bad gameplay lol
Strike the Blood ep1
Apparently pretending to be a Italian tourist is a best way to stop a person from recognizing you.

Why am I not surprised this being a Silver Link show the production values for this is low? Not to mention Hiroyuki Yoshino is behind the series adaptation.

The show is so and so, at least there's pantsu and Taneda Risa.

Holy shit, I didn't realize Taneda Risa was the lead in this too. She's also Mirai in KnK. Two lead roles in one season, and this is after being Ayaya in Kiniro and Yukari in Yuyushiki? She sure is getting a ton of work lately.

So its one of those anime.

Yuyushiki was sort of like a Yuri Harem. There was at least 3 girls after the blonde girl.
They're "friends" though. :p

Rinne no Lagrange was a yuri harem. I'm pretty sure there are others I can't think of right now as well.
Same deal, but even then, it's like a triangle. Or maybe some form of polyamorous open relationship. lol

And that's terrible.

Closest thing I can think of offhand is Kashimashi. (Which was wonderful.)
Also a triangle, IIRC. lol

I remember reading a manga about a girl with a harem once, but I don't remember the name. It...wasn't terribly inspired, of course, being a harem, but I think I was initially intrigued by the novelty of the premise.
Other than YuriCam, I can't really think of any. Yuri stuff seems to stick with triangles or just plain pairings, because it's more about emotional relationship porn than wilshfulfillment porn.

Outbreak Company 01

There's a brand new world and WE MUST SPREAD THE WONDERS OF JAPANESE PRODUCTS.

It's pretty silly and the main character reminds me a bit like Hentai Prince's in his sheer love of stuff. It seems silly enough that I wouldn't mind sticking with it for a bit.

Charlotte x Laura S2 01

So yeah, this is basically all I'm interested in this show for. Ichika continues to be one of the worst harem MCs ever, don't know what they see in the fuckwit, but isn't that how it always goes.
Come on, isn't he lovably hopeless? I mean, Ichika redefines "useless harem MC"; it's like a bad parody of the worst of the genre, and that's one reason why the series is "good".

Doesn't matter though, as the show has made perfectly clear who the real OTP is.
Well, that is true... I hope we get a lot more Char x Laura as the series continues. :)

I forgot what they translated "Ichika no echiiii~~~~" to, but I know it wasn't what I expected!
That is just not right...

IS has it locked up after the cat pajama scene. I have the combined voting power of cajun and firehawk behind me!!
As I said in my review, I'm hoping for at least one episode that matches the amazing quality of episode 9 of the original series. Or episode 11. I only hope that they can manage it. :)

As for that, though, yeah, the yuri-baiting was certainly the highlight of the episode by far.

The MC is INCREDIBLY dense. Its pretty awe inspiring how stupid he actually is.
Indeed. Watching him tell all of the girls he wanted to go to the festival with them, while leaving out that he was inviting the others too... it was a slow-motion, blatantly obvious joke, as I said, but it was funny anyway, when it ended exactly as expected. :lol

Kevin Sorbo.
Andromeda was a great show.

IS is the most important anime of the year and must be treated with respect!
Well... yeah, it is, isn't it. I only hope that the staff know how important it is that they get things just right... :)

IS guy is literally an empty cipher with no attributes, qualities, or personal history beyond having a sister. He is no worse than your typical harem protagonist, but the tabula rasa of his personality and identity also makes him the best harem protagonist.

Kirito, on the other hand, embodies the worst aspects of otaku culture and is rewarded for it by having a sister who wants to fuck him.
Hey, by having almost no discernible personality, Ichika stands above characters who have bad or unlikeable personalities; he doesn't ruin the series by existing, unlike, say, the guy from Maken-Ki, or Shirou. No personality is better than a bad one.

Well, Ichika does have a few traits of note, I guess... you know, he's a great waifu -- he's good at both cooking AND cleaning! He's otherwise blandly average -- doesn't like studying but isn't the worst student, etc. Straight middle of the road, apart from his
surely Tabane-gifted
IS ability and harem of girls who have no business liking such a person.

