White Album 2 #4 - Continues to be good, though I don't really have much to comment on.

Outbreak Company #4 - this continues to surprise me with the more weighty issues it dips into for this kind of show.

How on earth does someone know to look for a file under "images/teaser_title.jpg" on an otherwise blank and inactive site so far? People are getting scarily good at this.

What does the text on the image say, anyway?

But where is the line between those two. Simply that light novels are aimed at the YA segment and this is essentially a adult novel?

Speaking of which, anyone read the novel its based on? I assume there is no official or fan translation.

The "line" is the publisher's intent, since that's very obvious. Light novels are a specific branding created by publishers in Japan which essentially means they are generally young adult garbage targeted to pander to the younger otaku audience. They are labeled and marketed as such, and:

- Are usually smaller books which are serialized
- Have terrible and over the top titles meant to draw immediate attention from fans of such material
- Pander pander pander
- Feature anime/manga style artwork and designs on the cover and in selected pages in the books to help fans visualize the characters

How on earth does someone know to look for a file under "images/teaser_title.jpg" on an otherwise blank and inactive site so far?

What does the text on the image say, anyway?

Because I'm smart. :p

The text says "The legend of Seiya begins from here." and it's attributed to the original author of Saint Seiya. Probably indicating it's a sort of reboot.

[Monogatari: Second Series] - 17

Not satisfied by the amount of loli content in Yozakura Quartet? Then Monogatari is here to sate your needs with more girls then you can shake a stick at!

In all seriousness, the whole 'shtick' of this series seems to be telling Monogatari stories from perspectives other than Araragi, or at least that's what's happened with both the Cat and the Snake arcs and for the most part that's done a good job in keeping the series interesting as it allows for different kinds of character interactions.

This episode, however, was all setup for the arc which as any fan of the series would know is pretty much how every arc starts. This gives Araragi lots of time to interact with little girls which will certainly make Pixiv happy. Probably the best part of the episode when someone finally commented about Araragi's abs:

Apart from that it's just your standard intro episode which doesn't really let you judge what the main story is actually going to be about. Pretty average stuff.

...

Oh, wait, there's some post credits stuff huh?

...

What in actual the hell is this shit? Spoilers, obviously: http://abload.de/img/mon217bdzojs.png and http://abload.de/img/mon217cw3qf5.png

Shark jumped, etc. Call the PM and tell him to take this stuff of the airwaves.

So Crunchyroll is dipping its toe into providing Manga as well as anime. Pretty happy about this. And not a bad range I guess for 12 titles, even if they are almost all titles that are also anime.

Of course I probably would have preferred them to go into light novels as they are much rarer in the west than manga.

Am rather curious to know how they are handling back issues for those long running titles so newbies can start reading these.

Isn't it subscribers get access to the back issues (no ETA when they are up though yeah?) while everyone gets access to the most current chapter?

To me that just sounded like they keep chapters there for subscribers as they go. I mean 'A Town Where You Live' is up to (just in the scanlations which are behind to some extent) chapter 250 (and Fairy Tail is in the 360 range). I can't imagine they will dump all 250 chapters next week along with whatever is current in Japan.

Well we can ask a certain someone about this.

Looks like we won't be getting an actual opening for Onimonogatari (presumably because Sakamoto Maaya doesn't do "character anime songs").

To be fair, I don't think the author is all that interested in ships anyway. :p

Another "Japan is doomed" documentary, and of course the focused on male nerds:

g7Ehs5ol.png

I guess that explains all the high school based anime. :p
(I wonder if I should be surprised or not that people are still playing Love Plus on the original DS).

Also, when they went to go show the dangers of Akiba and the Japanese male obsession with creepy high school girls, they showed this:
9ATGSTHl.png

lol

Funny enough, they ended the show by talking to a Filipino nurse and all he could say was how the Japanese have an insane and pointless work ethic. Perhaps zeroshiki can identify with that sentiment.

I love these docus. Pretty entertaining if not informative.

Suicide Forest in Japan is especially worth watching.

They all are really.

Good news for Gatchaman Crowds fans: The marathon event yesterday night also screened the director's cut version of the final episode, confirming that the DVD/BD box will include an extended finale with additional footage which covers the gap between the ending and the epilogue.

This show is good fun, I really enjoy the characters
and that Dragon animation and design was pretty great, was that CG? it looked pretty cool

Dat smug face, I was laughing loud at this part (and bakatora indeed, the guy is dense as a brick).

I never really thought of it, but it does seem strange that the Russians were not part of that moon mission and seem to have their own unique program. The fact that they're STILL using the Soyuz is also hilarious, but that's something else entirely.
Much respect for that, and was fundamental for the nurture of all supranational space programmes that the ESA auspices. I mean... why change what has been proven and tested time and time again? Even on these modern, "advanced" times they could always learn from that passionate but short impulse when everything and anything was heavily invested on the most desperate race towards the knowledge on that field (or any field at that), further than any effort we could even imagine to see nowadays. NASA also realised of that in amazement of what it was achieved.

You mean, back when Gainax worked with other studios to produce amazing animation. Lol.
They totally need another Studio Fantasia to screw over... :-(

And talking of GAiNAX, I hope Lea Hernández keeps making more of this comics about her experiences there:

Bani Garu: Problems from the start - Boing Boing

VICE is really funny. Regardless of their "opinions" of something, it's always entertaining to watch the reporters put themselves in really dodgy situations just to prove they're real! :)
I enjoy the trips to North Korea. They did 2 trips 1 was a solo mission and the other was when Rodman went to North Korea.

The fake grocery store in the 2nd trip was crazy.
A program in the same vein I recommend is Diego Buñuel's Don't Tell My Mother... documentary series. His eerie trip to North Korea is also something else...
and having the guts to try that 'clams à la gasoline spécialité' they made for him, brave guy, yeah.

