Well that is giving Square money... that would be used for what we don't want.

will buy Bravely Default

Its not like they can do anything but put out iOS shit or milk these old franchises dry so I don't mind giving them money. They're not gonna do anything I like anyways.

The Light of El Cantare
Everyone's already forgotten about Drakengard 3, apparently. Buy it even if you've never played any of the games because it's probably the last non-Final Fantasy JRPG they'll ever localize without buckets of Nintendo/Sony payola.

So I'm a smidge over halfway through Last Exile Fam, and I don't hate it. Quite the opposite, really. It's no match for the original series, but I find it to be quite watchable.

The bad guys are really stupid, though. I mean, I don't even understand their motivations. That whole aspect of the show is a mess. But as long as they're not on-screen, I'm having fun.

But I never played the first tw---- wait... I played a bit of it... like the true final boss for one of the games.

White Album 2 - 10-11
I think this show should have started wrapping things up an episode ago. Right now all the unnecessary flashbacks come off as simply spinning its wheels.

They are only only adapting the "introductory chapter," don't expect a definite end.

Other than a super-late PSP game, they've brought over almost everything, don't be overly dramatic. There's no history of games being skipped for localization.
I'm sure they'll bring over all their IOS releases.

I want to be in a world where SE released their DQ games for 3DS here in the West :l

You should put up some NSFW tags before posting all that display porn.

Tell me that any of that was in the anime. :p
Not like it matters since any new anime season would be years in the making anyway. And without something new like Russia, I don't know what S3 could do to make it worth watching. :(

Yes all of that was in the anime , they just glanced about it ( but they did tell ).That's why i say that the anime is full of so much nonsense that they didn't have time to follow the plot properly.

That was neat. The display porn was as good as advertised, if not better. I really like that shot with a DOF effect on the hologram. Some great background art too. It's a shame about all the CGI, but at least the action is storyboarded well enough to keep things interesting. It's no Gonzo show, that's for sure.

It's interesting to see the show use in media res at the beginning. I suppose, given the franchise's legacy in Japan, some level of cultural knowledge of the basic story could be assumed, but even so, this seems to be a legitimate storytelling decision. The direction of the plot is still clear enough, especially with the infodump midway through the episode.

It's also nice to see space warfare in anime that actually involves adults.

Merry Christmas to everyone, even though it's still about an hour away here.

Hitsugi no Chaika character art:
Also, if you're looking for the perfect last-minute Christmas gift for a friend in Japan, the Oreimo PS3 game is on sale on Amazon Japan at the moment for an astounding 90% off -- it'll only cost you about 1100 yen. Of course, it can't be shipped internationally, hence the "friend in Japan" bit.

Granted, the overwhelmingly negative reviews may be part of the reason for the discount.

Steins; Gate Movie

I thought that was pretty damn great, surprised people seem not like it.
The story feel like legit follow-up of the original and even adding a lot to some part like Reading Steiner and Okabe's fondness to Hououin Kyouma name..

The main theme of the movie also great,
Steins; Gate have great ending but its feel kinda lonely and sad that in the end only Okabe that remember everything he going through, so I really like the movie feel like Kurisu's journey to understand that suffering and remain as Okabe's OTP <3

I feel mostly the same way ...
This was a good movie

With that said .

MERRY CHRISTMAS AnimeGaf !

So it's not even going to be like an end of a route? I can't seem to wrap my head around it being an "introductory chapter". I'm not familiar with the VN.

I haven't it read it either. I only know that the VN was separated into two parts, introductory chapter and closing chapter, and we're only getting the former. The first part is a linear novel with no choices, and the second part is a branching multi-route VN.

Wolf Children

OK nerds you win. Wolf Children is anime of the year.

Seriously I couldn't think of a single thing in that wasn't staggeringly beautiful in it. So many tears throughout it. Easily Hosoda's best film. Also instant bought the soundtrack after it. Listening to it now and tears and coming back. Just perfect.

Such a fantastic film. I'm getting it on Blu Ray for Christmas, can't wait to open it up and watch it.

