared to the last two, although I assume that won't stay the case.

Golden Boy 4

"So. How do you like my swimming?"

This one was also a lot of fun. The first swimming scene and the bit where the instructor is yelling at him and he repeats it and then, when she asks if he agrees with what she said, he responds with a passionate "Not a word of it!" were the best bits for me.

It's Doug Smith. He's done...basically nothing anime-wise besides this and few minor roles.

And, yeah, episode 5 is basically porn, so get ready for that.

If only there was some way of making gifs have sound... I'd actually saw this scene before on Youtube, which was how I heard about the show in the first place, but it really didn't lessen the impact of it when I actually watched it.

Uchouten Kazoku - The Eccentric Family
I just watched the first two episodes last night in bed. It was hard for me to stop after just two, even though it was 3 AM. This show is simply blowing me away. Please please please don't go down in quality. My last three anime have let me down big time. But this show? It's quality is so damn good I feel like I'm watching a movie.....can't wait to dig in more tonight.

This just in, racism!! Thanks Momoko!

Majo Reed "hates" the japanese for beating around the bush, but she still loves the sweets and culture considering there's a heavy japanese theme in her experiments and the village in general.

Man, when Doremi crashed into her, that was nightmare fuel right there. Turns out that there's a bit of irony here!

5 exams down. We have one left.

You have nothing to worry about as this series is fantastic from beginning to end.

Infinite Stratos
Going back to the concept of "advantages," tell me something, if a girl constantly sneaks into a boy's room naked and sleeps with him, literally not figuratively here, AND still can't get any play or action from the guy what kind of advantage does she have really? Any? None? That it's actually a sign of a disadvantage? Yeah I agree with that.
It's definitely not a good sign, yeah, but most of the time none of them actually make any progress in their would-be relationships with Ichika the world's densest guy, so it's not as bad as it would be otherwise... or in any series actually trying for any kind of realism. IS S2 may be different from S1, but it's definitely not more sane.

It doesn't have to be absolute, in real life people are rarely defined by such extreme personalities else there'd be chaos in the streets. Personalities are generally more subtle than what you see in media, but, since media does start with such extreme personalities it's all the more jarring then when they're diluted.

Speaking of overstating cases....
Still, each one still does have at least a few distinguishing characteristics left... less than S1, yes, but they're not ALL gone.

Huh? Really? I've seen tons of harems where people kiss. Or are kissed. Doesn't seem to be some all encompassing rule.

Of course the real revelation there would actually be that
Ichika would apparently want something romantic to happen between Hyouki and himself.
Not that I care though because honestly speaking, ignoring events that happen, or better yet, almost happen is already a specialty of Infinite Stratos characters anyways so in a way it's completely in character!
I guess that is true, sure. I mean, IS characters have made dramatic character changes with no explanation before, so why not ignore major events too, right? But still, they should have done SOMETHING, even just an excuse about why it doesn't matter... just like, yes, they shouldn't have left Britain's falling in love with Ichika between one scene and the next completely unexplained. (On that note the two IS mangas both give different explanations for why Britain falls in love with Ichika. Both are incredibly stupid sexist junk, unsurprisingly.)

However though...
I do think it's possible that it wasn't entirely forgotten; remember, the kiss never happened. It's possible that this season could end on a similar note. If you want to emphasize that Houki is the likely winner girl without having an ending that involves actual relationship progress, that'd be the thing to do.

I really do like how we see characters that are just not on the team but do play some role with the team. And we get some focus on them too!

Kill la Kill 4

Pure and fun madness. It may have had little to do with world-building or plot, but even an episode like this is still very entertaining. It's just so unconventional, energetic, random and crazy. Every time things look like it's about to dial down, Mako keeps it going. I can't imagine how the show would turn out if Mako wasn't around.

Can't imagine it not being dubbed. Maybe they've wrapped up production on it already - wouldn't be the first time for Bones.