Oh, I sort of agree with that - although I wonder if the ISS would have been able to be built without the Space Shuttle. It's just funny that this thing from the 60s is still basically the only viable space ship that human beings have at the moment.

I see nothing wrong considering what has happenned before , especially with hachikuji.
Fear not , if arararagi goes too far , shinobu will save the day with a shinobu punch !

Yeah. At least I think we have exciting times ahead thanks in part to the private sector influence we will see from now on.

And Animeigo(well, unless their Bubblegum Crises Bluray Kickstarter works). And Nozomi/Rightstuf. And Discotek/Easternstar.

:(
Oh shit, thanks for the heads up on Bubblegum Crisis. Also it looks like they'll make it!

That sound you hear is Hitokage yelling "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"
I can't wait for the art to be revealed round January and be all CG ribbons and compacts focused upon to sell them to kids.

Inferno Cop 3-13

There are words but I don't have them.

This was....something.
The End of Evangelion of our times.

I guess haly was right. I really am okay with ambiguous endings. lol
GIrls be Ambiguous.

Hajime No Ippo: Rising 4
Also, why is Aoki crushing the inspirational CG frog?
It's because he neglected his ripple training.

Cg in gundam build fighters ? all i saw was beautifull animation .
Unless you're talking about the ads dring the show :p

No, I was talking aboutthe lack of CGI in Gundam Build Fighters. Though let us talk about the CGI in the ads, I think the CGI Toonami used for Gundam Wing back in the day was better rendered.

Ace of Diamond Episode 4:

I will say I enjoyed this Baseball match up more then real life baseball, SHONEN EMOTIONS make it more enjoyable, also I think Eijun may be legitimately insane. Also, watching this show near Toonami is not the best idea as I am usually drained from that exercise.

i admit it's weird that the ads are so poor , i wonder what happenned . nobody talented left in the studio because everyone was busy for the actual episodes ?

The CGI in the ads are very proper to demonstrate how fugly the gunpla looked without proper custom paintjob. Only newbs that didn't paint their gunpla.

Kyousougiga - 02

An episode full of tears , but with a little of hapiness.

Are the flashbacks over now ? there are still plenty of issues to solve ?

Ano Natsu de Matteiru 8-9

I dunno why I'm moving so slowly with this show. I keep trying to put off seeing new episodes, but I don't know why I'd want to avoid it. It's perfectly fine, but I guess these kinds of romance shows don't have a strong attraction for me in general. Probably worth remembering.

ibmqsvtX1XT6jG.jpg

I liked this goofy dream sequence. The show has a good sense of humor when it deals with fantasies and stuff, so I always welcome them.

Episode 8 was a sort-of-fun festival episode that ended with a crazy action scene, but I found 9 particularly fulfilling in how it resolved a lot of character arcs that had been a long time coming.
The alien stuff didn't dominate a lot of time, which was good since it had never been very important. They finally actually confessed to each other! And kissed! And there's still 25% of the series left to go! And Kanna's speech was great.

The biggest enigma right now (besides The Goddess Remon) is Tetsuro. Unlike Kaito, we don't have easy access to how he's feeling, and while his relationship with Mio seemed to be going in a certain direction following Okinawa, right now it feels like he's trying to keep his friendships with Mio and Kanna as static as possible. I keep thinking that there has to be something more that he wants but won't talk about. Just speculation, though.

ib2iUzAFa4d6BD.jpg

As if there was any doubt how glorious Remon is.

I'm not sure where things will go from here, and it's kind of scary. I guess that's why most romance shows drag things out so long: so the audience always knows where they're headed on some level.

Hey guys, I've been busy playing with my new Vita and kinda behind on anime.
So what's been going on in the thread latel--

Oh...

Welp.

Yeah, this is what's so awesome about teen romance stories--they can just be about pure emotion, just who loves who and how much. No worry about marriage or career or other hassles like that, with the occasional terminal disease or transferring overseas thrown in for drama. Well, really marriage itself is kind of romantic, like in OreImo. It's more jobs and political views and family disagreements and things that are nice to not worry about.

(I wonder if I should be surprised or not that people are still playing Love Plus on the original DS).
I heard the 3DS version was buggy.
I've always been curious about this series but never got into it. A this point I figure I'll wait and see how that new 3DS iteration turns out.

You know, I haven't thought about that for years, but I often wondered why she didn't do a character song for Lunamaria in SEED Destiny (I thought it would be a chance for her to team up with Kajiura!). But you're right - she only does drama albums, and even then she doesn't do those that often any more.

Her next anime song, incidentally, will be the ED theme for Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha, airing in January. No word yet if she's voicing a character in the show - maybe she's voicing Uka-sama, I wouldn't have thought she'd play Inari these days.

Ds version is also quite buggy given that some events just cant be activated sometimes

Hahaha, I love you!
a) I want to imagine that you use the "claw" to play dating sim games. lol
b) I hope you don't really use them as some form of emotion porn in order to try to recapture and relive your high school life!
c) Marriage is more romantic when your sister is involved?

You know, I tried the fanlation of the original Love Plus just because, after all the "hype", but I couldn't really stay interested long enough to actually experience the rabbit hole.
Same with the Tokimemo Girl's Side game, and in that one you get to date Sugita!
They're like as demanding as an Animal Crossing game, but somehow less engaging.

Haha, I didn't realize it had a history of that.
I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up too high that the next one will be fully functional.

Don't worry , the answer when love plus doesn't work is always to close-up/turn off your ds and turn it on few hours later ..

the pay-off exist , but you need to use a lot of time to see it .... don't force yourself if you're burned out , but the free mode later is good

These days i wish i could have something similar on my phone.
