So another Japan thingie. This time, Bourdain goes back to Tokyo... but rather than a typical meditation on ramen and sushi, he went insane:
I can't really explain the opening 5 minutes, but I felt like I was on acid just watching him be confused by what he was experiencing. lol
Funny enough, he sent the "B team" to a Meido Cafe and had them do the moe moe kyun thing to the random people who pay for such things. lol
But of all the diversions in the episode (which includes hanging out with a dominatrix), this was probably the weirdest one:
Apparently this was the seminal (teehee) work in, what Bourdain calls, the "tentacle porn manga" genre.
I did like how he ended it though - rather than judge Japan on its weirdness, he inverts it by saying that, as an outlet in their culture, it doesn't manifest itself in the ample violence that you see in America. A nice way to flip the script in the whole "Japan is weird" narrative anyway.

I'd also never thought I'd hear Bourdain try to explain yaoi to an audience, but that happens in this episode too. lol