IS guy is just totally incompetent. In every way.
He's totally incompetent at relationships, but his fighting ability is average at least... and he also has that protagonist determination he needs to implausibly save the day (and defeat the main villain) every time at the end, of course. I mean, these girls may be strong, but he's a guy, so the sexist rules of anime (and, even worse, harem anime) say he gets precedence.

I mean, this is stating the very obvious, but in harem animes with action about a guy surrounded by girls, the guy ends up saving the girls. But in harem animes with action about a girl surrounded by guys? The guys still usually save the girl.

But if you're going to use that logic, then the best harem protagonist is a nonexistent one. Which isn't wrong, but it would still mean IS guy is not the best.
But doesn't everyone know that this is true? That is definitely not wrong. It's right: the best harem protagonist is a nonexistent one. :)

An easy example, of course, would be Koihime Musou... getting rid of the games' harem protagonist in the animes was a brilliant idea that worked fantastically!

Also a triangle, IIRC.

Yeah, there were only two girls seriously in the running for Hazumu's heart.

Though there was also a third girl who was clearly into Hazumu but chose to stay out of the spotlight. And Jan-puu, the crazy female alien being who was very attached to Hazumu and tended to get a little too touchy-feely. And Hazumu's guy friend who was clearly attracted to her but only ever treated as comic relief.

I Couldn’t Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job 1

I thought this was going to be similar to The Devil Is a Part-Timer! It's okay so far but I don't know what is the goal is going to be at the end as of right now.

I think the goal is jiggling boobs, and they are right on track.

This is like a worse, gender-swapped Hataraku Maou. Will keep watching.

The Free! guys take up gardening? Sounds like a winning formula for Season 2.
They do place those bricks around the tree!

Not quite a clear cut harem though. lol
I mean... is Love Lab a yuri harem because all the girls want either the princess or the wild one? lol

Yeah, the one weird gimmick is that he has a weird relationship with his sister. It lets them put up another obstacle that the characters can't really blame him for I suppose. lol

Weird gimmick? More like incest option; lots of harem shows have one these days, stupidly enough, so sadly, it's not anything unique. At least IS hasn't gone too far with it... lots do worse.

And yeah, it also puts up an obstacle to make it much harder for the five main girls to have a chance with him, so it helps keep the series going in multiple ways.

Well, these things would typically haven an imouto. lol

The lead is a tomboyish girl, an outsider who's drawn into the school's system of bizarre duels during a quest to discover the identity of a figure from her past. There will inevitably be :sdburton between her and the mysterious, otherwordly female at the center of the system.

Also, Mako is an exaggerated Wakaba.

Yeah, pretty much what i got. Also got Akio-vibes from the prof.

So I decided to rewatch Kill La Kill with different subs, and huh. It was definitely noticeably different and probably flowed a little better, but obviously I can't really say which is more faithful to the original Japanese. The lemon theft scene actually made sense so there's that.

Outbreak Company 1

This is just as ridiculous as that series synopsis that was posted last page made it out to be, and despite the lack of fuwafuwa tomboy I think I enjoyed this more than I really should have. This MC knows what he wants and I find it absolutely hilarious, can't wait til we get into the meat of this show.

Hero Work Reluctant whatever
I seriously can't get over how well animated this is. Not only it features by far the best action sequence of Fall so far, the whole thing's consistent with peaks in quality throughout. I don't think it'd be a stretch to say it had overall the best animation out of everything I've watched so far.

Even the jiggling tits were well-done.... Fuck everything.

Takeuchi is a fucking master though.

Gonna hopefully see it this weekend. I'm a fan of the director. Actually, speaking of this in an anime thread, I noticed in the first trailer there's a shot where Clooney's character is extending his hand to grab a metal bolt in zero gravity. Isn't that the iconic shot from Planetes? I can only imagine that's just some larger cultural imagery that I'm unaware of, but I thought it was interesting.

So this is pretty generic. Almost painfully so.

However, it does have some cute girls, and the dynamic between the MC and the maid is kind of sweet(?), so I won't dismiss it out of hand. I'll give it another episode or two. Hopefully it will keep being generic and uninspired so I can feel comfortable dropping it.

Maid?!

I'll check this out...

It has this hyper motion thing that comes with 3D and it almost looks 3D in some shots but it also looks 2D. Because if that's hand drawn then that puts everything this season to shame, including KLK.