It would really be impressive if they can get it dubbed this close to air. Either they finished up awhile ago and sent it out quietly to a dub production studio (which is impressive nobody squealed) or the dub turn around is very quick.

Has this ever, and I mean ever, been done before?

White Album 2 3

The sound direction in this show is quite good. I attribute that to three main reasons.

1) The recording of detailed sound effects to match the character's actions, more than just your typical clothing rustle. This was especially noticeable in the opening scene with Kitahara and Takuya in the practice room, in which you could tell the staff recorded someone actually sitting down on the chair, opening up a guitar case, plugging in an amp, and so on. These effects give aural weight to the characters' actions, helping to create a believable fictional world.

2) Attention to how voices are recorded. This can be seen best in the scene in Setsuna's bedroom, where you have use of stereo in some moments to indicate character positioning, and a realistic portrayal of voices behind a closed door - they aren't just softer, they're muffled in the appropriate manner.

3) Careful timing of the soundtrack. This is important in a music-focused anime, and the selection and use of the classical piano music and pop songs has been good, but this also extends to the normal soundtrack. For instance, when Setsuna quiets Kitahara and Touma, the track which had been accompanying their lively discussion fades out as Setsuna strains her ears to listen to the whispering going on behind her door. I like that it doesn't just stop, but the (inconclusive) ending chord is moved into a echoing resonance and gradually faded out. Along with the fading to black done between scenes to indicate the passage of time, it suits the soft atmosphere of the show. I think the soundtrack is taken from the game, so I'm glad it's being used in a way appropriate for anime, unlike, say, the awkward use of Meguro's soundtrack in Persona 4.

This is the kind of sound direction that greatly assists in me becoming immersed in a show.

It'd explain the rumored Fall airing, at least. And assuming it did wrap up, they basically had four, five months to get it done.

Each episode of Kurokami aired on TV in Japanese, English and Korean within the span of 24 hours, from what I remember.

I'm so used to shitty production scheduling that this would be pretty impressive. Not to mention they could have used that extra time polishing everything as well.

Premiere airing and dubbed?

Well, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust was dubbed in English before it was in Japanese, but that was a movie.

And gender something. I had the word in my head for this... gender... gender...

shit. Something that goes with "girls don't understand model planes" or something. Gender.... something. Shit. Seems relevant either way.

Profiling?

How quick was the turnaround on IGPX? I mean, CN/Toonami had a direct hand in it's creation so I think that'd be a good metric of comparison.

Golden Time 4-

Koko is a bitch and not in the Taiga way. I also can't wait for the amnesia plot to kick in when his old self returns and doesn't recognize Koko.

You know, I'm really enjoying Golden Time, but I will drop it like a fucking ROCK if that happens (maybe). I'm pretty sure amnesia doesn't work like that, yet some of Tada's comments in this episode make it seem like that might be what's going to happen.

Also, I thought Koko was a huge bitch at first, too, when she
went on that huge rant directed at poor Chinami
, and I have to admit that it felt good when Mitsuo
went off on her
later on, but her whole
"realization"
scene later on kinda redeemed her a bit. Although
certainly she should have realized long before FUCKING COLLEGE that he didn't like her in that way (though to be fair she says this herself, in a way)
.

The ending of this episode, with everyone's trees, was really sweet. I mean, more sweet than the rest of the episode already was. I like the relationship that's developing between Kouki and Daikichi.

Polar Bear Cafe 6

Darth Panda is the best thing.

In a perfect world Brain's Base would be working on it with Studio Pablo handling the backgrounds.

In a perfect world people would stop trying to keep the zombie corpse of Manglobe alive.

Clannad 10-11

I have to say Nagisa's family is hilarious whenever they're on screen, dad is passionate in everything. And it looks like we are getting into Kotomi's arc,
that first violin scene was hilarious and I like how Kyou and Ryou are getting some screentime. Still miss best girl Fuko.

Honestly, Valvrave is more consistent than Geass was. Geass just sort of stumbled unwittingly into what it eventually became, Valvrave knew what it wanted to be from the start.
