Mobile Suit Gundam 3
So the Pupua is blown and a certain someone kicks the can. The thing I'd like to ask though, is what's the deal with Gadem's Zaku? It looks like other Zakus, but really simplified in comparison, which is saying a lot, since Zakus are probably the most simple MS design after GMs.
I really enjoy the atmosphere of the first series, because it really does feel like an actual war is going on. People scramble to make supply shipments which mean the difference between life and death, accidents and simple mistakes keep happening, and everyone feels really on edge the whole time. I think it helps that most of the case is adult, but at the same time I feel the atmosphere loops around to making the younger cast members seem older, too.
I wish I could put into better, clearer words why Mobile Suit Gundam feels more like an actual war than Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, in spite of the fact that Victory goes out of its way to create that feeling. As I cannot, I will not force this issue at the moment.
I've always been a big fan of faces in old school anime. There's something completely nonuniform about them as compared to modern anime that I'm just infatuated with. People have ridiculous, hideous shaped heads and even the pretty people have features that set their faces completely apart from the pack, so to speak. There's an individuality to the character's faces in MSG that I feel you would not find in anything post-SEED in this franchise.
Again, though, I'm really hard-pressed to find a good way to put what I'm thinking into quantifiable terms here, and as I've spent most of today doing homework, I just don't feel up to the challenge.