That's hand drawn, it just has no outlines and some kinda 3D shading. And it moves so well because well, the animator who handled that is one of the best active animators working on TV (and overall, really); his movement is much meatier than even most sakuga scenes you normally see.

So it's the shading. It looked off and I couldn't figure out why. Holy fuck then. This episode might have the best 'movements'/fluidity out of all the premieres.

What the fuck.

The Light of El Cantare
Rewatched KLK and enjoyed it more the second time around. I still feel like events needed a little more room to breathe and the dialogue in some scenes is too transparently and straightforwardly tailored around explaining power mechanics to the viewer, but it was clear to me this time around that it was a confident and streamlined introduction. The music is still boring, but listening again I almost feel like something is up with the sound mixing and the loud voices drown the music out at lot which kind of takes away from the heightened state of emotion they're trying to achieve. Still, it's a really, really gorgeous, really fun show that exudes pride, craftsmanship, and experience, and I think it's going to be great once it finds its rhythm.

I kind of want to jump on the Ryuko avatar bandwagon but a.) this could be the start of avatar-itis hell for me again and b.) I don't know if my idea would fly, haha.

Charlotte and Laura focus for the first episode? Good start.

I kind of have the same question. Do people really wear these types of things as pajamas or is this some kind of "furry" thing?

It was. AnimeGAF has collectively repressed the memory.

Not everyone! Haha.

I was just going to post this cap!

Infinite Stratos returns! Both so stupid, yet so wonderfully efficient that my appreciation for this franchise has went from irony to near genuine. Yes, the show is still sadlifey, but there's a simple charm in how willfully sadlife it is. It's not insipid or evil like Sword Art Online, nor is it the half-pornography that To Love Ru tries to be. It's just a plain old shitty harem, but it's just good at it. Who else would think of having TWO tsundere childhood friends as part of the harem? How does that even work?!

Now, as for season 2. Well, I'm worried that it will go up its own ass with this new arc, because what I've heard about it makes it sound like dumb SyFy shit, but when they have shots like this:
UHqSdzVl.png

I almost feel like they know better and are just going to do the shitty harem stuff and make the boring meta plot hero stuff ancillary, like they did in the first season.

Also, I hope that the thing at the end was just a preview and not them cheapening out. It may be one of the only times I've seen previews before the credits though, if that's the case.

Do people really do that kind of thing that's pictured or is it one of those "anime" things? Personally I find that whole thing kind of more off putting really.

Kill la Kill 1

It's a good start. Obviously I'll have to see how it develops before making any real judgement on it.

What do you think you're doing?! Watching an anime as it airs! Haha.

(The only ones I can really recall off the top of my heard are AKB0048, Blood-C and Madoka)

the return of infinite stratos is proof of there being no god

Yuyushiki - Episode 6

I am God. If you pray to me, I'll make sure your favorite anime gets a second season!

It worked! Haha.

Haha. I was thinking of this gif that got posted personally.

The style of shading and light to no outlines looks similar to Takeuchi's Yuri Seijin Naoko-san OVA; it's pretty distinctive. Unfortunately I couldn't make it very far into the video; had to turn it off once the girl's breastplate got ripped off. I swear, with every passing year I loathe these sorts of ecchi tropes more and more.

Interesting way to start the episode instantly selling me on Hikari. He really is a great lead character and one to get behind. Unfortunately, it is terrible that the writing keeps him hindered and honed in on only Manaka that at times it becomes nearly unbearable. But thankfully Tsumugu is there to balance things out and make it interesting. Ultimately, Tsumugu and Hikari's moments were the highlights beyond the plot and world building going on. I just hope that Kaname wont be left behind in terms of development and writing
which it almost seemed to be with him and Chiisaki sitting on the sidelines while Hikari was chasing after Manaka and Kaname essentially suggesting that she liked Hikari too.

Otherwise strong start, the romance bits sometimes felt way too forced and too fast but easily overlooked by the plot and world
teared up when she ran off and started cracking as it seemed sad to consider what would happen to everyone if she lost the Ena and then couldnt return while they could. They would be heartbroken bad. I hope the plot wont go in that direction where one of them will be unable to return to the sea as splitting up childhood friends is too tragic and emotional.

Ray gave best OP of the season so far.