Meh, I don't get the hate.. he raise the kid and let them choose became human or

The ending scene is implication of that choices.

HAL

sigh, if you really want to
have a dumb fucking sci-fi plot twist in your story then can you at least add one that makes sense. So Kurumi dies, and Hal just thinks he is a robot because why exactly? How does it follow that the shock of her loss makes him think he is a robot? The whole dumb plot twist left me with a bad taste, why couldn't this just be a straight up robot-human love story? I would have enjoyed the movie much more.

Pretty much all the sci-fi parts of the movie were a letdown and the little flashbacks thrown here and there didn't really explain or add much. Maybe the whole movie should have been extended more to flesh things out. I'm glad that there was another romance centric anime movie in this year, but it just ended up being very disappointing. Oh well, cute main girl though so that's something I guess.

duckroll and sonicmj1 convinced me that Ame wasn't really an asshole. He just really sucks at communication. His actions bare this out quite consistently I thought.

While I still think he could have gone about things a bit more gracefully, none of it takes away from the movie for me. One of the best animated movies I have ever seen.

I don't get the Ame is an asshole thing either. I mean Yuki wanted Ame to be a human as much as he wanted her to be a wolf. Both of them choose their different paths in life and neither path was wrong.

You didn't feel like his actions towards his sister and mother weren't the least bit asshole-ish?

Not really, no. The kids have to move on, and the memory of what happened to his father (
a wolf who tried to exist in a human setting
) is still there. It's a decision he came to over the course of years, and it wasn't like he just
straight up abandoned them
. I thought it was sad, but there's an understanding there that people drift apart, that change is inevitable. It makes the scene in the snow and the hill all the more poignant for me.

I didn't know that "ame is an asshole" was actually a thing.

Haly, Corvo, me and I think partially Wonzo are all firmly in the "Ame is an asshole" camp.

I don't get the Ame is an asshole thing either. I mean Yuki wanted Ame to be a human as much as he wanted her to be a wolf. Both of them choose their different paths in life and neither path was wrong.

Doesn't change the fact it was an absolutely assholeish way of going about it. The guy picked the worst time to just abandon his entire lifestyle and gave no warning to his incredibly caring and hard working mother, yet it has the portrayal of a friggin "if you love him, let Free Willy go!" scene.

I'm not going to tell a fictional character how to react to things, but how the whole finale was portrayed didn't sit right with me at all.

I'll the take the other side for the sake of argument here (since as I said, I've been convinced otherwise).

I don't think there's anything wrong with Ame coming to the conclusion that he did. In fact, that's what makes the movie great, that the both of them were finally able to make their decision and live life like they wanted to. The problem that people have, I think, is how Ame went about it, from the final confrontation with Yuki and then the scene with Hana
where he abandons her in a parking lot wtf
. As I said, he could have achieved the same conclusion without having to be a cunt about it.

It's a storm, man. He can't resist it. He's overtaken with the impulse and it's something he has resisted, and been aware of, for a long time now. He understands the risks (remember the scene with the caged wolf?) and yet this is something which is beyond his control.

I thought him becoming cold and distant was kinda the point of his whole arc. Note that he
didn't have his father to be his role-model or guide him
, you can't really expect the smoothest transition.

The confrontation with Yuki was handled gracefully, it's understated but clear in their last exchange (when Yuki is going to school on the stormy day) that they at least have gotten over it and are willing to respect each other's choices.

I actually doesn't think its really matter if Ame is asshole or not, but more to its a nature that he chose..
I'm sorry but you can easily google
wolf kill their own breed if you wanted to
They may exaggerate it a bit, but that brutal turnaround sent across the message about how unusual the hypothetical situation is, the implication of raising Wolf Children.

I learned my lesson with Grave of Fireflies, hating the plot direction instead understanding what narrative want to tell is just wrong, I may dislike the direction but I can't just simply appreciate it due with that fact alone, I must understand I could dislike it but the movie should allowed to sent its message.
